Sinterklaas is a traditional Winter holiday figure in the Netherlands, Belgium, Aruba, Suriname, Curacao and Bonaire; he is celebrated annually on Saint Nicholas' eve (5 December) or, in Belgium, on the morning of 6 December.

Yes, we've had a fun evening yesterday. Sadly, no gifts were exchanged (a money issue, I'm afraid), but we did drink a nice hot cocoa, ate some gingerbread biscuits/nuts and almond pastry, and played some shuffleboard (no, I didn't win).
