Subject: How do I convert this audio file...

Written By: iam4iu42 on 05/26/03 at 08:07 p.m.

OK, so Jordan and I recorded a song of ours, "Scott's Song", and put it on a CD, however both of us are computer illiterate and do not know how to convert it into a file that is convertible to the website.  If anyone could explain this to me, I'd be much obliged.  It's a CDA file, and I need to get it to MP3 form, or some other form, so basically I just need help.  Thanks to anyone who can explain this to me.

Not familiar with CDA format.  Is it actually in a file, or just on a CD somewhere?  You might be able to convert it using Sound Recorder in the accessories tab in Windows.  Otherwise, you might need to get some software to do it.

I finally got around  to making some recordings using the very um professional method of play midi files really loud and singing into a computer microphone. So now they're WMA's and not  on a CD at the moment. Anyone know how to convert those into something i can put on amiright?

Check out the Diskwriter component for WinAmp: anything that WinAmp can play, it can write as an audio file, including MP3 (it says "if the correct libraries are present" - I'm not sure exactly which ones it's looking for, but they must be present on my machine as it writes MP3s quite happily)

I highly recommend dbPowerAmp

http://www.dbpoweramp.com/

they have a program for converting from CD, and they have a program for converting one format to another. You just download LAME for mp3s and plug it in.. probably one of the few shareware packages I've registered in the past few years, definitely worth the money.
