Do you mean "Oh Sherry" by Steve Perry of Journey?
Oh Sherry
You should've been gone
Knowing how I made you feel
And I should've been gone
After all your words of steel
Oh I must've been a dreamer
And I must've been someone else
And we should've been over
Oh Sherry, our love
Holds on, holds on
Oh Sherry, our love
Holds on, holds on
But I want to let go
You'll go on hurtin' me
You'd be better off alone
If I'm not who you thought I'd be
But you know that there's a fever
Oh that you'll never find nowhere else
Can't you feel it burnin' on and on
(chorus)
But I should've been gone
Long ago, far away
And you should've been gone
Now I know just why you stay
(chorus)
Oh Sherry, our love
Holds on, holds on

Actually, M3 did - it's his spelling that's off. I'm pretty sure he's referring to "Hot Cherie" by Danny Spanos, a minor hit here in the U.S. in the Fall of '83. It was off his 1983 EP, Passion in the Dark. I have the EP on cassette myself... :)
In the Fall of '92, the group Hardline (which included guitarist Neal Schon, so there actually is a Journey connection to this) also scored a minor hit here in the U.S. w/ a cover of the song. Their version appeared on the band's 1992 album, Double Eclipse...
Both Spanos' '83 original and Hardline's '92 cover were moderate AOR hits as well. I'll let you hunt down the lyrics for M3... :)
