I last went for a nice walk with my bike a couple days ago....
I didnt used to like walking but nowadays I find walking much nicer than riding my bike! (I get more excercise walking)

Walked with my husband for about an hour and a half from our house, down to the canal, along the towpath for a bit. Then through some fields (past the sewerage works) and back to the house.

First I went to say good-bye to my camper van. :\'( Tomorrow she will have a new owner-my step-daughter. Then I went to check on my tomatoes (actually they are Carlos who started them inside and then SIL planted them outside). There are a few but they are all green and they were laying on the ground. Yesterday we were outdoors from 7.15 am until about 3.30 pm at an orienteering event. Dai had planned all the courses and I helped him out the markers out and then we helped out with the event (including pushing a van out of the mud)

Took out the garbage/recyclables and took the bins to the curb. And then I filled the bird feeder and brought in a box I had on the porch. It was out by the curb with a "Free" sign on it but not everything went. I will put them back out next spring. I am debating whether to bring the other boxes in or just leave them out there (books/magazines). I'm not afraid of anyone stealing them because I am trying to give them away anyway.
It looks like a beautiful day, the sun is shining but man, it is bitter out. The wind is biting.

Walked to the grocery store for some last minute shopping. It is just a bit over a 1/2 mile so to/from is over a mile.
On the way home, I passed a woman who said that I beat her about getting to the store. I made a remark about how both of us are walking and said that I don't drive. She said that she doesn't either.

A couple of months ago they opened up a weed and pot place (smoke shop), that's all I need to smell, freaking weed in my nice neighborhood! ::)

This is the night when I take them to the curb, since they are usually picked up on Tuesdays (unless a holiday occurs on Monday of that week, which is not the case this week).
Mondays are always garbage and recyclables and Thursdays are just plain trash.

Went to look at all the plants that are coming back to life in the yard-the day lilies, the irises, and it looks like the parsley that I cut last fall is coming back.
Not sure how the asparagus are going to do. We planted them in 2020. We were able to get a few in 2022 but last year was supposed to be the first full year of the harvest. I was not here when they were in season because... well, you know. I will have to see how they do this year.

A friend of mine came over with her son and son's friend to pick up some grills that I won't use-including some tanks. I found another tank in the garage the other day when I was getting some garden tools for my next door neighbor (who mowed my lawn and said that he would do some other yard work for me).
I showed her around the garage that needs organizing and I need help with. She said that she might recruit the kids and come over some weekend. She spotted another grill & a bag of charcoal so we got a few things out of the garage. I also found the fishing poles. My stepdaughter told me yesterday that my grandson wants one of Carlos' fishing poles. I didn't know where they were. Now I do.
In exchange for the grills, she gave me my dinner (if it defrost in time). :)

The town next door to mine had their town-wide so I walked around going to yard sale after yard sale. Then we went to lunch at a local cafe and ate outside.
And yes, I bought a lot of stuff of I don't need-Corningware & Corelle. But they were great prices. It was funny with the Corelle. I found a set of 4 big plates & 4 small plates and one or two unmatching bowls. When I asked how much, he said $2. Cool. Couldn't resist. Then, we passed a place that had a bunch of stuff that said free. We stopped and looked through the boxes. It was the exact same pattern of Corelle that I had just bought for $2. So I added to my collection. I think once again there were 4 big plates and 4 small plates plus one unmatched bowl (which I think matched the other unmatch bowl that I got at the other place.) I think I now have settings for 8 of that pattern now-all for $2. (Almost as good as the setting for 15 that I got for $5-but that one also included a few platters, and a bunch of matching bowls and serving bowls.)

On a similar note, there was a "neighborhood cleanup" event happening in my area today. We had some stuff to discard that could no longer be used, so we took it over there and dropped it off in one of the trailer bins that was parked out there.

I didn't notice any. I did see DVDs & CDs. Another town over will be having their town-wide in a few weeks. My town has an unofficial one last week when we have Spring Fling. I never have a yard sale then because I have a barbecue. I usually have my yard sale during Applefest in September.

Out in back watching my neighbor cut a tree that belongs to another neighbor that was hanging over my fence.
I talked to a tree guy the other day and the guy seemed to have an attitude. There was that tree and one that is hanging over the garage. He told me that it would cost $500 just to set up his truck and then I would have to pay hourly wages for 2 workers. When I made a comment like, "Ouch", he was trying to justify it. I told him that I wasn't arguing with him. Then he went on to say how he hates cutting down dead trees. Yeah, the guy just rubbed me wrong and I decided that I wasn't going to hire him. But, my wonderful neighbor stepped up and it is not going to cost me $500+.
My neighbor couldn't get the branch over the garage but he did get the one that was hanging over the fence-which was driving me crazy. He is now weeding in front and will weed in back tomorrow. I'm just trying to figure out how much I should pay him for all of this work.

On the way to the farm to pick up my CSA, we stopped at a general store and ordered subs. Went to the farm and back to the store to pick up the subs and sat outside having creemees. (Yeah, eating dessert first.) It was across the street from my old apartment and I told my friend of what happened there 30 years ago today. (See the 30 Years Ago thread). Then to the grocery store.

