I'm going to my high school reunion :D  And work on the new house :)  and work.  That's about it.

Got another wedding to go to in October (but this time we're just guests and hubby isn't a groomsman).  Same group of friends of the hubby.  Marriage has been popular with them this year, three weddings out of them all (and they all married other members of the group.)  (No it isn't a lonely hearts club either  lol)

Gonna decorate as usual for Halloween, it's my favorite holiday. 

it's my favorite holiday too I don't know what I'm going to be doing or it, but I'll probably have that one tie die shirt sewn and a witch nose or something on that mask I showed youall at some point of time.

I love October,It's a cooler month,weather-wise.

I keep track of the anniversary of just about everything that has happen in my life-but that is how my brain works. However, I will say something to Carlos on June 25 because that is the anniversary of our first date. But as for celebrating, October 18th is the day. We usually go to the restaurant where we had our reception and the owner usually gives us one of those small bottles of champagne-either she will take it off the bill because we always order it or she will give us one to take home with us.

Congratulations (early).  James and I have been married 7 years last January (been seeing each other two years prior to that).  I know exactly what you mean by the seems like yesterday and together forever.  Same here.

Well I was meant to be going to payday pub friday tomorrow but I think the foot has scuppered that plan. We will be going to see 'Back to the Future' on the big screen this weekend for the 25th anniversary.
Next friday is Bowling for Soup in Exeter with Himself's sister and her husband, then baby Oscar's christening on the sunday.
Home on Monday for Lewis's 16th birthday then Bowling for Soup in London tuesday as his birthday surprise.

Today is Homecoming night - the week is about over.  Game tonight, against our arch rival town, and then the FFA is sponsoring a Movie night after the game.  It will be a "sit in" in the Gym.  We have a huge screen and we are giving out milkshakes and popcorn.  Hopefully this will keep some kids from getting into too much trouble after the game.  We are watching "Blindside" we had to keep the movie School appropriate!

So I have a jury summons for next week... but I won't be going in on Monday. That's because I called the automated line a little while ago and it said that only the first three group numbers (which doesn't include mine) are scheduled to report, and the rest of 'em will need to call back on Monday night after 5pm. However, since I have a pretty low group number, chances are that I will need to report on Tuesday. We'll wait and see.

Got home last night, from homecoming game and FFA sponsored movie night at 1:00.  We only had about 40 students show up for movie night.  But taken that 3 kids were hauled off to jail, trying to do their own "Homecoming thing".  There is a barn - called the graffiti barn - every year us an the "rival" town (it is on L-M puplic school territory, but owned by rival town landowner) have fights over who's names and colors are going all over it - this is generations (it was graffitied - ever since my husband can remember).  Well last night - the fighting got "too personal" and concussions and cars dented and stuff happened (and 3 of our kids were hauled off to jail).  Cops were already out the night before, because there were rival team and us out there, nothing really happened, lots of rumors, cops just wanted to stop it before it started.  The landowner now told anyone who steps foot on the property get's arrested.

We wanted to try and sponsor an activitiy that kids can go to, and maybe not get into too much trouble.  Sooo I guess if this year it was 40 kids (our high school is only 250), next year maybe 80????  We offered free popcorn and free milk shakes and it cost our chapter a whole whopping $27.00, other than time!

I had a really schitty day... I hate my job... I hate my chief and I hate my life...

It depends on whether you actually know how to help your situation, Wildcard. I know from personal experience that sometimes I can't see the wood for the trees and don't even know what I want. If this applies to you, I am sure a lot of us here have been in that situation. You will find your way eventually.  :)

I'm kind of ornery tonight too.  I took my car to the dealership for an oil change today, and also because the brakes were squeaking, and had to have a buttload of work done.  I spent $1289.00.  I'm just sick.  So much for not carrying a balance on my effing credit card.  8-P

I'm as british as ever.  I just generally don't think about translating stuff as I go now.  Though it did cross my mind that people might not know what a skip was.

