Just hoping next month we don't get any snow but I have a feeling we'll get pounded with some but not much.

I hope it turns out to be a good month for all our fellow board members. :)

For me, I hope to get a job interview, which is still pending for me since I applied for a job position locally in mid-January; the person said that any interviews would be conducted in mid-Feb. at the earliest.

You are getting the Siberian blast as well?

It was very chilly and frosty first thing - though the clear skies mean the sun is bright now.

Not much happening here today.  Elizabeth is doing a music competition in school this lunchtime.  No idea what the final prize is or anything!

Oh yeah. It's cold, but it's a dry cold - which means I hardly have to de-ice my car windows in the morning. :) (I hate when that happens - takes up too much time.)

I'm going to see if I can learn and eventually get myself to remember how to cook me some corned beef and cabbage potatoes.  All cloudy and no sun seen, but not raining right now.

I don't eat it so I never fix it.

Most people just put everything into a pot and boil (that's how my mother fixed it).

Some people put it in a crock pot and others bake it.

I am starting out the month burnt out.  I have been working so much that it is insane.  I am afraid I will get to Vegas and spend the two days in my bed staring at the ceiling and ignoring my phone.  Although, that would be a good vacation.

Wow!!  Your weekend is as exciting as mine...

Tomorrow I'll be driving the kids to and from school and doing some house cleaning.

Friday, driving the kids again as well as taking father-in-law somewhere.

Saturday, no school but grocery shopping and laundry.

Sunday...not sure yet.
:D :P ::)

Just being silly...have a wonderful time and "BREAK A LEG"!!!!

Transferring files from the desktop to the laptop. I'm so afraid that there will be a file that I want but I won't have it. I have been doing laundry-and still have a few more loads to do. SIL is flying back tomorrow but won't be back here until Friday. Saturday will be spent packing and Sunday we will be heading south. One of my sisters will be leaving Sunday-so we are going to have a "changing of the guard." Unfortunately, I won't see her because she will leave there about the time we leave here. Like I said, I will have the laptop with us so I won't have to go through Inthe00s withdrawals. We don't know how long we will stay. We figured a week or two.

BURP  sorry  I just threw it all in the slow cooker this time.  Mom says it will taste different if cooked with the stove.  I may try it that way .  I missed the cabbage juice, well cabbage isn't seasonal.

On the 7th I go to Sacramento to get my CI and hearing aid adjusted.

Got my hair cut today.  Shortest it's been in 30 years.  :-\\  I like it, just not used to it being short (mid-nape of my neck?)  Thankfully hubby likes it too.  I have no hope of it looking like this at any point after I wash it again. (It never looks as good as it does in the salon.)

Today, (for some strange reason), I'm feeling especially girly.  I bought lip gloss and nail polish and plan to try to find some sappy chick flick on t.v. later.  What has gotten into me?  It's like the groundhog saw his shadow or something... maybe one of my cats saw their shadow and it affected me...  :-\\ ;D

I'm sitting here, listening to U2 (Pride (In the name of love)) and was reading stuff on ooze, when my guitar-playing kitty (in my signature line) was doing the solo for U2... or at least he was making the motions of it.  It was highly amusing to me.  :D Perhaps the hair products they used on me this afternoon have seeped into my brain...

Long ass day yesterday.

We got there at 245pm and left at midnight 45. As soon as Yvette saw me she came over and gave me hug.....she really does remember me!
Ken Jeong and Joel McHale oh and Jim Rash who plays the dean and wrote the Decendants (Oscar nom) talked/hung out with us the most.  This fine brother, crew member, out of nowhere hugs and pecks me goodbye....I dint know bro but I don't mind...can i see you again tomorrow? Lol

Oh crap I forgot. We managed to sneak onto a Glee soundstage and take pics on the WMHS auditorium stage......and....I HUGGED LL COOL J!!!!

I only have some of my pics. The rest are on my friends camera so I'll get those when I see her next week.
I can't post most of my Community pics cuz the episode is supersecret. But after it airs I can.

I got back to SB at 0330hrs! After waking up at 0630 yesterday I'm exhausted.

I've gotta go see my friends film in an hour it's playing in the Santa Barbara film fest. It's a short and I want to see it but tha means I have to watch all the shorts being screened. Here's hoping I can stay awake.

I need to do some laundry today

Sounds great. Have a safe trip back home.

