Subject: Voting on parodies, where you never heard the song
Written By: Klarissa on 02/23/03 at 07:14 p.m.
The other thread about writing parodies to songs that the author hasn't heard before brings me to this complaint...
I get the feeling that there are a lot of people giving poor voting results to songs they haven't heard before! I was just wondering if anyone else finds this annoying. I personally don't vote on songs that I have no idea how they go to be fair to the author.

To vote on pacing on a song you have never heard of is tough, but just go by how well the words flow and that kind of thing..

we should have links to good midi sites here so if someone likes a parody but doesnt know the original they can find out how it goes and vote.

There have been a couple of times that I've voted on song that I don't know how well they go, and I just give them whatever the pacing score is already so I don't change the voting results in the pacing area. The idea of how well the words flow doesn't work in all cases because the original song may be odd.
The example I'm going to use for this is my parody to the Pixies song, "Caribou." (Mine is "Cannibal.)http://www.amiright.com/parody/misc/thepixies0.shtml
These are the real lyrics:
PIXIES LYRICS
"Caribou"
I live cement
I hate this street
Give dirt to me
I bite lament
This human form
Where I was born
I now repent
Caribou
Repent
Re-pe-ent
Give me white
Ground to run
And foregone
Lets me knife
Knife me lets
I will get
What I like
Caribou
Repent
Rep-pent
Ciao,