Took Lewis to see Back to the Future with us, I think he enjoyed it. Came home via the chippy as it was 8.45pm and I wasn't about to go home and start cooking! Watched Die Hard 2 and Hot Fuzz before my brother & sister in law finally came to collect the boy.

Today I am going to cook roast beef with all the trimmings when I can be motivated enough to get into the kitchen!  ;D

Which is why, when I got older and was looking for "companionship", the top of the check off list was mechanic, or someone who could afford to pay the mechanic.  Lucky me I got a one with both qualifications   ;D

Pathmark is a supermarket that is owned by A & P,Waldbaums,Food Basics and Food Emporium.

I might be going in for jury duty tomorrow...I have to call the courthouse phone number after 5pm to find out if my group number is scheduled to report. If so, then I won't be online during the day.

I am feeling a little overwhelmed, under appreciated, and on the verge of quitting my job....  As a teacher, I am just not sure if one can ever do it "correctly" or good enough and I am not sure if this is a good thing for me.  I always think of myself as a failure, if a student doesn't get his work done, or is failing my class. My husband keeps reminding me that the 10% who really do fail your class are because that is what they have chosen to do (not do homework, or anywork...).  As the FFA advisor, there are soo many activities kids could be part of, but soo many of our students do not take advantage of it...  so I feel like a failure there (but I myself cannot make a chapter)...  And I am gone soo much, that I feel like a failure to my family (though they have never made me feel this way)...  How can someone be perfect?

I want a job as an agriculture advocate/educator without the public school nonsense (especially in today's "no chiild left behind/pay for performance" system).... I think it is ludicrous to think all kids are going to succeed, I believe they all can gain knowledge, but not on the same rate/basis/time/or cross curricular as all other students - Not all kids are alike and to hold teachers accountable before parents, seems backwards to me (and soo now I feel like a bad teacher again)...

I might be going in for jury duty tomorrow...I have to call the courthouse phone number after 5pm to find out if my group number is scheduled to report. If so, then I won't be online during the day.

Indeed, I am going in tomorrow (Tuesday). This will be my first time doing so in close to a year and a half, and on the 6 1/2 year anniversary of my first time reporting for jury service.

I am feeling a little overwhelmed, under appreciated, and on the verge of quitting my job....  As a teacher, I am just not sure if one can ever do it "correctly" or good enough and I am not sure if this is a good thing for me.  I always think of myself as a failure, if a student doesn't get his work done, or is failing my class. My husband keeps reminding me that the 10% who really do fail your class are because that is what they have chosen to do (not do homework, or anywork...).   As the FFA advisor, there are soo many activities kids could be part of, but soo many of our students do not take advantage of it...  so I feel like a failure there (but I myself cannot make a chapter)...  And I am gone soo much, that I feel like a failure to my family (though they have never made me feel this way)...  How can someone be perfect?


I think you sound like a Fine teacher, one who actually cares, one who will make a difference.  It's the ones who don't care that we need to worry about.  I think that parents of students need to be more involved.  I don't know if they're too busy or they don't care, but I see it at my kids school all the time. 

Maybe you need to send a letter to the parents of those involved in FFA to remind them of all the programs/activities.  Sometimes parents forget.   

As far as your family goes, from what I've seen here you sound like wonderful mother.  I have so much respect for mothers like you, working at a paying job, working at home and being involved with the after-school activities.

Teachers are the most unapreciated people in the world.  I was just like Snoz when I was in high school, and I wish I could go back and thank so many of my teachers and tell them what a difference they made in my life.  You are doing great work and you are appreciated more than you think!!!  :)  Hugs!

I understand completely. That is part of the reason why I never fully used my teaching certification (that I have since let run out). I was always afraid that I wouldn't be a good teacher-that I wouldn't be able to reach some kids, etc. etc. I think EVERY teacher will tell you that there are kids that they just can't reach-no matter how hard they try. I don't mean to say that you shouldn't try because there just may be that one chance that you can reach that student-and that is so worth the effort. And sometimes you do reach them but won't know. There are many stories about students going back to teachers 20 years after high school and saying something like, "You know, you really changed my life" or something like that. So please don't give up. The country needs good teachers.

