Subject: I think I got the parody voting back in shape
http://www.amiright.com/parody/votingresults.shtml
William Tong is kinda blowing everyone away on a weekly and monthly basis.. I'm sure that'll annoy a few people...
Subject: Re: I think I got the parody voting back in shape
I'm still waiting for one of my parodies to enter the Top 50...I haven't submitted one in a few months (not including "amIright", but that was Lebeiw's idea & he really deserves the credit for it. I just did the rap and fixed a small part at the end.)
I swear I didn't vote for "You Are The Weakest Link" 55 times in two hours...I can't believe I still remember that... ::) :P
ETA: Thanks for fixing that up! ChuckyG rocks! ;D
Subject: Re: I think I got the parody voting back in shape
I think if any of my parodies ever enter the top 50, it would have to be for pacing, as that's what my strongest vote usually is for every song, but I'd still have to get about 9,000 votes for that to happen, anyway.
Thanks, Junior, but you did a great job on the "amiright" parody, too. I couldn't have done that rap!! ;D
You just did that Faith Hill parody last month, didn't you?
Note to Chuck: Why are some of the voting things dark green and light green instead of red and tan?

I don't know what you're talking about.. you'll need to give me a couple examples

I think that if any of MY material enters the TOP 50 - I've bribed people to vote for stuff.
:P
P.S. I submitted a parody of Eminem's Without Me - then find that S.T.G's beaten me to it!
humbug.... :( (lol)

He does get quite a few votes, whether you like his stuff or not...
Am I right in thinking that even if you vote all ones, it's going to increase the chances of something turning up in the top 50?

sorta... it would probably need ten times as many votes as something currently in the top 50, like if the Rush Limbaugh fan club discovered the site, and each member went around voting all 1's on all of William Tong's parodies..
it's a kinda strange voting system, that rewards not just position but amount of votes.. the philosphy being that something that scored 3.2 with 1000 votes is better than something that scored perfect 5's with only 10 votes.. if the only way people saw parodies, was by how many votes they received, it would be unfair because so many of them would end up locking out newer parodies.
I'm sure that the better a parody scores in the search engines helps too.. if you're looking for William Tong on google, this site turns up before his does, because this site gets more traffic.. so if he has a keyword to something popular, the popularity of this site, coupled with that keyword, increases the likelihood of someone visiting the site and voting..
plus ya gotta hand it to the guy, he cranks out at least two parodies a day.. which greatly increases the likelihood one of his parodies will click with people..

Ya know how the voting things on Whatfreaks are light blue and dark blue? Once in awhile I'll see a parody on amiright with a voting box that's green and light green. I don't think there are bars. It's rare, but if I find a parody with that, I'll link ya

I think that was the original color, and I changed it at some point. No one has probably voted on the ones' you've seen in a long time (like 6 months or a year)..

Another question, I know you stated earlier that you rarely read parodies, but do you read em if they are about amIright or you?

Agreed - and some of them are extremely good (though how they manage to score on the "funny" scale, I don't know - beautifully crafted, but not even remotely funny). It does seem to me that the majority of his votes (both good and bad) are based on whether the voter agrees with his politics, and has sod all to do with how good (or bad) the song actually is...
Just a thought, how close are you to clearing the backlog? I've still got a couple that I can't remember whether I submitted them or not and don't want to end up with them there twice.

the backlog, should be no more than a week behind.. I think there's like 50 or 60 in the queue, which is an average week's worth.. I'll have it down to zero by the end of the week I'm sure..
if yours doesn't appear, resubmit it, and I can always remove it later
