Subject: gangsta's/amish paradise
I'm working on a gangstas paradise parody at the moment... its pretty hard. Ive also noticed that weird al's version has the pacing way off with parodied lines way out of order. and hes a professional. so maybe the voters should cut us amateurs some slack

There's a huge difference in what gets good votes and what works as a performed parody: what makes Weird Al so special is not just the parodies themselves, but the performance of his parodies which add a beautiful level of mickey-take to the original.
I've said this on several occasions, but the parodies of mine which seem to go down best with an audience have not been the ones which get well-voted...

I finished the song... should be up tomorrow. Its my goodbye song to submitting here for the next 3 weeks or so which for me is a long time. Anyway i'll be spending most of my time in the next few weeks writing papers.

So? His song "Ricky" which is a parody of Toni Basil's "Mickey" has some pacing that's kinda off, too. For instance, he inserts the "I Love Lucy" theme at the end of his version.
