Subject: Evanescence
I don't know how many of you have heard of this band, but for those who have, am I the only person who thinks they sound a lot like Portishead?

I agree, esp. her voice. You know I found myself REALLY disliking them at first, but now that I bought the CD, they are GREAT! I highly recommend that CD.
Just my $.02 ;)

Nope, you're not the only one, I think so too :). I agree with princessofpop about the voice, although I haven't bought the CD yet, think I'll wait for another single before I decide... :D

Singer Amy Lee is bad(in a good way!) Just something about her voice that keeps me listening. I usually don't listen to that type of music but her voice is just irresistable.

Mm...I don't about the girl in the band but the formost male lead singer I find really hot. They're a really tight band....but from what I've heard the CD isn't the best. ???

I like "Bring Me to Life." It makes me think of Tori Amos singing as a guest vocalist for Linkin Park... which is odd, considering I don't like Tori Amos or Linkin Park.

The CD isn't the best, but it is damn good (excuse my French, lol). The lyrics seemed slightly out of place, but overall it was catchy and, for lack of a better word, awesome. I bought it on the same night I bought two other CDs - Linkin Park "Renanimation", and Audioslave self-titled debut...and LP was first, Evanescence was second, and Audioslave was the least best (although not bad, just not as good as the others).
BTW, the band doesn't actually have a male singer - Paul McCoy, who did the male vocals on "Bring Me To Life" - was a guest vocalist, he's from the band 12 Stones.

thats funny, I thought Audioslaves debut album was terrific and Lp's was horrible (but then again, I hate LP and like Chris Cornell and kinda like Rage), anyway, i havent heard much evanescence, only Bring me to life, which made me think the same exact way kenny did, Tori Amos singing for LP, and I dont like either of them either (I think I hate Tori Amos more than LP), so, I didnt really like evanescence .....
some of LP's stuff is catchy, but not quality....Im pretty skeptical about the whole nu-metal thing
