She, the commercial, and that great song, "Genius of Love" by Tom Tom Club(which was sampled by Mariah Carey in "Fantasy" and "Heartbreaker") are very popular right now. This commercial is still shown all the time.

Mark

Actually, the song sampled in "Heartbreaker" was Stacy Lattisaw's "Attack of the Name Game"...

i'll try to find it, but i swear Entertainment Weekly did a review of Mariah Carey's album, "Rainbow", which "Heartbreaker" is on, and they said that she used a sample of "Genius of Love" again, and that's why they were making fun of the song. I'll to find it to make sure I'm not crazy. There could be more than one sample used. I'll find out. Later,
Mark ???

OK, here is the quote from the review I read, back when Heartbreaker came out. It wasn't Entertainment Weekly that it was in, like I thought, it was Rolling Stone.
Here is the quote:
On the first single, "Heartbreaker," which (like 1995's "Fantasy") owes its musical grounding to Tom Tom Club's "Genius of Love," the singer is at her most insinuating: nasal, silken, declarative, riding the percolating beat.
I guess I was misinformed by a journalist who didn't have his facts straight. Although, it could have some sort of sample from "Genius of Love," but he probably just got it wrong.

Whoa, maybe I have seen the commercial. Cuz I do remember a car commercial with the song "Genius of Love" playing, and two people driving. I guess I never noticed that it was for KIA and I guess I didn't notice the young lady. But I haven't seen the ad since I posted the message the other day.

Next time I see a car ad come on the TV with "Genius of love", I guess I should pay close attention.

Oh yeah. 8)

It's kind of cool that a lot of great 80's stuff is being used on commercials right now (although it p*sses me off that these same songs are "sampled" by newer artists and passed off as their own!). I've always been a huge fan of the Tom Tom Club. Didja know that they were formed by Tina Weymouth (of the Talking Heads) and some of her family.
