Subject: Do you have an online recording of your parody?
I will be nearing completion of my new parody section soon, I've got most of the details worked out for submitting parody performances, I just have to finish the presentation of approved entries.
I'm going to try and take a break from working on my final projects tonight and get it into working shape. This section will appear on the front page, directly below the "What's New" section on the front page of the site, and will only display five entries at a time. Since I don't expect dozens of entries a day, I think it would be excellent exposure for up and coming parody performers. There will also be a comments section for the performances, but no voting.
Also, I am not limiting this to parodies. For recordings, it can be any comedy performance. It does however still have to be MUSIC. No prank caller or stand up type stuff. The site motto after all, is "Making fun of music, one song at a time".
So if you have a recording, send me email (chuck@worcestermass.com) and I'll give you the URL to submit through. I want to gauge the appearance, how easy it is to submit, etc. with a few testers before it goes live. Plus I want a half dozen parodies on the front page the first day it's seen by the site visitors, to help spark interest.
People have been asking for something like this for awhile, and I hope it's the type of thing which sparks interest in the site.

I've actually finished the section.. didn't require as much work as I thought.. wish I had finished it when I started on it last week.
I just need some real data to go live with. So whoever I hear from first, will get the honors of being the first in the new section.

My parody, "Lead Junk" (sung to "Dead Skunk" by Loudon Wainwright) was recorded during a live performance by me and my band in April 2002. The MP3 is posted here:

Thanks, Chuck!

you'll need to add it yourself, since I ask parody authors to put in a description, and I don't want to write one for you.. I'll email you the URL of the new script.. it should be live today or tomorrow.

The section is now officially launched and available on the front page of the website.