As for us-busy day. Two loads of laundry, washed my hair, and then later, I will pack. SIL is coming back today & hopefully, the work in the bathroom will be done. It is a pain in the ass to having to come up here to use the tub but I am grateful that we have an upstairs tub to use. It would really suck not being about to bathe for a few days.  8-P  SIL may get to initiate using the new fan (even though the contractor has been using it) and use the tub with the new grout.

Had a great time at the film festival. There were a bunch of short films made by locals. It was great seeing my friends film. I'm so glad it didn't suck!

The first film kind of did- suck that is- good intentions tgat were poorly acted. Actually, apparently they had to do all ADR on the film and I guess the actors weren't strong enough in the recording studio- My opinion anyway.

Tge second film was pretty good. Ab added surprise was seeing my film mentor in the film. She's the professor of porn and they had her pick up a vibrator, at a yard sale, and ask how much for the back massager- great inside joke!  Calm down Howard- there was no actual pron in the film but it was a lesbian love story (of sorts) there was one make out scene and semi nude pic of a woman from 40 yrs ago) all in all it was a good film.

Gotta go...more later

Got to go to the mall and find a dress for Megan.  She's going to the "Me and My Guy " dance at school next Friday night.  It's a father-daughter type of dance but not called that because not all children have fathers in their lives.  Megan is going with her grandfather (Todd's stepfather) because she says Todd will embarrass her...he has a tendency to do that to her.  :D

About 55 minutes. I set it for 45 minutes at first, but discovered it wasn't fully cooked by then.

What I initially meant to say: had I seen I had to cook it for 45 minutes I probably wouldn't have bought it in the first place. ;)

Get an oven thermometer and check the temperature.  Some ovens run hot, some run cold (especially as they get older).  So either adjust the thermometer or the cooking time

That often happens when I cook something in the oven. It'll need more time than given.

Get an oven thermometer and check the temperature.  Some ovens run hot, some run cold (especially as they get older).  So either adjust the thermometer or the cooking time

We often have to adjust both. Ours is an electric oven, almost 11 years young, and lately it hasn't always been holding the set temperature. Especially if we have to take something out of the oven and put it back in. Then we'll refresh the temperature and see that it has dropped a few degrees (or more).

Joel and I are home and mom and dad are at church.  Playing with my beads and think I finally know what I'd like to do, but need to buy the right kind of tools and such to do it with.  I found some live plants I can order from amazon that should grow well here, but am waiting.  With doctors appointments coming up and the new insurance I don't know how low my money is going to be.

At high altitudes you have to cook everything for a longer period.  An oven thermometer is essential!

Yes, I hate it.  I grew up with gas appliances and if I ever get the opportunity (money) to gut this kitchen, I'm going to put in a gas stove.

It is really weird being in a house that is not ours. We are trying to take care of things but we have no idea how things run. Yesterday, I was emptying the dishwasher and I had no idea where anything went. I did a load of laundry and had no idea where I was supposed to put the soap in. (It was a front loader and I never used one before.) But, I have to say that the strangest thing I have EVER done was that I watered the piano.  ???  Yup-you heard (read) me right-I watered the piano. There is a little tube that is coming out of the piano. There is a green light on it-but when it turns amber (which it did today), I had to put some stuff mixed with water and put it into the tube. It keeps the piano hydrated. Who knew that you were supposed to water a piano?

So far, we have been lucky that a certain leech has not come in. Hopefully, she will stay away.

Front loader, you say? It should have a separate soap compartment (probably a little drawer) divided in two or three smaller compartments. Soap goes in the left one(s), tenderizer (sp?) of some sort in the right. If there's no such drawer, you're supposed to put the soap in with the laundry (either tablets, or a bowl of some sort, if they're using liquid soap).

Another one of those things I hate...

Something I ordered over the internet was delivered today, but of course I wasn't home and apparently the parcel was too big to fit in my letter box.. So I found this little card from the Dutch postal services informing me about it. So far, so good.
One of the options they're offering me is to have my parcel delivered at a specific time or at a different address. But in order to have that arranged, I need to create an account with their site first. That's something they conveniently 'forgot' to mention on said card...

Okay, here's the message:

When I lived in Texas, I had just a little box down the street that was next to all the other little boxes for everyone in the neighborhood. If there was a package too big (which didn't take much), there would be a yellow notice that there was a package waiting for you at the Post Office-which was about 20 miles away!  >:( >:( >:(  I just love the Post Office in our little small town. Oh, just about everywhere. You know - you make witty remark or leave a comment somewhere and hope someone notices/responds, or at least hand you some karma. But.. nothing. Ah well, happens to all of us.

