Subject: Top Ten AmIRight Artists
Here is my list, and you can make suggestions or make your own, but I'm just bored.
10: Ghetto John - his writing ability is amazing and his parodies are funny, he's had his own hits along with duet hits.
9: Rice Cube and Watt Daddy- Amazing!!!!! I am not a big fan of their work but these two have remade the board. I commend them on that.
8: William Tong- I know many of you think he should be WAY higher up, but I have artists I like better. Even though I'm for Bush, Tong has had a load of hits and parodies.
7 and 6: Florio Brothers- Who can't have these guys on their chart?
5: lebeiW15- he has been amazing with hits ever since he came on. He will be climbinmg this chart as the years pass by.
4: DarkJon64- An amazing parody artist (where ever you are, come back) his hits will stay right where they belong. In our minds and computer memories.
3:Jim A- I haven't made a duet with him, yet, but I believe he is a great artist
2: Junior- he has made this site into what it is today with his humour and great parody writing.
1: I DUNNO????????
Suggestions?
What's your list?
Use this thread to do this.

Well gee, STG, I love you too ;D

10. Robert J. Pagliaro -- not sure why he stopped writing but he had some good stuff going :)
9. Evan L. Heller -- same thing, and he was the resident Beatlemaniac too!
8. Lebeiw15 -- for such a young lad, he sure knows his 80s 8)
7. Spaff.com -- the latest Boardwalk parody had me and my friends in stitches, hehehe ;D
6. Mike Armstrong -- sports parodies and the 99 Great Cartoons, excellent quality all around!
5. Royce Miller -- she's quirky ;)
4. Steven Cavanaugh -- he's got some kind of nerd complex going but I think it works for him :D
3. Phil Alexander -- always a fun read.
2. Claude Prez -- ditto
1. Jeff Reuben -- I Got To Pee Now and Free Parking are the parodies I show off to all of my friends. Absolutely brilliant material.
And of course I didn't include us for obvious reasons ;D I honestly don't think we compare to some of these guys.

13)Malcolm Higgins: You got to give credit for someone to be able to write so many parodies on bodily functions
14)my name is kenny: Id wish youd write more often
15)William Tong: You got to give credit for someone to write so many parodies on politics..that being said, I may not agree with Tong at all, but I have to say....I stopped write political parodies because I got bored with them..you havent gotten bored with them at all....how?
I probably forgot someone..but anyway, i didnt include me or my brother for reasons.....and I didnt include really new artists Spaff.com or Guy Dirito because I dont think theyve proven themselves fully yet...yeah, they both crack me up, but give them time...

Subject: Re: Top Ten AmIRight Artists
hmmm, excluding me, I take it? Or maybe not..here are the top 20:
20. Bob Gomez-genius parody author
19. Malcolm Higgins-still submitting like a mad man to get to number one on the site quantity wise. His hits, "Oh no not another william Tong song," and "Gary where has Chandra gone?" were genius and funny.
18. Jeremy Otto-really funny and picks the topics no one even thought of, very good artist.
17. Michael PAcholek-one of the only other left spectrumed authors here, and very much up to date on everything.
16. My name is Kenny-doesn't submit often, but when he does, he sky rockets strait to the top of the charts. "Welcome to Mcdonalds," and "Cleaning out my office" stick out in his career.
15. Claude Prez-speaks out for the newer people here and has a great sense of humor. Very funny artist.
14. Syncronos-hillarious writer, had us all in stitchs when he first appeared on the scene last year.
13. Darkjon-very very funny. Amiright personality indeed.
12. Mike Armstrong-sports parody or not, this duo are two of the best chart topping artists to ever graze number 1. "99 great cartoons," and "Mailman Malone" just to name a few are some of their best.
11. Tone def-has a lot of parodies on the site, and always manages to make us laugh.
10. Jim A-his socialistic views always went up for a good laugh and his parodies were pure genius.
9. Ghetto John-always an artist with laughable songs. Excellant writter.
8. Royce Miller-aside from the highest female and best female on the site, her work is always worth a lol!.
7. Rice Cube and Watt Daddy-this team has ranked up more hits than many other people, and always crank out people to laugh at their work.
6. Merry and Pippin-I believe only about 1 in every 20 songs by them doesn't chart. They, ambiguas sexes, are awesome writters and managed to get Malcolm extremely confused.
5. Phil Alexander-Probably one of the best writters to graze the amiright scene.
4. Jeff Reuben-excellant parody author. Genius in all his work and very smart.
3. William Tong-when you think of amiright, no one ever trys to think what it would be like without William Tong. It wouldn't be what it is today, and thats for sure. William stood out and always had something to say for his side, always.
2. STG-STG shaped this site, hes been here from the beginning, and will be here for times to come. He always has something funny to say, and is definatly the most influencial artist ever.
1. Lebeiw15-amazing parody author. Genius and always has a joke to say in his songs.
AMEN!

