Lyrics are shown below. When I was in college, the story was that this song was about group gay sex encounters. ("Climbed aborard the dream weaver train... leave tomorrow behind... get me thru the night")
But I don't know if that is completely correct. There is a lyric that refers to "Take me back to the dark side of the moon" which I think is an hommage to Pink Floyd.
================================
I've just closed my eyes again
Climbed aboard the dream weaver train
Driver take away my worries of today
And leave tomorrow behind
Chorus:
Dream weaver I believe you can get me through the night
Dream weaver I believe we can reach the morning light
Fly me high through the starry skies
Maybe to an astroplane
Cross the highways of fantasy
Help me to forget todays pain
Chorus:
Though the dawn may be coming soon
There still may be some time
Fly me away to the dark side of the moon
And meet me on the other side
Chorus: . . . . . . .

I always heard it was about drugs. I think heroin???

I have always assumed this song was about going to sleep and dreaming to escape the pressures of the day. the driver would refer to the sandman who would take him to dreamland and he wouldnt think about his troubles for a few hours in the hopes that things would look better in the morning.

I had to pull out my copy of "Dream Weaver" to-night to listen to it. It sounds sooo much like a reference to drugs. It totally smacks of... smack!
