Subject: Would you get a hotel room without TV?
Written By: Dude111 on 08/16/23 at 7:42 pm
There are hotels that dont offer TV in their rooms. And this could be a beginning of a new trend.
Some owners think that their guests much rather would enjoy the breath-taking views from their bedroom. Others think that rooms without TV promote deep rest.
Many hotels now offer complimentary in-room Wi-Fi (in public spaces) so there is ample opportunity to watch content in the comfort of your room without a TV.
However, observations from hoteliers on guest behaviour suggests content consumption isnt as commonplace as you might expect.

I used to like watching TV in a hotel room when it was a CRT SET.. Now I could care less as I do not like these flatscreen things........

Yes, have done it several times, even around ten years back. Namely pay to view.

I think I can do without a TV, at least I got my smartphone to keep me busy.

I suppose it depends on what you are in a hotel room for. If you are going to be spending quite a bit of time in one, like on a honeymoon, and want luxurious surroundings, then a TV is a nice amenity to have. But if you are on a regular vacation, who is spending time in the room? It's for sleeping and taking a shower. Get out and see the city! Nobody is sitting around watching TV.

Whenever we stayed in a motel, we would have the t.v. on to news. Sometimes it was just background noise.

Would it had been a different scenario if there had been a television set at the Bates Motel?

Yes because I don't have a television anyway because I don't like television.

It depends. If we've been driving all day and haven't reached our destination, we often turn on the TV to catch sports. But after a short drive, unless we arrive in the evening the TV doesn't have much allure.

There's really not much on TV anyways.