Me either. What a suprise.
*works on list also*
Subject: Re: Top Ten AmIRight Artists
11. Steve Cavanaugh. As a Star Wars Geek, I have to include him here. The recording are also always great quality, and really add to his songs
10 Will Tong. While I'm not big into politics, the pacing is always perfect, and I find the songs humorous (regardless of political views)
9. The Florios. Always entertaining
8. Mike Armstrong. For my sports fix
7. Synchronos. Beat me in the Florio Memorial Award (or something like that) so he must be good!
6. Spaff. Could probably get higher as I read more of his songs. Again, great recordings
5. Lebeiw15. Lots of good 80s stuff
4. Rice Cube/Watt Daddy. I always look for these guys on the daily updates
3. Claude Prez. Seems to have a similar sense of humor to mine, and has come up with some songs that have me rolling on the floor laughing.
2. Royce Miller. The pacing is always perfect, she can write about anything and everything. I could see her being good at writing serious songs as well.
1. Phil Alexander. Must be the English sense of humor.
Honorable mentions (I was going to do top 20, but didn't have time, so in no particular order): STG, Ghetto John, Merry/Pippen, Tone-Def, M. Pacholek, Brit/Bryan O'Connor
Subject: Re: Top Ten AmIRight Artists
Okies, I put my little list together. Note that I left myself out cuz I'd cream you all. ::) lol j/k
10. Spaff.Com
9. William Tong
8. Jeff Reuben
7. lebiew15
6. Syncronos
5. Phil Alexander
4. Darkjon
3. Junior
2. STG
1. Merry and Pippin
Subject: Re: Top Ten AmIRight Artists
i feel like rodney dangerfield... anyway i'll get my list done eventually probably sometime tonight since i'm not doing anything
Subject: Re: Top Ten AmIRight Artists
ok i'm doing mine now but i'll start at #1 because going backwards would mean i'd have to write it down first. I'm also not putting myself in here even though i think i probabnly should be in here somewhere
1) William Tong. I know his subject matter can be a bit repetitive but there are professional political satirists, some of home probably don't do it nearly as well as him. He also gets the number one spot for writing a ridiculously high amount of parodies to show that its possibly and inspiring others (especially malcolm) to try to catch up. His controversial material found on his own site often lead people to amiright where they sometimes stayed to write their own parodies so he has been extremely valuable to the site
2) STG - the original amiright idol. I've looked at the archives back when chucky posted the link and in the early days of the site it seems it was just stg keeping the site going.
3) Claude Prez. In my opinion he's the funniest writer on the site. Although neither was a top 10 song i think that "beam gimme" (beam cindy crawford not richard gere) and dinner cold (slow-move slom-move waiter) are 2 of the best songs on the site. And he's got some other really good ones too
4) Phil Alexander. Very diverse, very talented. Unlike me, actually seems to have some knowledge about thae subjects he writes about.
5) Malcolm Higgins. Anyone who can write as much as he did that quickly with over half of them actually being pretty good songs has a lot of talent.
6) Leibew15. Writes well for a grown-up, let alone someone who i think is just starting highschool next year. And he should get even better as he gets older and learns new words and becomes familiar with more things to write about
7) Mike Florio. Would probably be a place or two up if he used spellcheck; the errors are often so bad it makes the songs hard to read. but he's a good writer and like leibew seems a good deal older than he actually is
8) Jeff Rueben. He's written some decent songs
9) Mike Armstrong. I don't know the tunes of a lot of theirdies but they seem well written and i trust the voting results
10) Merry and Pippin. Ditto for my mike armstrong comment. And you were also pretty influential in amiright in general for a little while
11) Jim A. Probably should take more than one sitting to write a parody a little more often but has still written a lot of ok parodies and some really good ones
12) Royce Miller. brings a unique brand of parody writing to amiright
13) Syncronos. Probably the most prolific writer of well written rap parodies on the site and his other stuff is pretty good too
14) My Name Is Kenny. He should spend less time writing quizzes and more time writing songs.
15) Billy Florio. Not Bad for a wooden statue
16) Michael Pacholek. Might've been a little later on the list but is helped out by his artistry on the comments files.
17) Darkjon64 he id most of his writing before i came here but since he's apparently a legend i'll include him here
18) Spaff.com. A newcomer and not that many songs but just about all of them are great
19) Guy Di Rito. a talented guy - its hard to believe how little time its been since he started writing here
20) Rice Cube and Watt Daddy. The fruit fly song is great and i can't leave out the authors of the definitive "there's a bathroom on the right"
Subject: Re: Top Ten AmIRight Artists
Wow, this is hard to narrow down because there are so many good ones here! These are some of the 10 I chose though, in no order.
1. Jeff Reuben--has great pacing and comes out with very good songs. Very funny person!
2. Junior--along with S.T.G., you are two of the parody artists I first ever remembering reading parodies by when I first came to amIright summer of 2001. You have some good talent so keep writing!
3. S.T.G.--same as Junior, I was attracted to your funny parodies when I first came to this site. Though you may have slowed down quite a bit, your parodies have not. I'm still waiting for the next big hit from you so keep it up. :)
4. Billy/Mike Florio--heh, I sneaked two people into one spot... you guys can really make me laugh, and I look for your parodies on the new updates every day. Keep up your good work.
5. My name is Kenny--I wish you submitted more often, because you have some of the best parodies. Your sense of humor rarely fails to make me laugh.
6. Spaff.com--When I thought that your parodies couldn't get any better, I discovered the recordings. Love that Muppet song.
7. Syncronos--You have some great parodies, so keep on writing, wherever you are.
8. Tone-Def--Actually writes parodies of newer songs that have just come out which is always good. MAN I just noticed he has 226 parodies, many of which are good.
9. Royce Miller--Love your sense of humor! Keep up the great parodies.
10. William Tong--So I'm not the biggest fan of political parodies, but reading yours makes it fun. Yeah, yeah, even if they're repetitive, it's amazing how you can match rhymes with almost every word to the original song when you write your parodies. Excellent pacing too--stuff that I couldn't do.
Thanks for the kind comments guys. This is a real good way to boost someone's self-esteem. ;) 8)

