Subject: Parody single from the 60's
Written By: Rex on 02/20/05 at 5:58 pm
There was a 45 released in the sixties that contained a medly of parodies of the songs of the time. Two of the parodied songs were "Teenager in Love" and "Tom Dooley". The parody of "Teenager in Love" went like this:
Each time I steal a hubcap, it almost breaks my heart
Why do I steal those hubcaps, why did I have to start
Each night I have to start without fail
Why must I be a teenager in jail.
Anyone remember this / have any additional info about it?

I know that this is a very, very old thread but ...... everytime I try to recall the ORIGINAL song lyrics, those parodie words keep spooking me. It´s great that you found that recording, Rex, because I have been trying to identify it for a whole many years!
