Well? What is everyone doing this month?
I am still taking care of the house while my parents are away on their two-week vacation trip. They will be home late next Tuesday night.

I started radiotherapy yesterday. Fifteen days treatment in total.
On Monday it is a public holiday here so I am not in work. I am going to an event at a local restored windmill. We are Morris dancing, there will be a band and a folk choir. Plus some side stalls and activities and a tea tent

Hopefully in 15 days, all of this will be in the rearview mirror and you will be cancer free.

Anyway, this morning I got an email from my parents; they were in Santorini today and had a nice time there.
They will be home on Tuesday night (probably close to midnight).

My feeble attempt at a Cinco De Mayo theme. We served Mexican-flavored meatballs, chips & guacamole, cheese cubes, homemade chili-flavored snack mix, veggie tray w/dip, pineapple, mini cupcakes, homemade cinnamon cookies, and m&ms. Plus along with the soft drinks we served Jarritos bottles.

Morris dancing (and a bit of maypole dancing) today. Our musician forgot about the event, so one of the dancers drove home to pick up her violin. Good job we weren’t too far from home.

Right now they are on their second plane, somewhere over the North American continent. (They flew from Athens to Montreal and had to wait for their connecting flight.) My mom texted me earlier to give me an update.

Parents got home last night at 11; they were very tired from having been up all day. They had a great time on their trip.
This morning they showed me some pictures they took (in Italy and Greece). They wished that I could have been there, but I had to go to work. Today I’m taking the day off so that I can be with them while they relax.

Santorini (where they did a lot of walking), the port of Kusadasi, an excursion to Ephesus, the port of Mykonos, and the port of Piraeus, which is near Athens (where they did some sightseeing and visited the Acropolis). They spent one night in Athens, then departed the next morning.

I know where Piraeus is-been there. I also been to the Acropolis. (Bought a nice painting of it.) Never did make it to Mykonos & Santorini. Been to a few other islands-Rhodes, Zakyntos, Paros, Aegina, Hydra, and a few others. Fell in love with Zakyntos & Hydra.

I woke up this morning thinking I had a meeting. Nope. It is next Monday. Ok.
I heard that our local Chinese place will be closing so I was planning on getting some before they closed. Since my friend is going to take me grocery shopping today, I thought I would pick some up. (The Chinese place is in the same plaza as the grocery store.) Nope. They are closed on Mondays.
Tomorrow another friend is going to take me to get my first CSA pick up of the year (yay!) because the first friend can't do it. Maybe she will take me to the Chinese place. If worst comes to worst, I could walk. It just might be hard carrying back all the food I am planning on getting. ;D ;D

Yesterday there was a concert band playing in the local park. They played several medleys - things like Glenn Miller, The Beatles, an Eighties mix, some Disney and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. It was nice sitting in the sunshine listening to the music.

Good for you. I tried to give blood once but my chronic needle-itis got in the way and I started hyperventilating and crying. It wasn't pretty. I did try.

You shouldn't take aspirin after giving blood. Aspirin is a blood thinner. Sugar is good-that is why they give you orange juice and cookies.

Thanks for the concern. No problems with the donation (in fact I've done this quarterly since retiring). I didn't need to take anything, just avoided heavy lifting, skipped my workout and went to bed a little early. Plus I treated myself to a smoothie! :)

Good for your parents. My Mom did so on occasion, too, when she was alive. I committed to donate quarterly at least for a few years once I retired (I think they want me to donate more often but quarterly is what I signed up for). All blood types are needed for donation but I'm type O so they really want my blood. It's gone well; they are pros at the donation center I go to. I plan to continue for the foreseeable future.

You beat me. I have never worked at anyplace for that long. I was short of 8 years in the USAF before I was retired-which is the longest I worked for one employer.

That reminds me, only the past 37 months have been full time for me. (I was part time for the first 63.)
Right now, though, I’m not sure if I’ll be going in tomorrow, because I’ve been feeling a bit sick today. (Mild congestion.) I’ll see how I feel in the morning, and if I feel I can’t function well tomorrow, then I’ll call the office and request a sick day. My boss is very understanding and a good person.

Two more days of radiotherapy to go! I am fed up with the drive to the hospital and the queue for the car park.
Today I was able to combine it with taking my dad to a nearby eye clinic to have his cataract operation.

The food is prepared, the porch is set up, the only thing missing now are the guests. In all the years we have had this party, at this time I start panicking that no one is going to show up. One of my stepdaughters texted asking about bringing her dog so I know she is coming. She better be. She is bringing the (homemade) rolls/bread for the huge meat & cheese platter that I created this morning.
It looks like Mother Nature is cooperating. The sun is shining, no clouds, low 70s degrees, not much wind, and low humidity. Couldn't ask for a better day. Just hope it stays this way all day.
Now if only my back would stop hurting.

Yesterday Dai took a day off work so we went to the nearby city. A museum had the Renoir painting The Umbrellas on loan from the National Gallery. We also saw some of the other exhibits in the museum (dinosaur fossils in one area and a display on the Leicester Story about industries, people and communities that make up the city).
Afterwards we went for lunch in an Indian restaurant, looked at some street art (there had been a festival over the weekend) and popped into a couple of shops. It started to rain really heavily so we came home. We did make plans for some more sightseeing another time.

We left home Thursday evening and stayed overnight in Indiana. Friday we proceeded to Ohio to see our people; graduation was early Saturday morning. Later Saturday we left to go stay in Pennsylvania overnight; Sunday afternoon we went to a wedding in New Jersey with other family. Stayed over Sunday night at a nearby hotel, and following a Monday powwow with the family, we proceeded into interior southern NJ to stay with one BIL, for 3 nights. Thursday we migrated to northern NJ to stay with other BIL for 2 nights. (Had no internet while staying with relatives.) Left on Saturday and drove to Western PA overnight, and home late Sunday. We had a great time with everybody but I've been exhausted!
