Written By: Tam on 10/04/10 at 8:55 pm
Hey All.
Ok Peeps! My Cousin is in a contest where she has to wear dreads and a beanie for a certain amount of time. Right now there is a vote for your favorite. What I need y'all to do is go the the link and click on "Vote for your favourite Jamaica Mon, you have to register but I swear they aren't going to spam you, and once registered I need you to vote for Number 39!!! Thanks so much!!!
http://www.fm96.ca/home/default.aspx
(The Jamaica Mon link should appear as soon as voting is open!) ;)
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, my cousin is in this contest where she has to wear a beanie and dreads, last person standing will win $5000 and a trip to Jamaica.
Anyway, immunity is up this week and whoever identifies ALL 13 songs in this montage wins the challenge.
Here is the link to the music montage:
http://www.facebook.com/video/video.php?v=1396784527191&ref=mf
Obviously, the lyrics spell out what the name tag says. We have been given #1 and of course I have #2 but from there I need serious help.
1 - Hello I Love You - The Doors
2 - Sympathy For The Devil - Rolling Stones
3 - Life is a Carnival - The Band
4 - Big Balls - AC/DC
5 - No More Mr Nice Guy - Alice Cooper
6 - We Will Rock You - Queen
7 - FM (No Static At All) - Steely Dan
8 - Workin for MCA - Lynyrd Skynrd
9 - One After 909 - The Beatles
10 - No Sugar Tonight/New Mother Nature - Guess Who
11 - Hotel California - Eagles
12 - Wheat Kings - The Tragically Hip
13 - Gimme All Your Lovin - ZZ Top
I only hear 12 changes, but apparently there are 13.
"Class" sounds familiar but I can't get it, same as "M" "Ninety".
This is driving me nuts!!!
Please help me out here!!!
Karma to everyone who does!!!!

oOo and I think I need this solved by Wednesday but I am not 100% sure on that ;)

Holy schitt! I didn't realize that was the video. I thought it was just the station's little ditty do before they show the actual video! ;D I'm not normally a pessimist, but that thing is damn near impossible to figure out.

Holy crap! That's hard.. Blink once and you've missed it.
Still, I'm pretty sure the "Rock" (#6) is taken from "We Will Rock You" by Queen. And either "Nine" (#9) or "Six" (#11) is taken from "Hotel California" by the Eagles. But by the sound of it, it's also possible BOTH #9 and #11 are from that very song.
FTR: #8 is"M", #9 is "Nine", #10 is "Tee", #11 is "Six". ;)

3. "Is"
Cousin says someone is 100% sure it is Tom Petty
So I went through the songs.
The only one that sounds close enough is Here Comes My Girl
First Chorus "She IS all I need tonight"
For this willing to youtube it let me know what you think please.

13. "Tons"
I'm not 100% sure, but the hint of guitar in the background has me leaning strongly towards ZZ Top's "ton" in Gimme All Your Lovin'. ("You gotta whip it up / And hit me like a ton of lead" is the right age - mid-80s - for that ZZ-top-style guitar...) On one hand, the video definitely has as "s" after it. On the other hand, "Hello, my name is Classic Rock FM 96 Kingston" makes a lot more sense than "Hello, my name is Classic Rock FM 96 Kingston's".
#10 - "...tey" - my brain's saying "something Led Zeppelinish" for that cymbal crash, but I can't place the song yet. Any Zep fans inspired by this idea?

Hey Foo!!!
Thank you
I am going to give her the ZZ Top and see what she thinks.
Someone else mentioned to her that Zepplin was in there somewhere - but they were trying to say that "nine" was the song Kashmir, which it definitely isn't... :-\\

How 'bout Van Halen? SomeZep's "Rock and Roll" as the track with the drum that accompanied the cymbal crash, but that voice is sounding more and more like David Lee Roth, and the cymbals are reminiscent of 1984-era VH. (Think "Panama" or "Hot for Teacher" - although if it was in Hot for Teacher, I missed it. I think the key to "-ty" is getting the singer correct...)

If you can view an MP4, you should be able to just use the direct link to the video. (There's another URL for a lower-resolution video, but this should be fine. It's only 400K.)

Can never leave may be a reference to Hotel California that Henk has mentioned.

No sugar tonight is by The Guess Who. I don't have time to listen to other GW songs to see if I can figure out which one it might be, but I will when I come home.
