As many here know....my list is very long.

I'm curious. Have you met any?

Who would you most like to meet?

I've only ever met 2 celebrities, and they are both (former) NHL players:

Kirk Muller and Norm Maracle

I'm actually a distant relative of Maracle.  He is the son of my grandmother's 2nd cousin, or something like that.
I once played Road Hockey with Muller.  When he was starting out in the NHL, he lived on my street in the off season

If sports athletes count, I met Gordie Howe, Mario Lemieux, Rocket Richard, Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, Gary Carter, Willie Stargell, disgraced Canadian runner Ben Johnson and some others.

I met the "man in motion" Rick Hansen, Canadian Prime-Ministers Jean Chretien and John Turner.

And I was told the Shah of Iran walked right by us at either Expo 67 or 1970. But that doesn't count as a meeting.

"I pitty the fool?"?

I haven't met too many celebrities, despite living in Southern California. The other night though, I did get to talk to Vanessa Carlton after her show, she was very nice. :)
Interestingly, Dinah Jane, who was on X Factor last season, went to my school, so I guess she counts as well.

Funny story though, back when I lived in Houston when I was 11-12, I got confused for a celebrity. I walked into a CVS and some kid came up and started asking me if I was Dylan/Cole Sprouse from the then-popular programme, Suite Life of Zack and Cody. However, I didn't even notice him until my mum said something, I guess I was too focused on getting what I needed from CVS to even notice, haha. And besides, what would someone like Dylan or Cole be doing at a random CVS in suburban Texas? Who knows...

My mother and I swear that we saw Paul Gross, Constable Benton Fraser From Due South, in our local pharmacy looking at stuff on racks.  I'm wondering if he lives in town or somehwere near here? ;D

I've gotten close to a few, but never actually interacted with them.

Case in point...

April 9th 1995: then-President Bill Clinton, at a religious service at the then-cathedral in downtown Los Angeles
February 8th 1997: Weird Al, at a Dr. Demento show; he was sitting across the aisle from my family & me; I didn't realize until the intermission
August 12th 2018: Bob Eubanks at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza; he hosted a presentation in which he discussed how he got the Beatles to perform at the Hollywood Bowl in the 1960s
December 3rd 2023: Jennifer Holliday at a concert hall in Camarillo; yes, she performed music, but also asked someone in the audience to turn off the bright light on their phone because it was distractive

As for this question posed near the beginning of this thread:

Who would you most like to meet?

I have a long list of potentials.

You went to a Dr. Demento show? I am jealous. I was a proud member of the Demento Society or many years. I still have about a year's worth of his radio show on cassette.

Yes; this was at Caltech in Pasadena, California. Dr D showed plenty of novelty music; and as I mentioned in my previous post, Weird Al was in the audience. He may have come up on stage later on; I don’t quite remember. I just know that I had just started to get acquainted with his music at the time. (I later attended a Weird Al concert at the Orange County Fair in the summer of 1999.)

Couple of questions about your post if I may Jeff?

I’ve met Jonathan Edwards (UK triple jumper when he was visiting the university research lab I worked in. It was for a radio programme he was making on sports fabrics. Therefore I have also met two of the professors he talks to as I worked with them for several years.

I also briefly met Heinz Wolff as he was the external examiner for the university department and he asked me the way to the department office.

I heard Weird Al puts on one hell of a show. I haven't had the privilege.

Apologies for missing your reply to my post earlier.

The place where I saw then-President Clinton in 1995 was the Cathedral of St. Vibiana, located in downtown Los Angeles. It was closed down a year later after damage (from the 1994 earthquake) was discovered in parts of the building. A few years later, a new cathedral was constructed nearby; it opened to the public in 2002 as Cathedral of Our Lady of the Angels. The old cathedral building is still standing; repairs were made and it has since been repurposed.

No, not at the moment.

I could probably brainstorm and write down a few names, but it might take some time to narrow it down to just three of them.
