15 hr work day followed by 5 days off in a row  :o

I was planning on doing some serious cleaning out of my apartment but the friend who puts me up for paley fest asked me to come dog sit for her for 2 or 3 days which means I can't get as far as I hoped I would....

but... she really does help me out year after year so how can I say no?

Took down Christmas and put the living room back together. I still have other rooms to put back together but there is no hurry on it. I plan to do a room a day. And started to wash the sheets-AGAIN.

The cats are happy that the house is quiet again. I don't think Josette went downstairs at all this weekend. She probably went down at night when it was quiet otherwise she would have been VERY hungry.

cool.

We've put some of our decorations away already, particularly the outdoor lights yesterday. Once we get the tree taken down (which will probably be later this wk) then we can put our living room back together again. No hurry for us at the moment yet. I just know that it is always kinda sad every year to do this.

My hubby is now in Hong Kong, awaiting for his next plane to depart to Thailand.  I am exhausted.  It's a lot of hard work to psychic-ly keep a plane up in the air for 19 hours.  lol I was following his progress online at the airline's website.  This house is soooo quiet without him, and I have very little energy left to do any of the packing I should be doing.

He is tired, he did not sleep at all on the plane apparently. And I did not sleep well here at home. (not that I really sleep well ever anyway, but really don't when hubby is gone.) My cat is being aloof, only really comes around when I have something to eat.  >:(  But I guess I trained her inadvertently that way.

Well I've started the new year off with a gross sinus issue. Nose is runny but not very stuffed but yesterday was a headache, literally. I was drowsy all day. Now my throat is still groggy. I'm taking both sinus/allergy medicine and cold medicine just in case it comes to that. I had my flu shot a few weeks back and it had different types in one so its supposed to work wonders. It better cause I can't afford to get that sick. Even if this turned out to be a simple cold rather than allergies it would be horrible. I don't get sick often but when I do it seems to last a century. *Knocks on wood*

So now I'm TRYING to download some games but MAN is it slow. I has nothing to do with the Fire-it has to do with our wifi. I want to have a few games on there so I don't have to be on-line to play them.

Thanks for updating us, Patty! Always nice to hear from you. :)

Good to hear from you.

How many movies watched on the plane flight?

He is in Thailand, and I am still in United States.  I am trying to finish up moving out of this apartment. We are kinda waiting until another payday to be able to bring me and the cat over.  I don't know if he actually watched any movies on the plane really.  He didn't say.  Probably not, he's been working his tail off up until his flight, trying to move us.

*Knocks on wood*

hope you feel better. :)

It's been reported that he watched a movie starring Emma Roberts called"The Intern." And also a Chinese tourist film about the  Chinese living in Thailand or at least vacationing there. It apparently has spurred the tourist industry in Chiang Mai (where my hubby is staying currently.)

Also some other movies that he couldn't remember.

Happy new year everyone.

I've been away since the end of December.

We went to Snowdonia for a few days for the new year, as we always do.  Wet and windy weather put paid to some of the walks people planned to do, but we had fun anyway.  Dai took all the teens to an indoor climbing centre one day and I wandered around a slate mining museum and sat in a café.  We also played party games one night, sang some carols and a group of us formed a recorder group and played some songs.

Then there was a race on the first of January.  I organised the registration team and Elizabeth and Dai ran the race.

After that it was home for a quick turnaround.  We flew to Geneva on the 2nd for a week's ski holiday in the French alps (right on the Swiss border).  We had a nice apartment and could get straight onto the slopes which is always good.  I skied a fair bit, with James some of the time when Elizabeth and Dai did the more adventurous routes.  It snowed several day we were there, but it turned to rain on the Friday.

we also spent time in the swimming pool and sauna and Dai treated Elizabeth and I to a massage in the on-site spa!

Now we have to pack everything away ad get straight because it's back to work and school for everyone tomorrow.

So, we cleaned out the car today because we are expecting a call from the dealership any day now about our new car. It is amazing how much CRAP we accumulated in that car over the past 8 years. To be fair, we did use the car when we were moving and didn't exactly get everything out of the trunk. Hopefully, the new one won't get like that.

But, we didn't find ONE McDonald's fry-but I did find an old potato chip.  ;D ;D ;D
(For those of you who do not know, there is a rumor that every car has at least ONE McDonald's fry somewhere in it.)

I try not to. It is just a cleaning but I have EXTREMELY sensitive teeth so it is like torture. I have been known to put claw marks in the chair's arms. They do put a topical on that numbs me for about 5-10 minutes. Can't tell you how much that stuff helps.

Part time; only four hours a day, two days a week.

I even talked about it in the "Help me find a job" thread last month, after I interviewed for it and got approved to take a drugtest and a background check.

With regards to my part time employment that starts next week...

Part time; only four hours a day, two days a week.