Second note to self: avoid any comments on US politics.

Sorry, I know how you feel.  Heck, lately I can't even get a return Karma.  If I have ignored you I am sorry.  I promise to do better. :)

Good start :)

somewhere sometime.  Want to do my best, but seems some how to get harder and me more frustrated.

I think my mom is getting me real upset again.  I don't know how to explain anything to her in a way she will understand ( if she tries to I'm not sure)
I don't like her inturrupting me when I'm not finished talking
I don't like playing school with my mom.  I don't know what makes her think I'm 2.

vent all that off before I end up all cranky.

I ordered a live plant that will probably come in a few days and want to go to Home Depot to get some soil, seeds, and maybe some other goodies to try and transform my dirt lot into a garden.

I think I finally figured out what I want to do with at least some of the beads that are all over my desk and think I know what I need to get to do it.

It's nowhere near easy, but I have to I find
Gotta force myself to make up my mind

Another great day in the land of TV.....

Got to visit the set of Franklin & Bash (great/funny lawyer show on TNT if ya haven't seen it check out season one and catch season 2 when it returns this summer)  they were filming the last ep of season 2.  We're hoping for a season 3 cuz we've been invited back if it happens....so start watching and talking about the show...as a favor to me... alright?  :D

It was fun....highlight of the day was sitting and talking to Malcolm McDowell and listening to him dish about hollywood....stories I vowed never to repeat but god I wish I could!  :-X

It was not the time to super geek out and get pics....we had to act cool, like we do this every day...well lately we have but ya know, we couldn't be fans we had to act like well behaved guests so the only pic I have is with Reed Diamond.  It's on my friend's camera so I have to get it later.  But, if there's a season 3 I'm totally gonna do the geeked out super fan thing....or if I can convince paley to honor the show at the season premiere I'm gonna do it there... now that we're old friends and stuff it'll be easy to do  ;)

I had a long spell of that.  What I did was send some anonymous valentines to people I had feelings for, or someone I knew who wasn't getting a valentine.  I also had a friend, who is still a friend, who every year sends out valentines to women he knew just to send them.  It always made me smile that I got at least one valentine even though it was from someone who wasn't a love, but then again friends are the best and longest relationships we have.

If I ever gave you that feeling, it wasn't on purpose. It's just that I don't always know how to respond.

And I think that goes for all of us at some point.

Sometimes a post needs a sympathetic response, but several people have already replied so I don't always post the same sentiments again.

I know I should fling the karma around a little more.

I sit on lots of oral boards (panel interviews).... remember to look everyone in the eye not just the one person asking you the question and take your time. It's okay to be nervous - we on the other side of the table know it's not easy to sit across from several people. Breathe and all will be okay.  ;)

So while I am a wee bit nervous about that, I am also excited that I'll be interviewed. Also, it'll be a panel interview, which means three people will be asking me questions. I already have an appointment on Monday to meet with my job coach to work on interviewing skills, and there's a chance that I might get to meet with someone else on Wednesday of next week (which remains to be seen).

I missed this, Jeff.  I echo what Snoz said.  Just be yourself.  I am often on the other side of the table and nerves don't play into the decision for us.  We look for people who seem comfortable with themselves.  Answer their questions in an honest manner and remember to smile.

Another thing that impresses me is when a prospective employee asks questions.  We had one that took notes during the interview and asked us some good questions as well.  It shows interest in the position.

I am not sure if your job coach told you this or not but the HR manager at my company is impressed when the candidate sends a follow up email thanking them for the opportunity to interview.  It also shows interest.

Good luck, Jeff.  You can do it.

I just sat on the oral boards for an agency north of us. There were two candidates going for the same position. They were friends and had prepared together so they had almost identical answers.  One was super nervous and the other was not....the one who was nervous actually took the time to think about the questions and her answers. The interview went a little longer but I liked her better because she didn't just fire off answers she thought we wanted to hear she took the time to explain herself.

good luck Jeff.

I sit on lots of oral boards (panel interviews).... remember to look everyone in the eye not just the one person asking you the question and take your time. It's okay to be nervous - we on the other side of the table know it's not easy to sit across from several people. Breathe and all will be okay.  ;)

Thanks; with that in mind I think I will have confidence. :)

I will remember to do that; in fact, I agree that it is best to be truthful.

