I was thinking of replacing Amiright Idol with something more like Survivor.
1st round (58 people or whatever), anyone involved must vote on all parodies submitted to get us down to say, 8. You don't vote, you don't move on. That rule stays for all rounds, so we won't have a problem with judges dropping out.
After that, vote off one person per round till you get to 2. Then, the people in the final 8 vote on the two that made it to the end.
The downside is that someone could be strategic and try to vote "better" parody authors out, but I would hope that we could vote honestly (on other people's parodies).
Someone would have to pick the topics again.
Any thoughts on something like that?

sounds good but i think the first round topic should probably be a bit tougher than the other early rounds but not impossible either so we dpon't have to eliminate too many people first round like we did in american idol. If you're thinking everyone should vote out of 5 and then have that added up that might be too much trouble i think we should all vote for a "weakest link" and the host should be able to pick 1 or 2 outstandanding parodies per round for immunity to prevent dishonest voting off of the best writers

Also old parodies should be off limits for this contest... now any volunteers to host?

I was just thinking about something like this...
Subject: Re: Anyone got any ideas for...
I could host it, if you want me to
just tell me what to do, and I'd be fine.
Subject: Re: Anyone got any ideas for...
I meant to say that too...so...good idea! All parodies entered should be new.

i second stg's self-nomination as host... i think the rules for the contest have been basically described in this thread and its up to the host to decide the rest
Subject: Re: Anyone got any ideas for...
I've actually never watched the Weakest Link...so my only questions are anything specific to that show.
Subject: Re: Anyone got any ideas for...
i think the only part of the weakest link i was thinking of for this contest is also part of survivor - which i never really watched - that the contestants vote for who did the worst job.

Subject: Re: Anyone got any ideas for...
so are we going to have a contest?
Subject: Re: Anyone got any ideas for...
I'm all for a summer contest, and I could use some inspiration to start writing again, so count me in if we're actually gonna get it off the ground.
Subject: Re: Anyone got any ideas for...
i wanted to be a contestant in this contest but since it seems that nobody else wants to do it i'm going to run it myself.I'm going to start a new thread with the rules
