Subject: Sink of Lard ?
Hey what does the term "sink of lard" mean? Is it some sort of Canadian slang? ???
Celine Dion sings it in the song "The way it is". Here is the verse:
"Don't surrender 'cause you can win In this sink of lard"
By the way Chucky, the site is lookin' nice. 8) Been away for a while.

After listening to my mom's Celine Dion tapes 1,398 times in the car, I always thought it was "Don't surrender, cause you can win, in this THING CALLED LOVE." Just goes to show I can't understand that woman!

So it IS "Thing called love?" I don't know.. I haven't heard it in awhile.
Subject: Re: Sink of Lard ?
Seemingly so. Is there anyone that can't access it that wants to?
Subject: Re: Sink of Lard ?
Well I've listened to it again, several times, today and possibly she could be singing "thing called love", but it still sounds more to me like "sink of lard".
It's about as unintelligible as "Blinded by the Light". Maybe we will never be sure of exactly what she is singing. :-/

Subject: Re: Sink of Lard ?
I believe she is singing about a competition where the winner is the one who can stay the longest in a bath or sink of unpleasant foodstuffs (cold baked beans, rice pudding etc) Obviously the person is about to give up and she tells them not to because they could win if they just stayed in the sink full of lard a bit longer! ;D

ROFL!
Just think, if a different person had won, La Dion might have been singing about "Sink of Vomit"...
