Subject: Song Names / Artists
Thanks to the web and searching on GOOGLE, I have gotten most every song that I could think of. I am now down to fragments that come to me which are not enough to search on- yet.
Any help on the following 3 is appreciated:
1- mid 80'sish, pretty sure it was newer version of Kansas (maybe Survivor?), had lyrics something like:
"Some people live their dreams, some people close their eyes, that's how our love must be, don't ask why. There are no guarantees, there are no alibis, blah blah blah blah blah blah, don't ask why"
They don't say don't ask why in both spots - i just don;t remember the other phrase.
2- mid 80's? silly song that had a guy saying "My name's Eugene, I'm a cool dude in a loose mood"
3- early 80's / late 70's - possibly Little Feet?. Pretty sure song starts with sounds of crickets and guying saying "Shut up!, Shut up!". Song starts and eventually has chorus "say it ain't true, say it aint true, linda lou."

I think that your first song is "An innocent man" by Billy Joel...
Great song...off of the album intitled "An innocent man" an album where Billy Joel was trying different things...he had doo-wop like songs on it(longest time), Sinotra like(Easy money), classical like(Keeping the faith), and blues like(Christie Lee). It is made on CD, infact I have it on CD. I think it was also on Billy Joels greatest hits number 3, it wasnt on number 2 because Billy Joel exceeded his maximum on that album, so he had to put his last two realices(An Innocent man, and Keeping the FAith) on number 3 instead.

;) I'll try to be a little more helpful Steven - :)
Your first set of lyrics are to:
TOTO - "I'll Be Over You"
Some people live their dreams
Some people close their eyes
Some people's destiny
Passes by
There are no guarantees
There are no alibis
That's how our love must be
Don't ask why
It takes some time
God knows how long
I know that I can forget you
As soon as my heart stops breakin'
Anticipating
As soon as forever is through
I'll be over you
Remembering times gone by
Promises we once made
What are the reasons why
Nothing stays the same
There were the nights holding you close
Someday I'll try to forget them
Someday I'll be over you

But ya cant tell me it wasnt a good guess...
I know the lyrics to "An innocent man" are like
"Some people stay away from the door if theres a chance of it opening up, they hear a voice in teh hall outside and hope that it just passes by, some people live with the fear of a touch and the angor of having been a fool..."

Could you provide anymore lines to the other 2?
I've had no luck yet, either. :-/

Hey, just the fact that you're trying to help is commendable, IMO. :) 8) :) 8) And so on...

TOTO - "I'll BE OVER YOU". Thats it!
One down ,2 to go.
Sorry, I can't remember any more of the other 2.
All i can offer on the one with "Say it aint true , Linda Lou" is that it has a kind of southern rock sound to it and i'm pretty sure the words "rip off" are in a phrase just before they "say it ain't true Linda Lou" which, as far as I can recall, is the chorus (the say it ain't true piece).
The cadence of the "rip off" phrase, with me completely fabricting the words around "rip off", is something like
"you take off, get ripped off, don't know what to do"
"say it aint true, say it ain't true, say it ain't true" ("true held for 2beats, followed by)
"say it ain't true, linda lou.
Thanks for the help. Hopefully, once this is figured out, it will not be a song that I say "oh, not as good as I thought it was, this song sucks". But the fun is figuring out the puzzle, you know what I mean!

#2 is "Eugene" by Crazy Joe & The Variable Speed Band.
#3 is indeed Little Feet. The song is "Down on the Farm" off album Down on the Farm from 79. Check link:http://www.marcogiunco.com/dischi/000882.htm

Thanks "TX", I checked the link and found a clip on CDNOW - Down on the Farm is what I was thinking of. "Eugene" will be harder to find.
Funny how memory works after not hearing the song for 20 years. The part in Down on the Farm that I thought was saying "rip off" is the "pigs bawl" portion of the actual song phrase
"The cows bawl, the pigs bawl
The horses bawl, too"
I can sleep now. Well, I can sleep after I can find he songs.
Thanks again,

I have a mp3 of "Eugene."
