The first of February, they are calling for another winter storm but will that stop me.....no.

Tomorrow I will be outside, even though the high will be in the low 30's, smoking a pork loin, pork ribs,
pork chops and potatoes. My pork loin will be served with a homemade salsa cruda and the potatoes
with my special rub. Strange thing is, this has nothing to do with the Superbowl. It is a birthday dinner
for Tootles, The Boys girlfriend. They better appreciate it.

I meditated for the first time....ever in my life. It was the most peaceful thing I've ever experienced. You have to take it seriously though. I'm still a beginner so for me it's a simple task of relaxing myself and winding down my feelings, especially passionate ones! It's not like I'm seeing visions or anything like that.

I still haven't decided on whether to have it on the 15th (Sunday) or the 17th (Tuesday), although the 17th would make sense because that is Shrove ("Fat") Tuesday; however, last year my friends and I had the party on the Saturday before Fat Tuesday (and I don't wanna try that this year because that Saturday is Valentines Day). I hope to make a decision on this as soon as possible before any of invitees make plans for either day.

New sofas and a chair delivered today.  The old ones had gone really weird with the leather surface peeling off in strips on one and crumbling/flaking on the other.

And I decided to do it on the 17th. I even sent out an Evite invitation to five of my invitees (since these are the people that I have email addresses for). We shall see how it goes.

@nally and Philip,

I have three classes, Geology, History of Rock and Roll, and Philosophy 106.

There are no books for Philosophy but the Geology and Rock and Roll textbooks were weeks late. Geology was two weeks late and the Rock and Roll book was three weeks late.

Had the Rock and Roll textbook come on the first day of class I might have had an A or a B+ on the test, so I did pretty good for a textbook that was three weeks late. The test I got a B on was for Rock and Roll.

We skimmed over like two overhead slides of the 1800s and early 1900s. Once we got to the 1940s we got deeper into it.

Supposedly the song 'Rock Around The Clock' from 1955 along with the movie Blackboard Jungle, helped make Rock and Roll mainstream and popular. I'm sure it's more complex than that but sometimes I shut my eyes (not yet sleeping) in class.  ;D

Syndication, I think. They had been around for several years. Said programs, at the time, were airing weekday afternoons and were geared toward kids.

In the Christian religions (namely Catholic), it is right before Lent starts. Lent is a time when people give up things they love. So, right before it starts, everyone partys like there is no tomorrow-because tomorrow (Ash Wednesday) they are not supposed to party anymore. Marti Gras literally means "Fat Tuesday."

The big family occasion approaches, more family members arrive, and soon I will have to be offline till when it is all over.

If I sneak online I will, but I will be otherwise involved.

Take care in all you do, Phil. Hope it's a nice gathering. :)

Good. :)

Speaking of scheduled events... I finally heard from two more of my Mardi Gras invitees today. However, neither of them will be able to come over. (But I do feel good that I've at least heard from them.)

That is my lot for a few days now, more relatives have arrived and the festivities have now started.

Still no rsvp from two of my invitees to whom I sent the Evite. My guess is they are too busy and haven't had a chance to respond.

However, I am still looking forward to having a good time tonight. :)

Well...some of my invitees did show up. And we had a good time with said people. :)

And now I have just gotten finished cleaning everything up.

Thank you, the gathering was the wedding of my son and it all turn out splendid.  Several guests even flew from the UK especially for it, with many faces I have not seen and spoke for a while.

Got back late yesterday after a week in France.  It was a holiday week from school so we went skiing.

We went back to the same resort/hotel we'd been to a couple of years ago.  It works well for us as a family in that there are several east runs I can do around the hotel, but it is also straight onto the lifts to get up to the bigger runs Dai and the children like.

After a couple of days there I was persuaded higher up the mountain for the first time and I did a long blue run (harder than any I've skied recently).  I did this a couple more times (though I never skied the end part - too steep looking!)

Now a frantic day sorting kit and washing ready for the working week to start tomorrow

I'm on my art board's committee now and may get newspaper writeups. And 4 out of 5 of my submissions were juried in.

Screencap of art opening here with my pic featured:

My logo I came up with that will be signed, titled and numbered, then stuck on the backs of all prints, and put on all boxed items like coasters, mugs and Zazzle merch:

In other news things are basically the same with me as they always have been, with the exception of lots of fights and even a mugging or two outside. I'm also building a diorama layout that will be the downtown square of a large unnamed Southern city, my most ambitious thing will be making ruins of a Confederate munitions factory with an intact shot tower out of Lego as the centerpiece of "downtown". Weather here's been pretty nice, unusually warm for February, but I'm enjoying it

Thanks Jeff. Another thing that hit hard, had to get rid of my dogs (to a no-kill) because that many and that size in my small apartment were a code violation, and I am looking to add just a single pet, likely a Tibetan Terrier with the coat grown out to full length, to be certified as an emotional support animal.

And I am going out to a bar tonight to sing karaoke. First time doing it in an actual bar, it'll be fun

Anyway, I have an interview this morning at a library in Thousand Oaks (they have an accounting position open there, which I applied for a few weeks back), so I will need to prepare for that.

Good Luck.

Thanks. Btw, this position was actually for a library page, which has duties similar to what I've been doing as a volunteer at the Oxnard Library, only there's a little more involved. At the end of the interview, I handed the people a copy of my resume and told them that I am also open to any accounting positions they may have open. Overall, I feel very good about the interview; I must admit that I was NOT the least bit nervous this time.

Thanks; like I said, I feel I did well.

I should find out in a week or two whether I get selected or not. There are other candidates interviewing for this position.

Good luck, hope you get the job  :)

Thanks.

Btw, today I went to the Oxnard library to do some volunteer work (this one is nearest my house), and I happened to see two of the staff members whom I'm friends with; I told them about this interview and they were glad to hear about it; one of them even said she knows a person who works at the Thousand Oaks library (where I interviewed earlier this week) and that that person is really nice.

So anyway, I might find out next week or the week after if I get selected or not. In the meanwhile, I will continue to make other job applications.