I even talked about it in the "Help me find a job" thread last month, after I interviewed for it and got approved to take a drugtest and a background check.
http://www.inthe00s.com/index.php?topic=52568.msg3320321#msg3320321

Yep, nothing has changed with regard to that. Even as I applied, back in November, the description said it would be part time, and at the interview I was told of the hours and that I wouldn't have to come in every day.

I have even been reading my accounting books to make sure that my skills don't get rusty or anything. That way I'll be prepared when it starts.

A little while ago, Mom and I had another bad day.  One of the things she said to me was I analize too much and don't do anything.  That night I recalled a time she was mad at me and threatened to call me a babysitter.  She ended up coming to me the next morning saying we had a bad day and was talking about bad days so I told he about her past babysitter threat towards me and why don't you call someone to help me live with.  She thought it was a good idea.  Hopefully something will eventually happen.

I lost my keys.  I swear they were in my purse when I left my apartment, now they aren't. This wouldn't be a matter of concern except, my husband is in Thailand, and the cat won't let me in.  ::)

It's Sunday, I *could*  get the office to let me in, but that costs an extra $70 afterhours.  So, I am staying at Denny's restaurant tonight. lol  Hopefully somebody will be in the office tomorrow,  but if not, I can stay with friends.  Just not really what I wanted to do when I'm trying to get my crap out of my apartment by the end of the month.  ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) ::) >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( >:( <at myself

Stay safe Patty

Retrace your steps and see if you dropped them somewhere.  Ask in local businesses in case someone handed them in to a reception desk.

It is so easy to misremember doing something like picking up keys when you do it every time you leave the house.  Perhaps you will get home and find them sitting on a table near the door.

I liked their song 'Wrecking Hotel Rooms' before this script. I also  reallyliked Responsibility, the song sounds familiar for some reason. I didn't like 500 miles song though.

I didn't get a chance to listen to Chick Magnet. I have another script that force closes Spotify after 10PM so I sleep earlier... as you can probably tell, my entire life is run by computer scripts.  :\'( a true digital native.

Responsibility sounds just like Motivation by Sum 41. I think the Sums got their idea from MxPx (everybody listened to them back in the day). I think that's why it sounds familiar to you.  :P

500 Miles is a weird cover of a song that's not very good in the first place so I see why you don't like it.

I just found this video and posted it on another thread here. I think you'll like it. It's a compilation of Drive-Thru bands in 2002. Every song and band here is really good. Let me know what you think:

Chick Magnet is the very first MxPx song I've ever heard. Man, it's got a great bass line. I can play the bass and that song + Longview are the first two songs I ever learnt.

Haha, pretty sweet, dude! I couldn't code if my life depended on it. I am lucky I'm able to turn on a computer!

STILL no keys, luckily I did have James' car key at the bottom of my purse so I was able to get somewhere in the car.  The apartment office wasn't open today and MAYBE not tomorrow because of celebrating Martin Luther King jr. birthday.  I am going to have to suck it up and call later today (heck with the extra charge.) I HAVE to get to my cat.  I was going to stay in my van in my driveway (we have a pretty consistent security patrol, so I felt safe) but it got too cold (I had a sleeping bag which kept most of me toasty (except for my feet.))  SO, I broke down and asked a friend of ours if I could sleep on their couch.  And here I am.  I HATE asking for help so so so so so much.
It *would* have to be one of the coldest nights of the season, (when I screw up, I do it royally.) I was ok until it hit 25 degrees F (minus -3.888889ºC) by the time I got to our friends, it was 13 degrees F (minus 10.55556ºC).  I did leave the furnace on when I left so I am sure the cat wil be ok, just wondering where I am.  She had food when I left, but probably not now.

I started with Jimmy Eat World's first album, Static Prevails, their song "In The Same Room" is nothing short of amazing.

It's Monday so I got a new Discover Weekly playlist from Spotify, so that's 30 new songs there too. :o

I am positive you won't be disappointed with my recommendations!

Isn't it? Static Prevails is so underrated, man. One of my some of my favorite songs are Episode IV and Thinking, That's All.

What stuff has Spotify been recommending you, lately? Lots of of 90's/early 00's?

I'm 99% sure that they are laying on the floor in front of my favorite chair.  I HAD to have the keys when I came home to let myself in, and I really hadn't gone anywhere Saturday (until late and then I realized as soon as I went to unlock my van door, no keys. - but no way to get back into the house.)  I AM trying to get my shhhh together to get out of here on time.  :-X

Wow that's awful. I hope you get in there. Did you try calling the police? They might be able to open the door for you, although they might break the knob.

The police would tell her to call her property manager or a lock smith.

Which she knew to do but she was trying to save money.