Oh yes; in fact, one of the sample questions on the list I was given is "Do you have any questions for us?" One suggestion for that one is to ask what a typical day is like in the company, or how I will hear back (either phone call or email).

I am not sure if your job coach told you this or not but the HR manager at my company is impressed when the candidate sends a follow up email thanking them for the opportunity to interview.  It also shows interest.

That is a really good suggestion; I will consider doing that after I'm done.

That's how I usually end up feeling.  I like it when they take time to think when answering questions.  We test before the interview so I am usually the one in there before the HR guy arrives.  I try to make them feel more comfortable before he comes in, usually small talk works.  He is kind of intimidating if you don't know him.

One more thing I just thought of, Jeff.  Do not be negative about previous employers.  I don't know if you would, but I can't tell you how many people I have not hired because they complained about the way their previous employers handled things.  If they are that way about them chances are they will be the same about our company and not last.  Leaves a bad impression.

Dai and the kids went away this morning for a week skiing in the Pyrenees.  :\'(

My manager asked me to go into work this morning.  He was away at his daughter's wedding so the assistant was running the office.  Manager reckoned I only needed to do half an hour or so.  I ended up doing my normal shift it was so busy!  Mid-morning the regional manager called to speak to the assistant, so he knows I was in and won't be surprised how much overtime I claim to work this week (given my time sheet doesn't have a slot for Saturdays).

Trying not to comfort eat too much whilst I'm on my own.

I did something super lame today and enjoyed every minute
I stood outside at Citywalk (Universal Studios) with a couple hundred crazed and screaming degrassi fangirls. It's the second time I've been an adult fan at a degrassi event and I enjoyed it.
I'm tired- my ears and head hurt but still.....

Only one annoyance- asked a friend to go keep me company. She doesn't watch the show but she does this la stuff all the time so I figured she'd get it and appreciate it for what it was.
She complained the whole time. I told her several times to go home - I'd thought It was gonna be like the mall tour with a chance for a photo op when it was clear it wasn't I told her it was okay if she wanted to stay.

Early on we went to a movie and she talked thru the whole thing, complained about the event while we waited, then when they screened the ep we went to get food. She sat while I got food and when I came back she recapped one scene---- the scene I just saw while walking back. She kept recalling it even tho I told her I saw it (ie she told me three separate times about the scene while I was trying to watch the ep. Ugh so annoying.

She's been the point of contact for Juliet's play- Juliet and I are twitter "friends" so I'm gonna take up point of contact for me so I can cut the ties where possible. Being at the same events is inevitable so I won't sever the friendship entirely I just can't breathe in any more negative energy. Plus she's manic and it drives me nuts.

Considering you embraced my OCD about being 1st in line and didn't mind I know you couldve hung no prob and I know you wouldve reveled in the lunacy of the situation. On a lighter note I was glancing through a magazine earlier.  It is a woman's magazine but aimed at older women.  Most of the ads in the back pages are for stairlifts and wheelchairs etc. then I spot two adverts for vibrators!  :o  Very medical looking vibrators but still!!

Usually on a Wednesday I go to Morris Dancing and then either to the pub with them or to meet my two friends Mike in town.  There was no Morris dancing tonight (the school was closed for the holiday) and I didn't have a car so I invited my friends and their partners round this evening for drinks.

Walkers crisps are running a 'guess the flavour' competition at the moment so I bought a packet of each flavour for us to try.  If you guess the right flavour you get entered into a draw to win £50,000, so we entered a few different flavour names for each.  My favourite was flavour C

Just a school holiday.  In the Uk most schools have a short holiday mid-way through the term, so it's called half term.  Sometimes it ties in with an actual holiday such as Spring Bank holiday but usually it doesn't.  It's just there to annoy working parents I think!!

On a lighter note I was glancing through a magazine earlier.  It is a woman's magazine but aimed at older women.  Most of the ads in the back pages are for stairlifts and wheelchairs etc. then I spot two adverts for vibrators!  :o  Very medical looking vibrators but still!!

Sorry about your friend.  :(

good luck.

Thank you; I had my practice interview with my job coach and another person; that seemed to go pretty well. They gave me some helpful tips after it was over, and I am now feeling somewhat prepared for the real thing tomorrow!

