Saw that someone named Steve posted a few lines from the lyrics of "North To Alaska" as inappropriate song lyrics....
guess Steve didn't check a map because it's not "white mountain' but "White Mountain", an actual place that IS southeast of Nome!!!!
Guess Mr. Horton was not so far wrong after all.
Since he had lived in Alaska for awhile before gaining fame as a singer, I guess he must have known a little bit of geography.

Just for a bit of history, Mr Horton was killed in a car accident about 15 miles from where I live.
It was in November 1960 and "North to Alaska" was just becoming a big hit.

And I gather Horton's widow was previously married to country legend Hank Williams, who also died in a car...albeit not in a crash...
