Just got the album...it's hilarious!  The polka and the Eminem spoof are excellent.  It really sucks that Em won't let him do the video...it would've been excellent.

i got the album on my way back from work today and listened to it immediately... my favorite parody on there was  the complicated one but they were all good. Out of the originals my favorite were "why does this always happen to me" and "genius in france" (even though it was a tad bit long)

I don't know if anyone mentioned it before jeff did in this thread but an amiright retreat sounds good to me. It should be in a location thats pretty central with respect to the majority of the amiright community (USA and England) like bethpage state park in nassau county, long island. And ive got more ideas but i dont want to plan too much too far in advance

The Angry White Boy polka has a very fitting ending:

Slim Shady won't you please stand up!
Stand up Shady!  (Stand up)
Stand up Shady!  (Stand up)
Stand up Shady!
Shady won't you please stand up!

I just picked up my copy of the album.  This is one of his best!!!  I thought all of the parodies were excellent.  I also liked his original songs "Why Does This Always Happen To Me?" which features  Ben Folds on piano, and "Bob" which sounds like a Bob Dylan songs.  This song lyrics are all palindromes. "Go hang a salami.  I'm a lasagna hog."  It reads the same forwards and backwards.  "Genius in France" is supposed to be a tribute to Frank Zappa.  It features his son Dweezil Zappa on guitar.

I just heard "Poodle Hat" and enjoyed it, particularly "Couch Potato" and "Angry White Boy Polka."

But I still think that the best song parodies are performed by the Capitol Steps, who do primarily political parodies.  Sometimes I get annoyed at the humor they poke at the political right, but they are fairly balanced - mostly poking fun at whichever party is in power.  If you are not familiar with them, I recommend checking out their web site - http://www.capsteps.com.

I liked RWS better, but this is still an excellent album. My favorites are "A Complicated Song", "Why Does This Always Happen To Me", "Angry White Boy Polka", "Ode To A Superhero", "Wanna B Ur Luvr", and "E-Bay."

Does anyone know where I can get lyrics on the 'net for the songs on this album?

I still haven't gotten the new album yet.  What is WRONG with me?!

www.com-www.com/weirdal/

In addition to the lyrics, this has a list telling you which songs are and aren't by Weird Al.
I believe S.T.G.'s "Bong Song" gets a mention on one of those types of lists, if not this one.

Edit: Correction: It's S.T.G's "My Name Is...Darth Vader".

Thanks for that site, Junior!  I'm bookmarking it...

Except now I don't even need the lyrics to Poodle Hat, because they come in that handy little booklet that comes with the CD.

By the way, it freaked me out when I opened the CD case and saw a closeup of Al's face!  But it's funny!   ;D

Haha! Same here.

BTW, you MUST see the home movies - they're HILARIOUS.

Yes, Poodle Hat is an Enhanced CD.  There are Home Movies, song lyrics, and a few remixes of some of the songs on the CD.

Tickets go on sale for his concert here in St. Louis tonight at 5:00pm.  He's going to have 2 shows on August 2.  I would like to see both shows.  His concerts are amazing.  There's people from all age groups there.  In between songs, when he has to make a costume change, he shows funny movies.  These look like educational films from the 50s and 60s.  They're hysterical.  If you ever get the chance to see one of his shows, I highly recommend that you do.

I think this might be my favorite Al album.  My favorite songs on this album are "Couch Potato", "Hardware Store" (amazing), "Wanna B Ur Lovr", "Why Does This Always Happen to Me", "Bob" (also amazing), and "Ebay".  "Trash Day" is funny, so is "Angry White Boy Polka", "Ode to a Superhero" and "Genius in France".  "Party at the Leper Colony" and "A Complicated Song" are pretty good but I didn't like them as much as the other songs.  Overall I think I would give it 9 out of 10 stars.

ETA:  The last 15 seconds at the very end of "Ebay" cracks me up!!

"Party At The Leper Colony", "Trash Day", "Bob (although songwriting is amazing), and "Genius In France" (probably cuz I dunt know enough about Zappa) didn't do it for me, otherwise the album is awesome.

E-Bay is hilarious! :D