That seems rather interesting.
Every summer they have concerts on the Green. Since the Green is a block away, it is easy to walk to. Last night they had free ice cream-which they usually do about twice a summer. It was supposed to be last week but it was so hot, the concert was moved to one of the churches and the ice cream would have melted. I didn't go last week because it was some country band and I don't do country.
Next week (4th of July), they are going to have an Army jazz band.
It really is a great program. Free musc, sometimes free ice cream, there are door prizes that you can win and they have a 50/50 raffle. The raffle is how they pay for it all along with the concession stand where they sell hot dogs & popcorn. (I made the mistake of getting a hot dog there and had heartburn for the rest of the evening. I won't make that mistake again.) The whole thing screams small town- but people come from other towns. One thing I have to say about this small town, we really do have a very nice Green. I don't know for sure but I do believe it is in the top 10 for the state.

5K Parkrun in Kettering
Quite an interesting park actually. It was set up by a Charles Wicksteed in the 1920’s. His company made playground equipment and the park has both original wooden play things and modern steel constructions (climbing frames, see-saws and swings, etc). There is a water chute that is the oldest in Britain , it was installed in 1926.

On a similar note, there are lots of birds flying around near my office; one of us in the office will often scatter sunflower seeds around on the balcony outside the office door and the birds will come and eat them up.

Not only do they love peanuts but they are also strong. I put a few rocks in the container that I put the peanuts in so the wind won't take it after the peanuts are gone. When I went to fill it up, the rocks were on the outside of the container and the container was upright. So I put a small brick in it-along with the rocks. Once again, they were all on the out of the container and the container was upright. I am surprised that the birds can lift them.

Filled the bird feeder. I also checked on my cherry tomatoes. I have baby ones. YAY!!!! Don't know how soon before I can pick them.
I also went out to the back fence looking for a stick (for a certain purpose). The dogs on the other side of the fence sensed me and just started barking up a storm. They couldn't see me through the fence but knew I was there. I did talk to them for a bit but that only got them barking even louder. I went back into the house and I think they finally calmed down.

It sounds like you live in an area that offers a lot of fun free outdoor activities.
I live in a small town-population is about 2500. It is probably about 17 square miles. And in the center of town (which is a block from my house) sit probably one of the biggest and nicest greens in the state. And just a few weeks ago they finally got lights going on so someone like me (visually impared) won't worry about falling in the fountain in the center of the Green because I don't see it when leaving one of the concerts after dark. There are several groups in town and each one try to have different activities to try to bring people into town. The group today is the one that runs the food shelf.
The concerts are big draws. People from other towns come for them. The car show is another big draw. There is also a farmers' market every week but it is kind of small-maybe half a dozen vendors. Spring Fling & Applefest are also big draws because there are usually a lot of vendors on the Green. And of course Spring Fling we have the parade. This is the town for trick-or-treating. Parents from other towns bring their kids to town. Where I used to live (a block away) I would run out of 10 bags of Hershey bite size bars. Here, I may go through 5 bags. That is because kids don't want to cross the street because there is a lot of traffic and a lot of trucks.
When I first moved to this town, there was a fair that came to town-complete with rides. They don't do that anymore.
I have said that there are a lot about this town that I absolutely hate. There are also a lot about this town that I absolutely love. I have to say there are more things that I love than what I hate.

Good to know. Certain parts of the city where I live get their trash emptied on specific days of the week; and if there’s a weekday holiday, then that pushes the pickup to the next day. Also, we used to get the recycle bin and green bin (for yard waste) emptied on alternating weeks, but that changed at the start of 2022 (i.o.w., all three barrels - the main trash, the recycling, and the green bin - now get emptied every week).

Went out to check on the cherry tomatoes. None today but it looks like I will have a few tomorrow. Yeah, I'm only getting a couple a day if that much. There are a lot of the plant but they haven't turned yet. We are supposed to have a stretch of sunny, warm weather for the next week so hopefully, they a bunch will start to turn.

Went to Applefest in the park. It is a gorgous day for it. This is usually the weekend that I have my yard sale so I don't usually go to Applefest.
What was going to be maybe a half hour turned out to be a couple of hours. I kept stopping at tables and visiting with the people I know. I stayed at the Historical Society's table longer than I had planned.
But I did come home with a banana nut bread that I bought on my way out of the park.

Literally the last thing I did outside was came inside after pegging the washing on the line. I always feel that this thread would be more interesting if it didn’t feature the humdrum “walked in from the car”, “put the bin out”, etc. Maybe it’s just me?
Yesterday I was outside for a few hours walking around the National Memorial Arboretum with Dai. We enjoyed the autumn colours on the trees

Went out on the porch and watched my neighbor put up my new solar motion-sensor light. (The old one died.) It looks like the light works for him, too. When his car hit the driveway, the light came on. Our driveways are right next to each other that it looks like one big driveway. We have used each other's driveway when need be.

Went out on the porch to get a special delivery. The "soup lady" made a delivery complete with homemade cat toys. I have never met the soup lady but she delivers homemade soup to my porch.

I'm not too sure. It looks like it could be potato soup. I'll find out this evening when I have it for dinner. There was some bread that was included.

Took out the garbage/recycling and then walked across the street and around the corner to a meeting of the Historical Society then returned home.

I just came in myself cat.....
There was an ambulance outside at the neighbours house across the way.... The wife tried to commit suicide -- They took her away in an ambulance and the police went to talk to the guy...