Sorry about your friend Karen

I got invited (and went) to q couple of those adult "toy" parties.  They passed around all kinds of potions and powders and... um... equipment to the group of us.  Twas really quite embarrassing.  :-[  Then my friend had a second party (I guess it beats Tupperware parties).. you were supposed to bring along your significant other... Although I was unencombered at the time, I brought a guy that I dated on occasion.  As "favors" they passed out little erasers shaped as boobs and men's genitalia.  Charming.  ;D
My one complaint was that my friend had gay friends that the party demonstrator did not allow to be invited.  Quite discriminatory.  I didn't see what the  big deal was really.

So I had my job interview this morning...and it seemed to go quite well! At the end, I asked the people interviewing me when I'd be hearing back, and they said possibly by the end of next week, or soon thereafter, since they will be interviewing a few other candidates for the position.

got my garden on my mind today.  I'll see what comes up from my seeds now and if anything reseeds, but I'm going to have to get things that go dormant in the winter if I want to be sure things will be around for years.  Passion vines go dormant, honeysuckle goes dormant, butterflies and hummingbirds will eat that.  I can get these live from amazon if I cant find any at stores.

At one of the warehouses that I go to, there's this guy working there who I've become pretty good friends with. Last summer he wore tank tops when it was really hot out,  revealing that he has so much hair on his back that he makes Ron Jeremy look like the Dalai Lama.

Earlier this week I found out that he's getting transferred to a different warehouse and today is his last day here, so as a going away present I got him a bottle of Nair hair remover.  :D

Oh, he's just as big of a smartass as I am and we always give each other a hard time. (He was always really quick to call me a dumbass if I screwed something up.) When he went into work last summer wearing a tank top and I noticed his nasty back hair for the first time I immediately started making up nicknames for him, like Chewbacca, or Cousin It, or Sasquatch, or George "The Animal" Steele, and so on.  And when I found out he was leaving I knew right away I had to get him some Nair as a going away present, it was just too good not to do.

So I put it in a box and took in to work, and I went into the office with him and a couple other guys who work there and gave it to him. And when he opened the box and took the Nair out, he laughed really hard along with the rest of us.  ;D

You might want to send a "Thank you for the opportunity for an interview letter, adding a few key highlights of your interview."  It shows that you are really interested in this job.

That's a good habit to have though!  Most people who call me just assume I know who it it. I always say who I am when I'm calling (even with my dad since my sister and I sound alike on the phone)

One time, before caller I.D., I got a phone call that started out "Hey, how's it going?".  It sounded just like my sister in law, so I started talking, after about 5 minutes or so we both realized it was a wrong number.  ;D

My friend called last night and offered me a free portrait package (10x13, some 5x7s and other stuff) if I was interested.  Her sons had a fundraiser for their wrestling team and a few people who had already paid the $10 for the package are unable to go.  So, I guess my kids are going to have portraits done.  Free...unless they talk me into other crap...I will be strong, I will not be talked into any other stuff...well, not a lot of stuff.  ;D

Doing lots of laundry and unpacking suitcases etc today.

Trying to get the kids organised for school tomorrow.

Also doing some work on the kitchen curtains.  Really, nearly finished them!

It's a lovely day here, sunny and springlike.  Dai is talking of going out on the bikes this afternoon

Almost packed. A few last minute items (like the laptop) left which I will do after finishing up my cup of tea. A friend of Dad's is coming to stay with him for a few hours before the caregiver comes around noon. Dad wanted us to stay until then but we have a LONG drive & we are also hoping to stop to see my mother on the way, too. Hopefully, we will get home at a half way decent hour. So many mixed emotions today. I KNOW I'm not going to get through this day without crying.  :-\\

We are home-YAY and I have two cats all over me. I called Dad to tell him that we arrived home safely and he barks at me, "What didn't you tell me the ice maker wasn't making ice?" Not, "Glad you made it home" or "Thank you for everything."  ::)  I know, I know. I shouldn't take it personally. He is just a curmudgeon.

Now I have to figure out what is wrong with the laptop. It crashed yesterday and now it is not working correctly. OY VEY!!!!

Todd has been going to the nursing home every Tuesday, first it started out with him bringing just ice cream, now he's bringing the residents dinner on Tuesday nights.  We have yet to go because Hunter has karate at the same time but we will do it eventually.

Yesterday he found out that quite a few people don't have any family to visit and they need slippers, little blankets and stuffed animals  :) :\'(.

