Subject: no money records
does anyone else think its a little strange that monkey man and ghetto john and those other two who are part of ¨no money records¨ seem to be dominating the charts at the moment. When will tong used to have the charts to himself at least he hadd good songs on the charts. I fully support the right of these people to develop their skills here but their skills are developing and unless i´m way off my judgment they have not developed to the extent to get the kind of votes that have not been seen here in a long time. It seems kind of shady to me. Chucky, could you look into it?

...he must have lots of friends - certainly the votes cast don't reflect the humour of the songs and they certainly ain't funny, though I couldn't say on the pacing as I don't know the originals.

Something is fishy >:(. It's entirely too easy for them to log on to a number of computers at say a college or a library, or even a high school computer lab, and vote for themselves over and over again. But to go from zero to 42 in one or two days? Highly unlikely. ChuckyG, you should check that out

Yup, these are all bogus.. it's impossible to completely prevent voter fraud, but I do track a few things that let me spot it when I suspect something is going on. And these are very blatantly fake votes by the parody authors. in the past the only way to discourage parody authors who did this, was to remove their parodies, which is what I think I am going to do later today.. the votes will certainly get removed, but they'll unfortunately stay up on the votes page for the rest of the day...
I moved the voting results off of the front page of the site to discourage people from feeling a need to get votes to be seen. So the only people who tend to view these pages tend to be the other parody authors. So it's not like they're going to gain a lot of extra people viewing their parodies by boosting their vote count.
I hope that with the comment feature I'm going to write for the parody section, people will be able to get better feedback on their parodies than simple votes tend to yeild anyways, and maybe just elminate the whole feature since it's clear people tend to try and abuse it..

Hey! They knocked Freshman Rhapsody outta the #1 spot for the monthly voting! They must be killed! >:( >:( >:( >:(
Just kidding.

Well, heck. I'm at 22 postings now...I think I'll go find out what happens at 25.

I think it's lame how people have to vote for their own song song 40 times just to get a higher rating, and to "make the charts".. I mean, that's not really the point of the whole thing... I thought that all of those recent parodies by Ghetto John and Monkey madman or whatever were fishy, especially since all the votes were like 4.8-5.0, and that In the End parody was all 5's, of course until I voted for it... :P

well, I did get an email this morning explaining that one of their friends got a little carried away, and that they won't do it again.. so I just deleted the vote files, and reset them..
I didn't delete their parodies, but I did try and make it clear that I would rather remove parodies than allow someone to continue to abuse the system..

That's fair... I notice, too that he's written a parody saying sorry. Pretty cute, but still not really my style of parody ;-)
