Earlier this week I had a meeting with my oncologist. We discussed my previous allergic reactions (quite common apparently - would’ve liked more warning about that). He then proposed carry on with the same treatment, but I said I couldn’t face another reaction. It has just been playing on my mind the whole time. Anyway he agreed to give me an alternative mixture (same drug but better accepted by the body).

Anyway today I went to the hospital for my first dose. It went well, just a bit of a bruised hand from attempts to put a cannula in. I was home in time for dinner including my favourite dessert of lemon meringue pie.

This woman who barely knows me suggested that I contact a guy she knows for maybe a relationship. WHAT!!??  :o :o She knows that I am grieving. It hasn't even been 6 months yet. There is no way I am even close to even thinking about starting a new relationship.

I know she was trying to help but still.  I just couldn't believe it. I told her that it hasn't even been 6 months and she even said that I shouldn't make any decisions for at least a year. And in the next breath she said that I should look him up.

I’m gonna get the covid jab on Monday afternoon.

I’m happy to report this went well, and I didn’t even have to wait too long.

So far, I have not felt any side effects yet. But if I do, I’m going to take a sick day tomorrow (that is, call my boss and let her know).

I was feeling good this morning, so I could go to work.  :)

No major side effects to report. I have been in work and probably overdid it a bit initially. I ended up going home Wednesday afternoon absolutely wiped out and was advised to take the next couple of days off. After a decent rest and sleep I recovered pretty well and probably could have gone back to work.

Dai and I went for a nice walk yesterday around Bradgate Park (Lady Jane Grey lived there in the 1500s). It was a bright sunny day so there were lots of families out enjoying the nice weather.

Friday I trained my coworker to do some of my daily duties, so that when I'm away next week (I'm going away for the Thanksgiving holiday again) she'll be able to handle my tasks and I won't have so much stuff to catch up on when I return the following Monday.

Today will be a strange day, for the majority of it, my broadband is going to be shutdown for essential modernization work. So today will be a good day to get other things done.

Finally back online. I headed to Hyde Park today to view the Royal Gun Salute, but the time I got there it was pelting down and was unpleasant to attend. I came straight back home.

Taking it a bit steadier at work this week. A colleague’s son has been off school with Covid so she was away for a couple of days. When she came in yesterday to start her hours I went home and worked on some computer based stuff. I will do the same today as a precaution.

It’s been a bit weird trying to strike a balance between carrying on as normal and checking every little feeling/itch/soreness as possible side effects or infections that need to be assessed.

Such excitement in our house this evening. I am watching Grand Designs and knitting a Christmas present (if I get it finished in time!) and Dai and Jean are asleep.  ::)

Been sleepy all morning. Even though it is overcast, windy, and the temps are in the °30s, I decided to go for a walk. I only went around the  block that goes behind my house. As I was walked back up, I could see my cupola towering above some of the houses. And I can see my HUGE house in between the houses on that block. Sometimes I marvel how I got so lucky to have one of the most beautiful houses in town-not the most but definitely in the top 10.

Anyways, I went to work today (for my only work day this week) and made sure I got everything done that I needed to do; tied up all the loose ends so to speak. Now I'm on vacation from work for the rest of the week! (I have the holiday on Thursday, but I'm taking vacation days on the other days.)

Celebrating my mom's birthday today. I helped my dad make some breakfast for her this morning; later on we're gonna take her out for a late lunch/early dinner.

Thanks. Our reservation is in an hour, so we’re going to leave the house to go to the restaurant soon.

Had a telephone call with my consultant this afternoon. He just wanted to check up how I was feeling and whether I’d had any problems with the different drug I had. I have been very lucky - no real side effects so far except my hair is starting to fall out. I try not to fiddle at it, but my scalp is quite itchy. I might cut it all off over the weekend. Next dose of chemo on Thursday.

So, for the third year in a row, we’re spending the Thanksgiving holiday with this distant cousin who owns a BnB in Paso Robles, CA. We got up there today, this afternoon, and now we’re looking forward to having a great holiday meal tomorrow.

I hope everyone celebrating yesterday had a good time.

I had my second dose of chemo yesterday. All went well and I feel fine today. I am off work for today just to have a bit of recovery time.

I took my mother in law to have her hearing aids fitted (at last). I think it will take her a while to get used to having them. We spent some time in the office having the preset volume sorted. Despite being asked repeatedly if she was happy with how everything sounded she commented as we were leaving that everyone was talking very loudly (we weren’t). She was also amazed when we got home that she could be in one room and hear people in another room talking. I hope we all have enough patience to get through the transition period

I avoid malls at 4,5 am in the morning, I'd rather sleep than be in a mall that early in the morning, I also rather just stay at home to do online shopping and avoid the people.

Yesterday Dai and Elizabeth’s boyfriend Paul hired a van and took some furniture to Paul’s new apartment. He starts a new job on Monday and has moved to be nearer his new place of work.

Today Dai and I went orienteering. We both did shorter courses than normal (and I came last on the one I did). Still it was nice to be out in the sunny weather.

My wifi was out all morning. I didn't know it was my provider or modem. Not internet, no phone. I tried to watch t.v but for some reason, the Dish wasn't working. I don't know why. I dug out the old flip phone that I had been meaning to discontinue but haven't. It is a good thing I didn't. I called my sister to see if she could Google to see if my provider was out. I love how they want you to go to their website if you are having problems. How can I go to the website if I don't hav internet? My sister got me a number to call (after having a hard time finding the # on the website). As I was talking to her, I checked and the wifi was back o . YAY!!! I didn't have to go through an automated menu for about an hour beforeI could talk to a real human who does not speak English.

I don't think I will do away with the old flip phone. I think I will hold on to it for times like this. Yeah it is an extra expense but it is not too much.

Oh I know that feeling!

My computer went all funny and 'not responding', my tablet went iffy too. Also, this morning my bus journeys all played up, traffic parking where they should not, etc. I reckon it is all down to the Full Moon tonight!

Now I am going to make a start on writing out the Christmas cards.

It was back to work for me today. I had plenty of stuff to catch up on, and I still have more of it to do tomorrow.

Also, everyone in my office said they had a good Thanksgiving holiday. I told them about mine too.

I have decided that I am going to revisit the theatre project that I did last year. I have found more material (including some info from Barbra Striasand's new book). I am also going to fix the booboos.

My sister thinks I should turn it into a book. She thinks it is good enough and says most of the hard work is already done. I don't think I want to go that route because there would still be too much work involved that I am really not willing to do and I will have to ask a lot newspapers for permission. I think it is better to just keep it to a few chosen people.