I'm trying to figure a way to get these things without having to buy them all ourselves...maybe something at the school or maybe Megan's softball team.  Not sure how I'd go about doing it.  Gotta think about it some more.

Last night I went to a little mardi gras party hosted by a friend of mine; it was really nice. It was a potluck gathering, so I brought along some homemade cookies, most of which got eaten up by all the people in attendance.

Contact the managers of target, Kmart and walmart see if they're willing to help.
Getting the kids involved is a great idea.... You coulddedicate a theme a game.  One game could be blanket day the next slipper day- then everyone who comes has to bring slippers and blankets.

Great ideas. I'm wondering if the school can do something like "Adopt a Grandma/Grandpa" or something like that. One time when we were visiting my FIL, there was a bunch of kids having a field trip. I think that is a GREAT item. I think it benefits both the elderly & the kids.

Went to the funeral today.  It was a most unusual, but beautiful service at the crem.

The family were not at all religious so there were no hymns.  The wife spoke first of Roger's life history, then the daughter Jenny read a poem, a song called The Joy of Life was played, then son Chris paid tribute to his father and joined with his sister in reading the poem Death Is Nothing At All.  The service ended with Roger's wife Ursula speaking of her life with him.  You'll Never Walk Alone played as the coffin was committed.

In theory it's a great idea but logistically it can be a nightmare.

I worked for two yrs with Magic Me Americorp. This program took at risk youth to convalescent hospitals once a week to engage in activities with the elderly.

When I say at risk - our kids ranged from the academically challenged, socially challenged, class clowns, gang members and etc. At one school they refused to identify theorist risk kids (at that scool we got, via drawing, a perfect mix of A students and act outs)- we never told the kids why they were chosen- the idea was to get them out of class so teachers could have two hours free from usual distractions.
An hour at the facility, 30 mins round trip and 30 mins to discuss the experience.

Anyway- the kids had real issues dealing with the elderly.  You know some were great- others were barely functioning or capable of communication. A lot of the kids were scared of their buddies.  we spent about two three weeks prior orientating them etc but it's one thing to talk about it in a classroom and another to experience it head on.

Some kids were overly sensitive and thought their buddy didn't like them because they didn't react like so&so's buddy. One girl got fondled- that was a fun day  >:(  some kids just felt bad the people were stuck there. Others had a good experience.

The point is- it's not just hey kids today we're gonna meet some old people and make them happy for a half hour.  You really need to prepare the kids for the reality- address all possible fears and them debrief with them after.

One of the best moments tho was this one school I worked with was a group primarily of poor students and socially awkward kids. There were also two gang members in the group. One alpha- mr I ain't doin' this stupid shyt and his lackey David. David idolized Tony and did everything he told him to so they always sat in the back of the room alone bs-ing and not helping.

One day Tony was sick & I went over to David and asked him if he could help me because Pablo didn't have a partner today and he was just sitting there. Pablo never talked- ever we'd been going there for several months. He was 93 in wheelchair and just sat and states into dead air. I knew it was a risk but figured David wouldn't really have to do much talking because the kid was super shy and quiet when Tony wasn't around.

That kid sat down and drew butterflies with Pablo. He took the man's hand and helped him drew. The kid smiled and encouraged him and then Pablo said "I did it" he smiled and laughed and I looked at the activities director who said the man never spoke to her before. I puuled David aside later and thanked him and told him how impressed I was and I told him Pablo never spoke to anyone before. You could just tell he was proud of that.

The next week that jack ass Tony was back and David was too cool to participate I caught him looking at Pablo sitting alone at the table and I'd like to  think- he wished Tony hadn't shown up again.

It was an amazing moment - it was just one day - but I always carry it with me.
Sadly- I'm pretty sure david is dead or in prison. Some of the kids turned out okay tho- They reach out to me on facebook.

I've been thinking about getting a film crew together and doing a doc about those kids I worked with and where they are now.... I still have some video footage and tons of pics from that time (94-96)

My cold has settled into my ears so now hubby really has to shout for me to hear, very frustrating.