Subject: Re: Top Ten AmIRight Artists
I cannot do it - I can't narrow my list down to 10. I will say that I like the lists that everybody else prepared, especially that of iam4iu42, who seemed especially perceptive. Everybody who would be on my top 10 or 20 is on somebody else's list, with one exception - Stray Pooch. He seems to be taking a sabatical now, but "The Copier Guy" is a classic of humor and he also did some profound parodies in the short time he contributed to this web site.
Subject: Re: Top Ten AmIRight Artists
Im surprised that I was on some of yall's list, and I am highly grateful. But there is no way for me to narrow it down to a list, I woudnt feel comfortable.
Subject: Re: Top Ten AmIRight Artists
I know what you mean... I've spent a few minutes (about as much as I can spare...) each day since this topic was posted going through some old parodies - I was surprised how many excellent ones there are that I didn't remember but obviously had voted on already as my vote didn't take :-)
I could probably come up with ten.. but it's difficult to rank them. At the rate I'm going, probably another week or more before I'll post a favourite list.
Phil
PS Thanks for thinking of me in your lists, guys :-)

Subject: Re: Top Ten AmIRight Artists
no problem guys :-*
Subject: Re: Top Ten AmIRight Artists
I wanted to put a bit more detail in... but realized that if I did, I'd still be composing this list in December. There's a lot I'll have missed out, sometimes because I just haven't had time to look through, but mostly it's because there's guys here who use too many recent songs for their parodies, and an old fogey like me just doesn't know them well enough...
Anyway, here goes:
#1 Merry and Pippin
Funnily enough, M&P started much lower down my list... till I started looking through: they have a wonderful ability, and can take a song and subject and wring each last laugh out of it. The number of times I've thought that there could only be one or two jokes in a song, and they've managed to keep me chuckling all the way through - it's this, and their use of words which put them in at the top for me.
#2 Steve Cavanaugh
It was his "New Orcs, New Orcs" parody that started me liking Steve's stuff: it's still the one parody on amiright I really wish I'd written. His Star Wars parodies are superb, too.
#3 John Jenkins
Well crafted parodies - the Super Tacos parody was damn near perfect.
#4 Will Tong
Will is IMO the best of us when it comes to writing well-scripted parodies that match the originals - he has a quite remarkable ability with words. The reason he's not higher is partly the subject monomania, but mainly because they're not as funny.
#5 Royce Miller
Well, she's finally overtaken me... Royce has written some fine parodies with just my quirky sort of humour.
#6 Rice&Watt
Great range of parodies - witty and sharp.
#7 Guy DiRito
For his techie parodies - Workin in old EDLIN/Parity Error
#8 Claude Prez
If only for parodying one of my all-time favourites "Dream On" by Aerosmith... But nobody's in this list for just one song- he's done a lot of good ones.
#9#10 The Florio Brothers... I didn't want to cause internecine strife by putting one above the other :-) Between them, they've done some great parodies.
Honorable Mentions:
Taoist - Underrated - doesn't write many, but they're good.
Melhi - Again, a quirky kind of humour. I especially like "Stealin' Movies" (59th Bridge St Song)
Bob Gomez - Nearly got into the top ten on the strength of "Only 14"...
New kids on the block:
Floyd's Garage/Spaff - both started pretty well. Definitely ones to watch.

