Subject: What is really going on here?
Written By: Streetwave on 06/09/03 at 11:20 a.m.
While scanning through the real lyrics section looking for something funny I was greatly disappointed by the ignorance and just plain apathy. If a singer or band includes a lyric you find dumb then that is totally cool, that was my reason for exploring this site. But most of what I found were inaccurate, blatantly white misunderstandings of lyrics and some well known information about the artists.
Ludacris 's, "'Saturday{Ohhh Ohhh}'"
The Inappropriate Lyrics:
Haters get sprayed like aftro-sheen
but they don't really wanna pop them thangz
Why They're Inappropriate:
Well if you ask me Ludacris is the one hating because if you look he has a aftro too. So I guess he just got dissed
Submitted by: Ashley
Way to go Ashley, I think you wanted to "diss" him...a hidden agenda, is it because he has an afro too?
Nirvana's, "Come As You Are"
The Inappropriate Lyrics:
I swear that I don't have a gun, no I don't have a gun
Why They're Inappropriate:
It's true, you know - caya is on Nevermind which came out in 91, and far as I know Cobain bought a gun only in March 94. Seems he really didn't have one when he wrote the song. But why the hell does he need to mention that?
Submitted by: stephanie
Next time, read the whole article and start at the front. Yes, all that you said about march is true, but he owned many before that. Are you the type of person who only buys a gun to kill yourself?
50 Cent's, "Wanksta "
The Inappropriate Lyrics:
i got the sickest phonetta
when it comes to my chedda
and if u play with my paper
u going to meet my berretta
Why They're Inappropriate:
bad enough he has a name that isn't worth a whole dollar. but i have to draw the line with his contest to see how many words can rhyme with the sound 'etta'. and what the hell is phonetta anyway. no need to make up words in place of his lack of lyrical content.

Yes, no one is supporting half-dollar here, but you have no place to talk seeing as JFK beat you on the 9th grade vocab test by seizing the victory with vendetta. Keep up the good work!
Missy Elliot's, "Get Ur Freak On"
The Inappropriate Lyrics:
Holla! Ain't no stoppin' me
Copywritten so don't copy me
Why They're Inappropriate:
This would be a cool and clever line... if only the word wasn't 'copyrighted' instead of 'copywritten.'

Cool.
Tupac Shakur's, "California Love"
The Inappropriate Lyrics:
We're in the Sunshine State
Why They're Inappropriate:
Actually, Tupac, California is the Golden State. Florida is the Sunshine State.

Nice.
See, it's not that hard. Feel free to share your thoughts, or defend yourself.

I'm not sure if that was your point, but here's what I found:
Queen's, "Bohemeian Rhapsody"
The Nonsensical Lyrics:
Is this the real life?
Is this just fantasy?
Caught in a landslide,
no escape from reality.
Why They're Nonsensical:
Wouldn't you be dead already if you were caught in a landslide?

Now THAT'S what I call misunderstanding the lyrics! Has Celeste never heard of the word "metaphore"? ::) Funny she had a go at the one line in the song that actually does make sense...

Hi Streetwave (I'm getting the 80s feeling already)! :D
Welcome to the forum. About Celeste's misunderstanding of the lyrics, maybe she didn't do English literature at school.
I get what you mean though, Rock Princess. She would have lots of trouble listening to A-ha (ha! ha!) ;D
Cheers
Bobby.

And then there's THIS... ::)
Van Halen's, "And The Cradle Will Rock"
The funny Lyrics:
Have you seen Junior's grades?
Why They're funny:
I really like that song! The guitar intro sounds like a revving engine. 'Cool' is the Van Halen compilation, but it's not, it's the one I've made up. Junior has an 'F' on Civics, he's unpatriotic. I have an 'A+' on Civics.

And THIS... ::)
Abba's, "King Kong Song"
The funny Lyrics:
We do the King Kong Song
You gotta sing along
Listen to the music and it couldn't go wrong!
Why They're funny:
This isn't the sort of song abba would flower on, even if it's on the same album as 'Waterloo'. A dolly attempt to sound hard and funky, the whole song is juvenile. But the real fun is that they got sidetracked just at this point. Bjorn Ulvaeus has told the story of a show in Stockholm Concert Hall in '74: 'In the middle of 'King Kong Song' there's a kind of percussion break, and then the girls shout Aaaarggh! and the chorus returns. Now, at that point one of the girls got in screaming two beats too early, and half the musicians followed her, and us others went on as it was supposed to be. From then on we couldn't hook up again. The song just ran away and petered out...
