Subject: Parodies You've Written, But Don't Like

Written By: lebeiw15 on 08/15/02 at 10:23 p.m.

I'm just curious, out of all of your parodies, are there any you don't like?  Which ones?

I don't like my "Every Little Thing She Does is Tragic" parody.  But it was only my second.  Others I regret writing.. "Vegas Vacation" and "Chinese Food" (but that was for a contest).

there are plenty Ive written but dont like, but most of them I never submitted here.... out of what Ive submitted, I dont like my parody 'pork the other white meat" lol, but its doing great on the charts...I guess I shouldnt say I hate it anymorelol...I hate my parody to the RHCP's around the world called "Ralph Nader"...I dont know what I was thinking...I dont like the first one I submitted here..."What becomes of the double punched ballots"..Or a bunch of those election ones i wrote...the rest I like lol
(now if you think those are bad, you should read some of my early ones lol)

I have a few at my Songbook site (http://www.theforce.net/songbook), but I can't get rid of them because people have emailed me and said they were their faves!   ???

well, basically that would be all of my political ones, I was going through a phaze at that time(election 2000) and I was just starting here at the board, but now that I have 50 under my belt, lol, my focus has since changed drastically.  I still submit some political ones, but not at a drastic rate and all like I used to.  I also dont like my political ones because they were too preachey and they said the same exact thing every time, but my newer political ones arent like that :D

Oh, if I could only count the ones that are in various wastebaskets... I try to only post the best and brightest, and the worst and dimmest go into the wastebasket.  Such ill-fated parodies include parodies of "Daniel" by Elton John, "Mr. Jones", by the Counting Crows and "It's a Great Day to Be Alive" by Travis Tritt (This is just the tip of the iceberg).

"They're Robbing Us"
"Watching 'The Mole'"
My part in "This Song's All About Us, Slick"
"Go To MickeyD's"
"Pop Up Video"
are the parodies of mine that I cringe at.

"Genuine DBZ" to Eminem's 'The Real Slim Shady' - an experiement that went horridably (sp?) wrong.

"Turning Very Angry" to Vapors 'Turning Japanese' - it just isn't funny.

"We're Teenz" - To Barenaked Ladies 'One Week' - another experiement gone wrong. I cringe at the chorus.

That's it.

i've found most one week parodies (even al's) don't match up to well with the original ;) either music or the lyrics, one of them is sketchy (al-the music and great luke ski both)

oh as for mine:
"Neighborhood 99" was meant for a bunch of people i hung out at a message board, they could've cared less bout the tribute.
"I am a girl, not to the woman"
"Movies" and "Horror Movies"

I really didn't like the "It's all about Us Slick"
but it was fun.

I didn't like "Bloated Wife"

but hey, the votes tell me alot of my parodies suck.
LOL

:D

I liked 'It's All About Us, Slick' for some reason.

I liked the Luke Ski and Weird Al version, they matched the pacing at least. Compared to my attempt.
'One Week' should be called: The Un-Parody-able Song (lol)