I have to say (as I know Merry also would) that I am sincerely flattered by your comments. :-[ :) :D
Merry and I really must get around to making our list...sorry people!
I get a good laugh out of most of the stuff I see, my only restriction is that as 'older' contributors, both Merry and I are sometimes left thinking "What is that song (the original)"...so, Phil, you are not alone in the old fogey club ;D
Subject: Re: Top Ten AmIRight Artists
Definitely not alone ;D And I totally missed you guys (Merry and Pippen) on my list, an oversight. You guys/gals/whatever do great work, I always enjoy reading your stuff.
Subject: Re: Top Ten AmIRight Artists
10. Merry & Pippin - brilliant!
HIGHLIGHTS: "Billy Please Be Our Boy Toy", "Don't Ride On The Subway", "Choosing My Religion", "Pass The Munchies".
9. Mike & Billy Florio - who could leave the brothers off their list? :D
HIGHLIGHTS: Mike - "(I Wanna Light The) Menorah, Please", "Bill And Hillary Down In...", "MTV Killed The Video Star", "This Shirt Is So Tight", "Yellow Listerine"
Billy - "Are You A Boy Or A Girl", "It's Just Irrational/The Pi Song", "Pork The Other White Meat", "Ralph Nader"
8. Ghetto John - a great writer!
HIGHLIGHTS: "Wonder Bra", "Vote Together", "Corn Dog", "I'm Still A Clown"
7. Tone-Def - I think he's had some of the most original ideas for parodies on this site. "(Please Do Not) Eat From The Knowledge Tree" was very good and innovative!
HIGHLIGHTS: "Avril Lavigne", "Froot Loops", "It Wasn't Meat", "Snitch (Teaching Young Wizards About Quidditch)", "Sick Of Himm", and "You're So Lame (I Can't Believe Your Song Is About Shoes)" are all great! The operas were brilliant.
6. Spaff.com - very awesome stuff. "Landed By Boardwalk" is definitely in my list of the top 20 parodies of all time.
HIGHLIGHTS: "Landed On Boardwalk", "LPGA", "Nailing Charlie's Angels", "Jell-o".
5. Lenny Quites - let me say, "Whitney Houston and Mariah Carey Singing While On Crack and/or Cracking Up", was the single most funniest parody I've read on amIright.
HIGHLIGHTS: "Whitney Houston and Mariah...", "Police Chase", "Biological and Chemical Weapons", "Spanking Time".
4. Phil Alexander - amazing.
HIGHLIGHTS: "Puff The Tragic Drag Act", "A Plea For The Spice Girls...", "Sh!tty Sh!tty Remakes", "Sixteen Buns".
3. My Name Is Kenny - awesome. I would like to see new parodies more often though :-P.
HIGHLIGHTS: "Michael Jackson", "Sick Of TRL", "Back Hair", "Welcome To McDonalds"
2. Lebeiw15 - Much funniness. :P
HIGHLIGHTS: "Tony The Tiger", "Overplayed Pop Stars Song", "Hooked On Phonics", "Roast Beef".
1. S.T.G. - S-T-G...what's that spell? Number 1! hehe. ::) ;D
HIGHLIGHTS: "Destiny's Child Legacy", "Hoover Dirtbag", "Road Trip" (with me and DJ!), "Gotta Get Mac", "Jerry Springer"
Honorable Mentions: DarkJon64, wdh, Jared Lerner, William Tong, Rock Princess, Syncronos, Jeff Rueben, Mike Armstrong, Xander999, Matthwalha Quincy Ishmael (?), Rice Cube and Watt Diddy (sorry for not including you on the list earlier - brain fart) and all the other people who rock my socks. :D
Subject: Re: Top Ten AmIRight Artists
Woohoo, I got an honorable mention! An all-time high! Thanks Junior!
Subject: Re: Top Ten AmIRight Artists
Part of me is reluctant to do this, because there are too many people I have to leave out in a restricted list.....
So as previously stated by me in different places, I will qualify that my choices are based solely on the humor and use of words, and NOT the subject matter or content, because frankly, nothing is sacred in parody-land :o :P
1. Royce Miller
2. Phil Alexander
3. Claude Prez
4. Malcolm Higgins
5. Rice Cube & Watt Daddy
6. Mike Florio
7. Billy Florio
8. Guy DiRito
9. Bob Gomez
10. Stray Pooch
11. William Tong
Subject: Re: Top Ten AmIRight Artists
Well, Pip and I are sufficiently alike that we were able to agree on the same top 11, but sufficiently different to want them in different orders! (Ain't individuality wonderful? ;D )
In reverse order:
11. Rice & Watt (Hiding My Porno is a classic!)
10. Tong (because those valiums keep me mellow)
9. Malcolm (for the clever things he does with oreos and because we still want to sleep with him! :o )
8. Billy Florio
7. Michael Florio (The "Road Kill Song" put him a notch ahead of Billy! :o )
6. Stray Pooch (on the strength of Downtown2003 and the Copier Guy alone! :D )
5. Royce Miller
4. Phil Alexander
3. Bob Gomez
2. Guy DiRito (a whiz with words!)
1. Claude Prez (never does anything worth less than 5-5-5!)