Success!  The property manager lent me a set of keys.  And I found my keys on the floor, right where I suspected they'd be.  My cat was fine, I had left a light on when I left, had the furnace set to kick on when it gets cold, had filled her food dish before I left.  She was just a little lonely. lol  So I cuddled her up and fell asleep for 8 hours.  ;D  I've gotta return the extra set of keys later today when they open.  They've been really awesome working with me and not giving me grief.

Unfortunately, the moving elves did not pay me a visit while I was locked out.  Everything is right where I left it.  >:( >:( ;D

My hubby is doing well in Thailand, except he dropped his phone and it isn't working.  But he still has his laptop.  Although his phone held ALL of his language apps. *sigh*  Still have one more day before payday, so can't really go and buy a new phone yet.  Also, he need size 12 socks. Nobody in Thailand has Men's size 12 socks. Small feet, I guess. lol  ;D

P.S. It is super super cold here.  I am very nearly frozen (and still using the internet at the local gas station/mini-mart/fast food place.  It's pretty great.)

He's still new, so he's learning the ropes.  He says fleas from the Soi (stray/alley) cats and dogs keep jumping on him and biting him (hence why he wants to wear socks, at least for now.)  He says it's VERY hot and humid there.  The first place he stayed got good reviews, but his room had a ceiling leak, and when the hotel owner went on a trip (he asked James if he could do him a favor) and help out his Thai wife (who can't speak English) to help check in guests and check the website for new reservations while he was gone for a few days.

The wife was rather dependent on James, so much so that, when the police had been called due to a neighbor dispute (the guesthouse has it's own bar/restaurant) and the neighbor didn't like the noise, so neighbor called the police every night... The owner's wife handed James the phone to deal with the complaint!!!  What was he supposed to do, as he was a mere guest too.  Not getting paid for anything he did, and still had a ceiling leak the whole time he was there.  So, he found another guesthouse for slightly cheaper, and had to share a bathroom.  But they didn't make him responsible for anything, so less stress overall.  It's in a more "sketchy" part of town, alot louder and more traffic, so I think he's gonna look for more places to stay elsewhere.  :-\\

He *was* gonna go on a elephant tour, but unfortunately because of the room/hotel condition, he decided he'd rather just move all of his stuff to a different place to stay, so for his birthday, he did nothing fun.  I told him he really should do something for fun.  I guess he has time for that later.  Money is a little tight this first month, but after this we should be in a much better place.  I'm hoping once he gets settled in to his liking, he will take the time/money to do something to celebrate.  I guess we're not really all that big on celebrating anything in our family.  BUT having said that, this was a milestone birthday (50) and I guess being in Thailand (which he's wanted to do for 30 years) was celebration enough for him.  :) ;)

I've been getting a lot of my little costume stuff from Amazon. I still need to write one or two parodies.  For one of them I'm just not getting a performing idea. Not that I want to do much, just have a little something of some sort to show you so I'm not just standing there through the whole song.  Like if I wanted to record my juggling parody, I'd have my juggling balls with me.  One of my song ideas ( the wolf's red riding hood luring with a deep voice Elvis song) I just dont have a performing idea for.  Maybe I can just do the Red Riding song and then turn the camra to the wolf afterwards and say " This ain't workin out na this ain't workin out.  The 3rd song I was going to do which may end up being the second is going to be my Lil Pig Brotherhood parody.  I can catch myself when I say pork links and bang on the door for the drums.

I'm surprised there haven't been any power outages. Haven't been outside since this afternoon, if I decide to go out I will have to bundle up extra! Hope everyone is having a great weekend!

I'm sorry you have to deal with that bird poopsnow. I'm sure it will come back around and make its chilling presence to me  :D

The only time I was outside was when I shoveled. There's about 15 inches I think.

I have been out shoveling quite a few times. We've been experiencing blizzard conditions since last night. There was
about 16 inches when I woke up this morning, that was the hardest shovel. I have been out there about every two
since just to make it easier. What pisses me off is the plow guy; I dig my truck out, he plows me back in. This has
been an on going battle all day.

Howard, how much is the Island supposed to get? I was looking forward to watching The Flyers/Islanders game tonight
but it has been postponed.

Sounds like you got a lot more snow than we did! We haven't shoveled yet, still snowing and we're waiting for it to stop. I think Maintenance will do it for us though hopefully.

I am about two miles east of Camden, NJ just across the river from Philadelphia. A few miles meant a lot with this storm,
most of the snow that fell here, fell last night. It was snowing all day, it is still snowing now but it wasn't a heavy snowfall.
Most of the accumulation today was from the drifting snow. We got about another 3 inches today so I think we came out
okay. Further inland and the South Jersey shore has it much worse.

