I was just wondering people's favorite lyrics in general : I know that I often use song lyrics for my away messages on AOL Instant Messenger, and so many song lyrics have good messages. Leave a top 5, or top 10, or top however many you feel like leaving :) Feel free to talk about why you like that lyric too.
5. "The price of a memory, is the memory of the sorrow it brings." Counting Crows - Mrs. Potter's Lullabye - MY OPINION - I just like this lyric cuz it's so damn... true.
4. "Now the court square's just a set of streets, and people go around but they seldom think, bout the little man, who built this town, before the big money shut em down." Alan Jackson - Little Man - MY OPINION... This is my favorite country lyric cuz it personifies a lot of what country music really is - down home music - music about where you're from, where it is that was important before the artist was important.
3. "He said, I'd love to dad, if I could find the time. Ya see my new job's a hassle, and the kids have the flu, but it's been sure nice talkin to you, dad, it's been sure nice talkin to you." Harry Chapin - Cats in the Cradle - MY OPINION... The ultimate lyric that makes you say, "You deserved that." I think the lyric deserves to be on there, cuz there have been SO MANY songs since then, that have tried to copy this lyric's message. (See : John Anderson - I Wish I Coulda Been There)
2. "And every now and then I kick the living shit out of me." Lit - My Own Worst Enemy - MY OPINION... Just one of my favorties, no real reason.
1. "They say that these are not the best of times, but they're the only times I've ever known." Billy Joel - Summer Highland Falls - MY OPINION... How cool of a line is that. Just a "So what, I like what I have" line. And it's my favorite.

I've always liked, "...so there was only one thing that I could do was ding-a-ding-dang-my-dang-a-long-ling-long..."
It's stoopid. It's funny. It's...stunny... :P
Likewise, I've always thought many of U2's lyrics are 'heavy' for lack of a better term. Just a few examples...
