Subject: Parody Survivor Round 2

I know that round one submissions aren't due until friday but i'm giving advance warning about what the second round topic is so that everyone can think about it for a little extra time so they can have it done by friday, august 1st. I'm going to announce all of the topics before the last round is over because 4 days to write a parody on a topic could result in several people no submitting entries. The topic for the second round is... MAKE FUN OF A WELL KNOWN MUSICIAN. bRITNEY SPEARS AND AVRIL LAVIGNE AND MICHAEL JACKSON ARE OFF LIMITS BECAUSE THEY HAVE BEEN DONE SO MUCH. aNYONE ELSE IS FAIR GAME

Just a thought, TD - is it going to be contestant voting ("Weakest link" style, where we all vote for who we think did the worst song)?
...if so, I need to start trying to find some songs...

Also, we(the artists in the contest) are the ones voting the songs out, right?

This song makes fun of Clay Aiken, American Idol runner-up. Just putting finishing touches on the song now, trying to change a couple lines to get a perfect pacing.....

No seriously, Unless I´m totaly off we´re running on American/Massachusets time, right. And I´m sitting on the other side of the world. Can we say that the deadlines are "Site update friday" and "Site update monday".
Chucky may be a little early, or a little late, but we´ll have to take that into account, right? :-)

I have a similar situation as Philbo´s, but I have also posted my song so in case I´m not around to link to it, it´s called "Motörhead" and is to the tune of "If you´re happy and you know it, clap your hands". :-)

I just caught this thread. Pip and I happen to be working on something that would work for round two. Does it have to be on Amiright by Aug 1, or can it be submitted by Aug 1 and therefore appear on Saturday? it is a bit more difficult when you have a writing partner, because we have to go back and forth by email etc. and allow for time-zone differences... takes forever sometimes to complete a single song... :P

sorry merry but there was a round one for this contest which came and went and you didn't submit for it so you can't compete in the second round. However, if you want to write a song that conforms to the second round rules then no one is stopping you from doing so

I'm extending the deadline to monday since i haven't heard anything from 3 of the contestants and no i'll remind them. And to merry and pippin and anyone else who wants to join... if you can write a parody of a song from the 2000's and a round 2 entry by monday's update then i might let you in the contest since right now we only have 7 contestants

Oh! Sorry Tone. I wasn't sure how this survivor thing works - I didn't realize we had to be in every round, but I guess that makes sense. We will have to pass then. Don't know any songs on the current top 40... :)

Well, I made it in time, though I see that time has been extended :-)

And while I´m at it here, even though it has nothing to do with the contest, I´m also gonna indulge in some egoboosting selfpromotion :-) and ask you to check out my new parody about the killing of the Hussein brothers. I really do think that it should have more than 2 votes, cos it´s one of the best ones I have written, and the tune should be fairly known cos it was a minor (almost major) hit, and the subject is obviously (just look at the votings results page) very "hot" right now. :-)

Yeah, I finished! My entry is a parody of The Beatle's "Let it be", entitled "Kenny G." The song just happens to make fun of Kenny G. Anyhoo, I'll post the link on Monday, after it's submitted on the site.