After working graveyards last night I drove to Solvang (about 30 mins from work and 45 from home).
I was meeting two friends from HS I reconnected with on fb a couple years ago. Well one was a HS friend and the other was a yr behind me so
I didn't know her to well (don't really remember her but we became friends because she's friends with the other friend. Anyway I saw the other friend 2 yrs ago. So they were spending the weekend in Solvang and Saturday night was my Friday so I decided to see them since I'm off tonight.

We had breakfast. Walked around Solvang. Had lunch and walked around Solvang some more.
Oh and they brought another alumni from my HS someone I was friends with senior yr of high school but haven't seen in almost 30 yrs.

It was a great and worth being awake 22hrs to experience it.

Off

I just got back from an 8 day cruise of the South Pacific (with my wife). It was our first cruise and we really enjoyed the whole experience. The ship stopped at Noumea (New Caledonia) ... A little place established by the French back in the early 1800's. Then we went snorkelling at Mystery Island (Vanuatu). The third stop was at Port Vila(Vanuatu).

Port Vila was a beautiful Tropical town where the people looked to live a simple lifestyle. There was huge competition for taxi drivers lining up to take the ships passengers to the town (some 3.5 miles from the dock). The water was that aqua colour you often see in the movies.

The entertainment onboard the ship (Royal Caribbean's, Legend of the Seas) was top notch. The food was fantastic (I gained a few pounds/kilos). I said before I went aboard that I'd walk it off around the ship ... I didn't walk once!  :-\\

Oh... And I found out that I still can't float. I have really bad buoyancy ... Basically, I sink immediately. As soon as I hit the water (even with snorkel, mask and large flippers), I was in trouble within 10 seconds and was gasping for air and going under for the second time. It was embarrassing ... But I shouted to the guys in the small boat to throw me one of the floating devices I saw in the back of the boat (before they drove away). They did ... and I got to enjoy the snorkelling around the coral. I was the only one of the group who needed a floatation device ... but at least I'm alive to tell the tale.

Anyway, it was a great vacation. Very relaxing...  :) ... except for the almost drowning part!  :-\\

After I get off today in the late afternoon, I have the next two days off.  The only things I'm going to do are the laundry and dishes.  I do want to give the dog a bath though.  Usually I would do this on the back porch but its way to cold for that.  She sheds so much it clogs the drain but the tub suffices.  The only reason I put it off is cause she has trouble getting in and out of the tub.  I think she's developing arthritis.  She will be 8 soon.  But I might get around to making that cake too.  I hope everyone has a good day.  Since I'm posting from a computer I can finally give some karmas.  For some reason I can't do that on my phone.  Maybe I have the wrong board view?

Congrats, man. I've never really dealt with too much mental health issues aside from my adult ADHD (which sometimes does include ruminations and obsessive thoughts) but it's good to hear this. These things are tough to deal with.

Today, I was wearing my ultra rad Coca Cola shirt that I bought around 1997-ish, right? And it's all faded and crap 'cause it's old and I wear it a lot so I stopped to talk to this dude I kinda know as I was walking to my car and he had the nerve to say to me "Nice distressed shirt, Jordan. You trying to be some sorta hipster or something?" and I said in my best Jay (from Clerks) voice "what the hell are you talking about? My shirt's da illezt, son!" You won't believe what he said to me next! He started to argue with me about how I'm this weird breed of hipster who's stuck in the 90's and still wears baggy pants and spikes his hair despite "your old age." Old age! The nerve of him! I swear, I get myself into the stupidest conversations...

Flip phones are actually pretty hipster. I'm not sure dressing late 90s is hipster though, hipsters seem to prefer dressing grunge.

It is?? I thought the iPhone was! Dammit! I guess I'll get an old 2000 Nokia, instead. That's not a Hipster thing, right? Does it hurt that I carry around my old Discman sometimes? I don't play that lame indie music. When he was talking to me I was listening to the glorious Does This Look Infected and I think that album is too heavy for Hipsters. He insisted that I was some weird rare breed of Hipster. An "alternative Hipster" and I was about to use my macho energy to lay one on 'em! I told him that he wouldn't understand my tastes because I have the tastes of a God and he is the peasant and went to my car. This isn't even the stupidest conversation I've gotten into this week, either!

My nail are not very long and I'm always getting skin growing on them.  I cut them down which makes it easier to type on the computer.  Now if I can only remember how to spell things again.  I'll have to write more here or write more parody's to remind myself how to spell things.

Just out of curiousity, I was looking to see how much renting a room in an appartment might cost.  Even if I were able to rent somewhere for a while, I'm on SSI and well have to tell them where I move to and they will change the amount of money they're giving me.

It was James's 14th birthday last Thursday.

We went out for a meal on Saturday evening after spending the day orienteering coaching.

On Sunday James went to the cinema with some friends to see Goosebumps.  I met them afterwards and we went for pizza.

(The difference between teenage girls and boys.  Elizabeth had been to the same place and recommended one pizza between two.  We ate one pizza each!)
