PS I wish I knew more of the originals of the tunes you parody: I haven't even heard of any of those bands, let alone the songs :-( An old fogey signs off...
Subject: Re: New Parodies Coming Up
i submitted two last night:
"The Haunted Mansion" to Eagles "Hotel California"
"About Me" to Eminem's "Without Me"
and ones that i'm working on:
"McDonald's" to Black Lab's "Learn To Crawl" (interesting because I work at McD. and i reference myself as the drive thru guy hehe)
"Walt Disney World" to Jimmy Eats World's "The Middle"
"Space Mountain (mountain of space) to U2's "Beautiful Day"
Subject: Re: New Parodies Coming Up
I have a HUGE list of parodies that I've been trying to start/work on...currently, I'm doing "Osbourne Family", a parody of "We Are Family", along with:
"Smell Your Feet", a parody of Faith Hill's "There You'll Be", and a sequel to "Your Feet".
"Junior's Back" to Eminem's "Without Me" (the 4th parody of this song -- and another autobiographical-type one!)
and "Watchin' The Mole" to the Beatles' "Fixing A Hole".
ETA: Also, I am in the middle of working on a parody called "Misheard Lyrics (amIright)" to Vanessa Carlton's "A Thousand Miles"...okay, is that my fourth--no, fifth amIright parody? :) I really DO spend too much time at amIright.com and inthe00s.com .
I also have about 15 more of suggestions, or ones I've just barely began.
I'm also working on an opening sequence medley for the amIright Awards Transcript, which will debut later this summer, once all votes have been calculated and all ties have been broken.
Subject: Re: New Parodies Coming Up
You should see these soon..
-"Parody Blues" (Mercury Blues by Alan Jackson)
-"Hopelessly Devoted to Food" (Hopelessly Devoted to You by Olivia Newton-John)
-"Download an mp3" (Don't Stand So Close to Me by the Police)
And I'm working on..
-"Hurry" (Blurry by Puddle of Mudd)
-"Parody Man" (Piano Man by Billy Joel)
-"Shopping Grammar (Target)" (Country Grammar {Hot S**t} by Nelly)
...And a few more. The more ideas I get, the more they keep stacking up!!
Subject: Re: New Parodies Coming Up
Most of the songs you guys mentioned sound hilarious!! I can't wait!! :D
Subject: Re: New Parodies Coming Up
I have a couple coming.
I have already submitted:
"Kids Just Wanna Watch Toons" ("Girls Just Wanna Have Fun" by Cyndi Lauper)
About Fox Kids' boneheaded decision to drop their weekday afternoon programming block and the local station's decision to replace it with talk shows. My nephew was a big Digimon fan.
In the pipeline but not yet submitted:
"Chef" ("Shaft" by Isaac Hayes, the voice of Chef on South Park)
Isn't it about time someone wrote a song about the character Isaac Hayes voices on South Park using a song actually recorded by him?
Modified to add the following:
"Kids Just Wanna Watch Toons" and "Chef" are now online! Check 'em out!
Subject: Re: New Parodies Coming Up
I've got a load waiting to go on from last week and about 5 I put in yesterday (including two Moby parodies for "We are all made of stars", now titled "From an advert for cars" and "we are all in the bar") :D. as well as more parodies about UK rail system and Manchester railway station which is based on The Who's "My generation" and more about the labour party.
Subject: Re: New Parodies Coming Up
.. I have more..
"Sunkist" (This Kiss by Faith Hill)
"Clean My Drain" (King of Pain by the Police)
"Diet Coke" (Desert Rose by Sting)
When these will actually get FINISHED, I do not know.
Subject: Re: New Parodies Coming Up
everyone should be happy to know that by Friday I will zero out the amount of entries awaiting review (which means I will spend as much time as it takes Friday to review the backlog).. I hate posting so many parodies at once, but so long as there's more than 20 or 30 in my queue, it's too much work to get through in a reasonable amount of time, which means I keep putting it off until I know I have a big block of time.. thus the cycle gets out of hand..
Subject: Re: New Parodies Coming Up
This is my 1st week here and there should be a lot of parodies by me showing up on friday. It's probably a good thing that the 2 computers that i originally wrote most of my parodies on both don't work at the moment (i have most of those songs printed out) or else i might have gotten carried away and submitted 40 songs in a week. Anyway, i'm pretty sure i've submitted 9 so far (6 as tone-def and 3 as ethan mawyer) including 2 that i wrote this week and I should have another one done soon. I think from now on, i might to keep my submissions a little lower per week so i do not drive chucky insane

I used to have a policy of no more than two submissions a day.. but that was when I was still cutting and pasting them out of email (gotta check my email come to think of it, I think there's still a couple in there).. I could probably handle more than that, but I think two or three a day (if I'm doing regular updates) will increase the chances people might read them.. if they see a flood of 50 in one day from the same author, I doubt most people will read all of them

Dude am constantly thinking of parodies to do while am at work. I close 5 days a week there. The radio is on constantly, especially on the rock station. Since we're open til like 3am on thurs., fri., and sat., what else is there to do but think of song parodies? This city is so dead at midnight.

actually, "Fat" is a parody of Michael Jackson's "Bad", and "Yoda" is a parody of The Kinks (correct me if I'm wrong) "Lola". It kinda bothers me when people make parodies of parodies.

yes, i know. The only reason i didn't acknowledge them is because there's no tune to a written parody on this site, and since i used the words to Al's songs, i credited him

