Lots of interesting stuff and memories.
I still use a 10 ft dish with c and ku band lnb’s. I used analog till around 2006 then 4dtv until it ended in 2016. Now I just use fta which doesn’t have the mainstream premium channels but I love all the oddball stuff you just don’t get anywhere else. And it’s always a treasure hunt what you might find out there.

Oh!!
"As of the 24th of March the museum will be temporarily closed. Our government is taking measures for Covid-19 and museums are ordered to close for now. We´ll see you soon when we open again in a new and bigger location."

I had my analog BIG console t.v. that I bought in 1988 until about 2 years ago when I finally retired it. I sold it on Craigslist.

I still use my 27” crt tv. It has a perfect picture and fits in my entertainment center. I got it for free on the side of the road in 2012 I think. Only thing wrong was the coax input was snapped off. Big deal. I only use the rca inputs anyway.

I miss my old CRT TV. I didn't even know that's what they were called until I saw this thread. They just made things look better. A "softer" look, if you will. Sometimes high definition flat screen TV is just TOO much. Almost headache inducing. Even with all the fiddling around with the settings to reduce the "soap opera effect".

Just took this, the content proves it’s current but I never set my clock. Still using the analog box and dish that came with the house I bought in 1999. I moved it all to my new house in 2016 and replanted the dish. Analog box is my dish mover. I thought I read awhile back that c span was the last remaining thing on analog. At least in the USA beams. Yep it’s still there. Kinda ironic because I thought it was the government who wanted analog shut down. If anything else is still there it might be a few home shopping channels and religious channels. Now I’m curious. I’ll have to surf this weekend. It had been so long since I watched analog that I found my servo was 90 degrees out. Which didn’t matter for fta.

I remember as a teen in stores like sears, I always thought the TVs with a convex screen looked sharper. Flat ones were always a bit blurry.
I don’t like HD either. When I watch something I want to be isolated from it. For it to be an actual piece of film I am looking at. With HD it feels like it’s going on in my living room and I don’t like it. Especially for old shows and movies.

Exactly. That's why the older stars and shows on CRT TVs looked "larger than life" and had a magical feel. HD looks too real but still somehow achieves the opposite effect of looking flat and fake.

Actual cable systems, I never had cable except in college. I didn’t have a cable ready tv so they gave me a cable box to use. I had an old sears tv with manual fine tuning. Well on the cable system they had a scrambled porn channel. So what’s a curious but broke college kid to do before the days of internet? Mess with the channels and fine tuning on both the cable box and tv to straighten the picture. Run the sound thru my old 10 band eq to fix the sound. Just to know I could do it. My roommate from Finland wasn’t so patient. He walked a couple miles downtown and rented a vcr lol.
Great, now I’ve got one of the songs from that channel stuck in my head and can’t find the lyrics.
