Your "mystery song" is "Love Me" by Yvonne Elliman, a big hit here in the U.S. in the Fall of '76. (It was written by Barry Gibb & Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees.) It was off her 1976 album, also titled Love Me. Unfortunately, the album is long out-of-print and has never been re-issued on CD here in the U.S...

Don't know if another female singer has covered it in the last three years or not - but if someone has, I'm sure you'll find Elliman's 1976 original tops it! ;)

Indeed, Martine McCutcheon's followup single, after her debut Perfect Moment WAS called "Love Me", in the year 2000.
