I had a hospital appointment on Tuesday to plan my radiotherapy treatment. I will be starting this in May. The process involved having a CT scan to check the area that will be having the treatment and having three tiny tattoos to ensure my body is always in exactly the right position in the machine.

Well, I won't be going to Nova Scotia. Actually, I'm going with a friend of mine who I haven't seen in 40 years. We went to middle school together in Connecticut. Then I moved away and we started to exchange letters. We then saw each other in San Antonio when I was stationed down there and she was in basic training. After I moved to Vermont and she moved to Massachusetts, we talked on the phone a lot. Then we were just exchanging Christmas cards. Then she wrote me and told me that her husband passed away. So our phone calls started again. And of course last year I had to tell her about Carlos.

We have talked about taking a trip together but we are a bit cautious. After not seeing each other for 40 years, will we be compatible on a trip? So, this excursion will be a trial run to tell us if stand each other for a few days.

We pared back a smidge.  Served homemade deviled eggs, homemade ham salad spread w/crackers, veggies w/dip, homemade lemon squares, homemade chocolate chunk cookies, mixed nuts, and m&ms.  Plus an assortment of beverages.

Had two lots of not good news recently.

Last week Dai’s cousin died. She had been diagnosed with breast cancer about six weeks ago, but it was pretty advanced by the time she was diagnosed. She was apparently too weak for any treatment to be tried.

Then this morning I had an email from a friend (we lost touch a little recently and I message him the other day). Anyway his wife has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer (rare and difficult to treat type). In addition his son suffered a brain aneurysm and is in a coma in hospital in Vienna. Doctors are hopeful he will recover, but there maybe some lasting impairment

Had a great day-even if we hit some traffic on the way home. The best part was not viewing the eclipse but reconnecting with my friend who we haven't see each other for 40 years. This morning when I had breakfast with her at the b&b, I brought the old yearbook from when we were in 7th grade. We were reminiscing about all the bullies who tormented us and how we have gotten "revenge" on them by having a great life. She said that she would see some of them recently and they don't look good. Her term, "hagged out."

Dai and I went up to Scarborough on Friday. Dai was busy at work so we didn’t leave until the middle of the afternoon. We had dinner at the hotel and then went for a little walk to see the sea. We didn’t get onto the beach and the path is very steep down, and we didn’t fancy the climb back up.

On Saturday we drove up to near Whitby for the British Orienteering Championships. Elizabeth was part of the organisation team and asked us to help run the start. Everything went smoothly. I didn’t have a bad run (for me).

Today has just been laundry, and clearing the car out.

Back to work tomorrow.

So, Friday I signed my will. I am so glad that I went with this lawyer. Carlos & I should have gone to him last year instead of that useless guy. The only thing I have to take care of is a joint account. I still have his name on it because things keep coming in his name. I don't know if there is anything left to come in. After a while, I will take his name off of the account and file the paperwork that states if something were to happen to me, the kids will get what is in that account. It is not my primary account but there is a little something in it for them.

Now, I have to declutter my house-which I started doing I don't know how many years ago and I am not even close to be done. I am in a dilemma right now. I don't want to the kids having to deal with this crap stuff if something were to happen to me but I am not ready to part with it yet. I am hoping I have at least 20 more years to deal with it.

Today was the funeral of Dai’s cousin Joyce. We drove down yesterday and stayed in a nice hotel.

Derek didn’t want to arrange a wake afterwards, and I’m not sure how many would have gone anyway. Instead we went for lunch with him and his son and family.

Yesterday (Friday) I was out of the house for pretty much all day. First I went to work, and then to Dodger Stadium to see a baseball game. Even though my team ended up losing, I still enjoyed being at the stadium (because it's something I don't get to do regularly). And then we had to drive all the way back home. So I was out of the house for 16 1/2 hours altogether. When I got home I was ready for sleeping. So I feel a little droopy today.

I actually saw the Dodgers play way back in the dark ages against the Mets at Shea Stadium (which is no more  :\'( ). It was the only pro game I ever saw. What was cool about that day was they had a pre-game with the cast from Happy Days/Laverne & Shirley playing against the Mets' wives. I have some very blurry pics from that day. You can't tell who were in the pics.  :-[

Oh, and I remember the Dodgers won.

Very tired.

Last night we were in the sitting room on a Messenger chat with the children. Jean was in the lounge watching tv. She got up to go to the bathroom. The hallway/corridor light was off. I think she must have shut the lounge door, and then tried to turn find the light switch. Anyway somehow she lost her balance and ended up flat in her back. We ended up calling an ambulance and duly went off to hospital for a CT scan on her neck as she was complaining of pain in one particular area.

I went with her, we got into the hospital about 10.30 pm and got home about 3.30 this afternoon. Jean is fine - nothing broken. Various random health issues are being addressed, so useful in some ways. However I only had very short, very light dozes, not much food and only one cup of tea hence my current status.

I just found out that my nephew got married. I don't feel bad about not knowing about it because there only ones who knew and were there were my nephew, his bride, the person who married them, my sister & her husband. The only reason why my sister & her husband were there is because they live there (my nephew & his bride live upstairs). Not even members of her family were there, either.