...and I got excused at the end of the day! My name was called to report to a courtroom, but I did not get on a jury. The panel was finalized.

Thank you all....  I appreciate all your words.  I just wish our school was not so "results" based. But we are on a persistently lowest achieving school list as well (along with the other 2 schools in our county).  Our county is one of the poorest counties in Iowa, and there is very little faith/religious/moral base...  Not that is an excuse, of course it is not. But there is a lot of generational poverty, and children do not see an out, they continue to stay in the same situation and not try and better themselves.  It is just odd that not only 1 school but all schools in this county are persistently lowest achieving schools. 

I just took 4 students to the FFA District Soils judging contest, and it was a first time for me.  Well we got DAL (dead a$$ last), so I again feel like a failure.  Things I should have told them, things I should have stressed....  But of course our District test is more difficult than the state test (which is what we used to prepare) :P  Not a real shining moment.  But the students did learn that there are reasons for soil judging, not just for agricultural but non-agricultural uses as well (foundations, septics, drainage....).  What soil is made up of - slope etc... 

I guess what I am questioning is what are positive "results"?  Is growth the desired outcome?  How does one decide growth?  What is the measure, is it the same for all students???

I wasn't ever Den Leader in the US but I was a leader in the UK for twenty years.  When we lived in the US I took part in Den meetings as a parent from Tigers through to Bears so I know a little of what might happen!  Though I bet every group is different!  PM me if you like

Okay, so I showed my mom that TTY phone again and she " The phone that Joel found wont work for you?"  Mom- That's phone's not prepaid It's not a good option.  Note she didn't like the prepaid phones either.  I emailed her back about this.  I might have to send her some foul language to go with the e-mail next time.  Good old foul language, just like my dad use to use.  I think the TTY phone is the best option.  I can use it for my home phone and have TTY as well as take it with me.  Unless it would be better to prepay right now for money reasons, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Right now I am cleaning out my desk and packing up my personal belongings from my office.  Tomorrow is my last day here - Friday I start my new job.  Even though I'm really excited for it, I am just so sad to be leaving this one.  I still can't believe how much my life has changed in the past month.  Last night I took my divorce papers over to Steve to file.  That was hard.  Walking into my old house.  Just the smell of it - he smell of him, totally caught me off guard and just about knocked me down.  I know that I've made the right decisions and it feels good to move forward, but there is still a grieving process for everything I'm leaving behind.  No matter what has happened between Steve and I, I loved him once and I always will.  I'm closing the door on a huge chapter of my life.  Not only that, I love my job.  I love my boss and all of the people I work with.  I had no idea it would be this hard.

unless you're referring to another conversation you had with your mom I see nothing negative in her email to you at all...

i see a little frustration on her part but honestly- her email seemed very civil to me.... more polite even- than the tone of your email to her...


She says get the phone you want but to make sure it's not too complicated for you. If you will pardon me for a moment I sense a frustration from her that you might need help a lot. I seem to recall a lot of posts from you about joel helping you with this or needing to wait until he was available to help you with that... she wants to make sure you get something that isn't a burden to yourself and those around you...

she also, in my opinion, just wants to make sure you're not wasting money... if you aren't going to use TTY at all then it is a waste of money to get the phone but- if you anticipate using it because you are going to be more self reliant and make the calls to various agencies on your own behalf then by all means get the phone with TTY... she says get that phone... the only fighting it right now is you.

I think if you sit down and think about all the stuff you need to do- and want to do to get that independence you crave you will be able to determine for yourself if you will use the TTY or if you will be wasting money...

