scratch that, it does sound stupid. :D
on mp3.com, are there any actual mp3's? i keep looking at the site, hoping to one day figure out how you download songs, but i really can't figure it out! do you have to become a member of some site, or are the artists i'm looking at not giving away downloads?

go to the corner at the top where it says "Join Now!" (not Free Trial or Get Started...those are links to other sites).
Under the listen tab, it will lead you to low-quality and high-quality links of the song. Click one of those, based on your connection, and Winamp or some other program should pop up and play the song. If you like it, click on the artist's name. Most likely, there will be a button/link where you can download the song. Very rarely popular artists will be allowing downloads for their songs, but most artists there will.
