Subject: Messageboard idea/ submitting idea
I think there should be a parody board seperate from this misheard lyrics one, that way they would be less cluttered... the parody one would be for parody writing tips, new parody suggestions, getting into duets, etc., and the misheard lyrics would still keep coming through here. Only problem I can think of is that some things like this topic itself (site suggestions, etc.) would only go in one of the two, I would suggest this one.
The other idea I had would be to allow parody writers who write often to post their songs without having them being checked over, and therefore could be posted right away to the days songs, and would save some updating time.
There was one more idea I had, but I can't remember it now. But I must say I really like the voting totals on the authors page!

I don't think this board has become that cluttered yet.. plus there really aren't enough posts about song lyrics to really justify their own board.. but I'm sure if the board keeps growing at it's current pace, it will get split at some point, so I probably will split them like you suggested

I would, but even some of the "veterans" of the site, sometimes submit objectional material..
plus I think there's some value for visitors to the site to be able to tell when the site has been updated.. if I update in the morning, and someone checks around noon, they'll see the list, look at they want, and return the next day.
If the site gets updated 4 hours later with another couple parodies, the person who checked the day before, probably won't recheck the previous day's entries for parodies that were added since their last check.. and even if they did, it would be hard to see what was new
the only reliable solution to that, if I were to allow updates at any time of the day, is to give people accounts, and show them what changed since their last visit. a lot of extra work for me, and I think there are more interesting features I could be working on right now
I think a once a day update should be good enough for most people right now.. I don't want to encourage people to keep hitting the site multiple times of the day for new material.. it increases the traffic to the site, and considering I don't run advertising any more, that doesn't gain me anything except the potential need for more bandwidth (which costs more money)

you have Philibo_baggins to thank for bugging me about that again.. it was originally suggested for the main index pages, but I think it is probably best left to the author pages for now.. maybe I'll do the normal index pages at some point, but I'm not sure if that would clutter things up too much or not..

http://www.whatfreaks.com/90s/disneythelittlemermaid0.shtml, for example? Shame, I quite like that one ;-)
I didn't think it was that bad, though "She'll be coming round the mountain" was never even close to amiright cleanliness...

So "I Hate Britney Spears"/I Love Rock 'n' Roll is my most voted on parody? How interesting...

yeah.... i guess my eminem song about wolveroses was deemed questionable... so i gotta agree with chuck on the fact that sometimes even members of the magical 25 get out of hand.