ok i'm doing mine now but i'll start at #1 because going backwards would mean i'd have to write it down first.

Same here. I got a rating of 4.03 with 131 votes. It's funny, I write what I think is a great parody, it gets high marks by one or two people, then it's forgotten.

So many good people writing out here. Hard to say who should be in this top ten.
Subject: Re: Top Ten AmIRight Artists
I’ve held off registering here for awhile; seems like a whole new level of time commitment, plus I’m way too chickens**t to post a list of favorites. I appreciate everyone who mentioned me and wish I could do something to make people who’ve been underappreciated feel better. I considered starting a thread of top ten overlooked writers but then the people who don’t get mentioned in THAT thread would feel even worse; there’s no way around it. One thing that I’d like to point out is just how popular this site has become--I get the impression that some of the underappreciated writers, especially the younger ones, would have had much more success if they’d been here from the beginning; It just stands to reason. It’s like this crapload of invaders (like me for example) came in and ruined a party or something. I’d also like to mention that it makes sense to me that a lot of the writers on the top ten lists are older--I’d be embarrassed as hell to show people stuff I wrote in high school. It’s amazing to me just how many excellent young writers there are here, who clearly put in a lot of effort to do something creative. Anyway, I hope I don’t sound like a jerk or anything; I just hate to see people get discouraged over something like this. Thanks.

So tell me, what was it like in the early days? I've been on this site just over two months. I see some of the all time hits have hundreds of votes on them. Just how many people frequent this site? It would seem to me that not too many people frequent right now or at least they don't vote. Is there anyway to tell how many times a particular song has been looked at like this thread shows how many times it has been viewed. Does anyone know why is there such a discrepancy in ratio to votes of the person in first place to the rest of the board. Number two person is about 100 songs behind number one, but number 1 has 10 times more votes? I don't get it. I guess I'd have had to be here a lot longer to understand that.
So my favorites? No particular order but I list those I like reading as Royce M., Phil A., Florios, sometimes Malcolm, Wildman, Sometimes W. Tong when he does something other than scrub or pResident. It is good but just gets old. Sometimes Michael P., Tone Def, Rice Cube and for sure Merry and Pippin, and Bubba. Can't remember the rest but I'm sure there are more. But not particular order to my list. There are a lot of great writers out here. Really enjoy this site.

Some interesting questions, some of which I wonder about myself...
A good M&P parody may get into the high 20's or mid 30's, a not as good one in the teens.
I look at the top 10 and wonder to myself how they got hundred's of votes. I can only assume there are not as many people frequenting the site, but then again, in the 6 months or so that I have been here, it seems to be getting more popular, so who can pick it?

Well, I believe initially it'll only have, say 20 votes tops. Then, when people see it make the Top 10, they all want to read it, because it obviously must be good, to make the top 10. Then they all vote on it, and just like that there are lots of votes, I guess.
