Did anyone read Dear Abby today?
DEAR ABBY: Five years ago, when my niece was 9, we came up with the idea of making Christmas cards and sending them out to special friends and family members. We both work hard to make sure each is attractive and in good taste, and we handwrite a personal note inside. We also print on the back that the card was "handmade with love." This has become a tradition for the two of us, and the cards are quite beautiful.
Last year, after we sent them out, I received a card from a friend with a small check inside. The card read, "I'm sending you this check so you can afford to buy 'real cards' next year." I was, to say the least, hurt and offended. I wondered if others felt similarly, so I asked around and was shocked to learn they, too, thought I was "cheap." Although it cost more money and time to create each card, no one appreciated them.
We won't be making the cards this year, but how do I tell my niece why? I don't want her feelings hurt, too. -- BLUE AT CHRISTMAS
DEAR BLUE: Tell your niece what you were told -- and by whom -- so she won't waste any more effort on these rude and unappreciative individuals. Better she hear it from you than one of the recipients.
As to the "friend" who sent the check, I hope you returned it and deleted her from your Christmas card list. What she did was uncalled for.
I just couldn't believe that. Having made cards myself, I know what goes into making them.

You should do what I do, have all of your addresses in a document (I prefer WordPerfect). Then before you are ready to do your cards, look it over and make additions, deletions, changes, etc. and then print on Avery labels. That way you don't have to WRITE out each one. It is a lot easier-and faster.

Good suggestion, Cat. I think you can also do it in MS Word but I have not experimented with it enough times.

That person was an idiot! >:(
One of my friends made cards from her family using their Mii's.... for those of you who don't Wii.... a Mii is a character you create to use on Wii...typically the character is created to look like you.. she took pics of her Mii's (the entire family's) and then put them on a card that read Wii Wish You a Merry Christmas.... I thought it was quite clever. She was so excited about it. some of her older relatives who don't Wii didn't get it... other people who have Wii'd thought it was lame.. .she was hurt.

I recieved cards from Nally, Henk, Karen and Badfingerfan. Thanks you guys, they made my holidays. :)
I thought about sending you a card. Hopefully you were able to read my mind and know I meant every word I thought! :D

Got a lovely glittery card from Paco the other day (I think I'd forgotten to mention that it came in the mail.) Thank you Paco. :)
Good to know it didn't get lost,
and that you liked it is the most ;)
I can't fight that mad fad of rhyme words every now and then ::)

Seeing the date we are right now...
It seems my card were shipped in the wooden Schooner Lettie G. Howard,
or maybe the four-masted barque Peking the world's last operating sailing freighter.
And then carried on to the Orange Blossom Special, coast to coast.
May next year I'm gonna take them for myself :)
In any case I'm glad my merries got your place dear Mike. ;)