What if we just voted on the best song each time an update was made?or would that be too hard?
Subject: Re: New Parodies Coming Up
I noticed that someone posted a parody of Cledus T. Judd's "My Cellmate Thinks I'm Sexy." That song is a parody of Kenny Chesney's "She Thinks My Tractor's Sexy" (one of the all-time worst country song titles!).
Subject: Re: New Parodies Coming Up
I've posted a few parodies lately...my faves being "Last Token (Aeris vs Tifa)" and "Aeris' Rhapsody". "Last Token" is a parody of a song called "Love Token". It can be found on Brian May's "Back To The Light" CD. And you know what "Aeris' Rhapsody" is a parody of....you don't? Okay, it's a parody of "Bohemian Rhapsody" by a certain band called Queen.
"Last Token (Aeris vs Tifa)" has numerous references to video arcades and a certain game called "Final Fantasy VII"...I love the dialogue in the middle because Aeris and Tifa were competing for Cloud's love (I threw in Yuffie because I can imagine Cloud getting tired of Aeris and Tifa's bickering over who will get the man, and Cloud would choose Yuffie), Aeris can come across as a "frostbitch", and Tifa can come across as a "skankwhore" due to the clothes she wears (tight white tanktop and a short black miniskirt) and her ridiculous bust size. You think Lara Croft's bust size was ridiculous? You ain't seen nothin' yet....I don't recall Lara's bust growing bigger and bigger as the game progressed.
"Aeris' Rhapsody" can be best described as a twisted memorial to the Aeris character who was murdered in the game by ubervillain Sephiroth. The operatic part of the parody is the "comedic" part with more references to Tifa's bust ("Oh busty Tifa, busty Tifa, busty Tifa make them let it go" is a parody of the "Mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let me go" line from "Bohemian Rhapsody").
Other parodies I have written include "Biff" (a parody of Pink Floyd's "If"...it's the tragic tale of a swan getting hit by a train), "Icicle Face" (parody of Queen's "Bicycle Race" inspired by 102-degree weather a few weeks ago), "Another Turd In The Bowl (Part II)" (I'm surprised nobody came up with this one before me), and "The Wizard Of Oz" (a parody of the theme some to the cult-classic "Wizard Of Odds" gameshow which featured Alex Trebek with a "planet-sized afro"). I have also posted some Queen parodies on behalf of Kay Dathe (I spelled it Kai Dathe) and Kris "Tigerbabe" Bell. I should send some email to Tigerbabe, telling her that her "Too Much Net Will Kill You" is a hit on amiright.com.
Subject: Re: New Parodies Coming Up
I did a parody on The Fabulous Thunderbirds' "Tuff Enuff" called "Dandruff (Head & Shoulders Above)". It's my first in a while and, I'll admit, not one of my better ones. :-/ But it is the first parody in many a month. If I ever regain my yen, I will try to do more parodies more often. :)
Subject: Re: New Parodies Coming Up
Cool, JC. I'm looking forward to them!
Subject: Re: New Parodies Coming Up
...being at 49 parodies now, I'm trying to make the 50th a bit special: it's a tribute to Peter Cook and Dudley More (sadly both now deceased) called "Derek and Clive" to the tune of American Pie... it's taken me a while, as American Pie is so darned long!
Power to the parodistas!

i'm in the middle of 2 songs now and i also have a bunch of ideas... not going to say anything about them just in case i end up never finishing them. I would like a little assurance that songs on this site are safe from stealing before i go posting all my best songs though.

I've given up a couple of times on "Bat out of Hell", too - you come up with a cool parody idea, say "Cat Out The Well" (or "Let Out A Smell" ;-))... but you end up saying the same things over and over, or sometimes just repeating yourself...

Yeah!
I've got to the start of the second verse (Battering ram) but my lyrics are pretty much complete, as you say, any more will drag on and involve unnessary repetition.
I'll slog on for a while then post it as a fragment if I can't tie it all up.
It's a pity 'cos there's a few phrases I particularly like.

Wow, this topic is still up?
Well, the next grouping of parodies I have dished out are.............................
"Braless" parody of Korn's "Thoughtless"
"Stripper" parody of Ozzy Osbourne's "Dreamer
and
"AmIRight" parody of "She Loves Me Not" by Papa Roach.
Hope you enjoy them.
PS- once Junior gets his part done, you will see our fabolous trio doing a parody of "Fight For Your Right (To Party)" you will just have to wait.

If you like sports parodies, and other types as well, check out my most recent posts : "Father of Crime" to "Father of Mine", by Everclear, "Goodbye General"(tribute to Bobby Knight), to "Candle In the Wind", by Elton John, and "Because You Thugged Me", to "Because You Loved Me" by Celine Dion. I like them, hope you do too!

Hey, S.T.G., and everyone else,
Earlier this week I submitted my first parody. It's a parody of the old Beatles classic "Strawberry Fields Forever"(or just "Strawberry Fields." Why does that song have two titles? it gets confusing.). Hopefully, you might like it. Either way, my next one should be a parody of "Scarlet" by Lush.
;D

I've submitted an attempt at a parody; a takeoff of the B52s Love Shack, called Wife's Back.
Much-deserved credit to Taoist for helping me with the tricky bits, hope y'all like it!
Subject: Re: New Parodies Coming Up
I just finished and submitted "Watching 'The Mole'", to the Beatles "Fixing A Hole".
I'm stuck right now in "Osbourne Family" (We Are Family) and "Those Are All Fads" (U Got It Bad).
In the process of working on an Untitled AmIRight Song (A Thousand Miles).
I have plenty more ideas on http://www.geocities.com/homietheclown8489/music.html my site.
E-mail me if you wanna use any of the ideas, I'll let you use them as long as I'm not working on the parody.
Subject: Re: New Parodies Coming Up
i myself am working on a Metallica parody...to Ain't My Bitch-E.T. Bitch. it's about ID4/Independce Day. i got the idea from watching ID4 and then listening to this song not long after. to me, the movie and song should go together. hehe
