Subject: misrhymed lyrics section

Written By: Wouter on 9/17/2001 at 12:47 p.m.

Hi there,

Just stumbled over this page in search for some lyrics. Nice idea, but what struck me immediately about the 'misrhymed lyrics' section is that some reviewers seem a little overeager.

For example, 'leisure' does rhyme with 'pleasure'. The Beatles were a British band!

And: two times 'over' in Breakfast at Tiffany's. Repetition is a very powerful stylistic method in poetry. So this is not a mistake, it is intended.

Destiny's child: 'telephone bills' versus 'automo bills'. This one is a beauty! It's a pun! If you listen closely, you hear that she ALMOST pronounces 'automobiles'. So whoever wrote these lyrics ingeniously combines two words into one.

And for the rest: it seems the reviewers think a song only rhymes if it's got combinations like heart/fart in it. If that's what you're looking for in a song, there's a lot more comments for you to make on this site! ;)

Well, I'm still going to add this site to my favorites, see what else is there.

Regards,

Wouter (The Netherlands)
