Subject: Often Mixed Songs - Can You Remind Me, Please?

Written By: Hairspray on 05/23/02 at 11:14 p.m.

This one phrase comes on repetively in this one:

"To the rhythm, to the rythm." - Grace Jones' "I'm Not Perfect" ? ? ?

Another one, which does this one phrase:

"Extra-extra! Read all about it." - ? ? ?

They're ca. 1986.

Thanks In Advance.   ;)

I'm not sure whether this is the one you're talking about, but Grace Jones' song "Slave To The Rhythm" contains the lyric
"Work to the rhythm
Live to the rhythm,
Love to the rhythm,
Slave to the rhythm,
Work to the rhythm,
Live to the rhythm"

Perhaps, it's a mix version of hers. One line also went: "Grace Jones to the rythym."  :D  Thanks Bobo!!!

1 down. 1 to go.   ;)

For the first one I immediately thought of Bobo's reply.  There may be a mix out there of "I'm Not Perfect" that samples the "to the rhythm" line (I actually have a Hot Tracks version I haven't fully reviewed yet - I'll try to check it tonight).

The second one sounds like Midnight Star's "Headlines" from the album of the same name.  It was the first single released from that album, followed by "Midas Touch."  ;) 8)

You could feasibly mix the two together - "Headlines" is around 103-104 bpm and "I'm Not Perfect" is around 108-109 bpm...

Yes! I knew you'd land on this thread!  ;)

You're probably right about Midnight Star's "Headlines". I will download it to make sure it's the one I'm thinking. I do like their hit "Midas Touch" - "I've got the Midas touch. Everything I touch turns to gold..."  ;)

I agree. I'd slow down "I'm Not Perfect" in intervals.  ;D

I'm the exact opposite...I'd pitch up "Headlines" to about 107-108.  I tend to speed up songs vs. slowing them down (I think to maximize the number of songs I can fit on a recording or set)...I do either to aggravate pesty (pesky?) patrons though... ;D
