Subject: Did I DREAM this song as a kid??

I remember a song that I liked as a kid. It reminds me of something The Box would sing, (I think the title MAY be "Our Town") but I can't find it (or the lyrics, actual title, artist, etc.) anywhere!!
The chorus was:
"It's a funny thing/It's always been that way/It ain't never gonna change, I'd saaaaayyyy...."
One verse contained something like:
"I know it's hard to understand/But you can't have a woman taking work from a man in our town."
Any ideas?? ???