In other news, have I mentioned that I have weird parents?  Neither of them know how to use a computer, but recently have learned how to text via cell phones.  I am usually getting a phone call from them asking me to get on the computer to look up gardening catalogs, how to get replacement parts for a 1973 Volkswagon Camper/van, I even applied for a job for my father because they only accepted applications online.  Over the years there have been some random requests (which is fine, at least I'm still useful to them.  ;D ;D )  Today topped all requests, Today I get a text from mom asking to look up exotic dance clubs near a casino she wants to go to.  For my dad to entertain himself while she gambles.  Very bizarre day I'm having to say the least.  ;D

I've never had that many, thank goodness. On a busy day, I get maybe 12-15 emails, but on average I'd say it's closer to 1 or 2.

Very bizarre day I'm having to say the least.  ;D

;D  Wow, I don't know how I would take that last request if it were from my parents.  It would be different to say the least.

When we were in DC last week, my dad was updating a website using an old code method. He was saying that no one knows how do it the way he was anymore and that there are many new programs out there that will do it easier. The thing is, I think my dad knows more about computers than I do.  :-\\  My mother, on the other hand, has trouble turning hers on. She counts on my sister or my nephew to help her with simple things like retrieving documents.

great I got the coral honeysuckle I ordered from amizon and it's bigger then me.  If I were to by anything near this big at my local nursery, I would have paid at least $20 more.  So I've been untangling it and trying to fit it on to my trellis. To be continued.

Well I'm just keeping it in the pot it came in for now, maybe later when I get some more potting mix I'll put it in a bigger nicer pot.  The coral honeysuckle doesn't have any flowers right now, but it probably will soon.  The Carolina Jasmiine I got had some flowers on it, but they'll probably start getting too hot and take their flowering break from the heat.  Whatever came up for me looks nice, but am afraid will get hot and disappear.  one variety of verbena is sprouting in a pot as well as some nasturtims. Only thing in the ground is dirt so far.  Sure, I'll take some pictures when I go out to fix up the honeysuckle on the trellis a little more.

Much like I do with the jobs I search for and apply to. Speaking of which, I haven't heard anything about the job I interviewed for last week, whether or not they've selected anyone for the position. Guess they need time to evaluate all the people they've interviewed, and decide on who they feel will be the most qualified.

yeah and any I can get I'm happy for.  I finally do think I have it fiqured out for my garden this time, I need plants that go dormant ( sleep in the winter).  The honeysuckle and passion vine does that.  All the other butterfly plants don't go dormant, but because I like the common buckeye butterfly, I am going to have a pot of tall verbena I wil move as needed for it to host and eat from. I've had some adults eat coreopsis, which I will also have in a pot and move as nessesary. One butterfly at a time.

So I had my job interview this morning...and it seemed to go quite well! At the end, I asked the people interviewing me when I'd be hearing back, and they said possibly by the end of next week, or soon thereafter, since they will be interviewing a few other candidates for the position.

By the way, I still have not yet heard back from them, as of today. Chances are that they might still be interviewing other candidates, or are taking time to evaluate everyone to see who will be right for the position. Meanwhile, I am still looking for other positions.

did a little weeding in my garden and stuff, want to make it look nice, especially if y all would like a picture.  Just about all the larva in my pond is dead with a few survivors running out of spots to get air.  My dad has brought up the idea of doing a waterfall for better circulation, but I don't really seem to want one.  I'm doing solar powered pumps and waterfall or not, how many pumps will I need to possibly get the pond circulated to keep the larva out?  Maybe less water and a second pump before I just give up and throw away the pond.

Overslept this morning, hey it rained! maybe that will help get some more sprouts up.  Now that I finally figured out what kind of plants I'll have to use that will work for me, I need to plan the garden.  I know I'm after that buckeye butterfly.  It comes here in fall, likes low weedey open spaces ( perfect) ,and will appreciate a windbreak.  Last night, I was on amazon to see what they had and what I might be able to do.  The little plantstand greenhouses they have look like they'll work for just putting a potted plant or two inside them during fall and winter.

Made it home in one piece.  Thankfully.  It was warm in Vegas.  We hit Utah and there is a storm.  First we get to the airport and there is a 40 minute delay on our flight.  We were able to make up all but 10 of it in the flight.  We get to Utah and the storm was headed our way.  The landing was really rough with all the wind.  There was one drop that made most of the people on the plane gasp and I actually cried a little.  Scared the crap out of me.  We got off the plane to wind, by the time we hit baggage claim it was snowing.    Now it is still snowing.  Crazy night.

Getting the kids involved is a great idea.... You coulddedicate a theme a game.  One game could be blanket day the next slipper day- then everyone who comes has to bring slippers and blankets.
