Why oh why does Jerry mouse's cousin keep sending his kids to stay with Jerry despite the fact that he is almost constantly being chased by Tom the cat? Invariably their holiday consists of nothing more than a non-stop series of cat and mouse chases from which they are lucky to escape unscathed.

One possible theory is that Jerry Mouse's cousin and his son live in a house with a cat that is much more intelligent and clever (not to mention evil and sadistic) than Tom is. So much more intelligent and diabolical, as a matter-of-fact, that Jerry's cousin and his son have never successfully completed a raid on the refrigerator and have been forced to survive on a diet consisting mainly of the glue that holds the furniture together.

Not only that, but to add insult to injury, whenever the cat thwarts their feeble attempts to forage for food he also captures them and occasionally he'll torture them as well (usually through waterboarding).

That being said, the reason that Jerry's cousin sends his son to stay with Jerry is that Tom is so dim-witted and easily outsmarted that it's like a vacation for his cousin's son, and for a few days out of the year he gets to eat like a king.