Ann- Yesterday is in the past, you cannot change it... TODAY is the only thing you can change and to take a step forward.  WE ALL have to takes step forward.  Sometimes they are down the wrong path, then we change (find, alter) to another path.  MISTAKES are the biggest learning experiences we have. 

You will miss 100% of the shots you never take...

YOU need to get out there and make your life.  Pull yourself by the seat straps and make the decision, and then learn (either by the phone dealer or through the instruction manual) how to use the phone...  You will not become less dependent, if you stay in your room, and never get out and keep going out and keep trying.  You want overnight miracles, it doesn't happen that way.  YOU can only control YOU.  ANd what your life is, is what YOU make of it.

Are you just looking for a TTY compatible cell phone?  Do you already have a TTY machine? Because lots of phones are TTY compatible now...  I am sure T-Mobile has them.  But you must have a TTY machine.

Went to see Petula Clark in concert last night. She still has a great voice (especially for her age). The program stated that she is 78 year old. The way she was moving on that stage ... I thought she would pop a hip!!  I also didn't realise that she was so proficient on piano... and accompanied herself a few times (with no other instrumental backup).

Hits like...Don't Sleep In the Subway, Down Town, I Know A Place and Colour My World were wonderful...and she sang a couple of tunes in French as well. She had a large career in France and Germany as well as crossing the Atlantic (with the British invasion).

Ann- Yesterday is in the past, you cannot change it... TODAY is the only thing you can change and to take a step forward.  WE ALL have to takes step forward.  Sometimes they are down the wrong path, then we change (find, alter) to another path.   MISTAKES are the biggest learning experiences we have. 

You will miss 100% of the shots you never take...

YOU need to get out there and make your life.  Pull yourself by the seat straps and make the decision, and then learn (either by the phone dealer or through the instruction manual) how to use the phone...  You will not become less dependent, if you stay in your room, and never get out and keep going out and keep trying.  You want overnight miracles, it doesn't happen that way.  YOU can only control YOU.  ANd what your life is, is what YOU make of it.

Right now I am cleaning out my desk and packing up my personal belongings from my office.  Tomorrow is my last day here - Friday I start my new job.  Even though I'm really excited for it, I am just so sad to be leaving this one.  I still can't believe how much my life has changed in the past month.  Last night I took my divorce papers over to Steve to file.  That was hard.  Walking into my old house.  Just the smell of it - he smell of him, totally caught me off guard and just about knocked me down.  I know that I've made the right decisions and it feels good to move forward, but there is still a grieving process for everything I'm leaving behind.  No matter what has happened between Steve and I, I loved him once and I always will.  I'm closing the door on a huge chapter of my life.  Not only that, I love my job.  I love my boss and all of the people I work with.  I had no idea it would be this hard.

By the way, my mom finally sold my grandma's car yesterday. The person who got it was one of my mom's coworkers, who test-drove the car 2 weeks ago and made an offer. So today my mom brought the car, the keys and the paperwork to the office so that the coworker (whose name is Claudia) could sign 'em and officially own the car. So after 21 years, my grandma's car is finally sold.

I had to follow my mom to the office, so that she could have a ride home. In doing so, I drove on the 101 freeway by myself (i.e, without carrying any passengers), past the Main Street exit near the 126 interchange, for the first time ever. The more I drive in fast traffic now, the more confident I feel. I didn't drive home, however; my mom did.

no, I don't have a TTY now.  I barrowed one and didn't really have any friends to call at the time.  I still don't have a bunch of people to call and I've never talked much.  never heard right all my life and I've kind of grown up hating phones.  I wish I was introduced to the Deaf culture as a child and was learning sign back then.  Anyway, no I wasn't using it at the time and I agreed to let mom take it back.    

I was originally looking for a phone with a qwerty pad I could do text with to tell mommy where I'm at when it's late or she insist's on picking me up instead of letting me take the bus.  

Then she brought Joel in here and seems to me like she kept telling me what I needed and I once again tried to  meet her demands.  That's exactly what it feels like to me.  Ask her what she wants and she finally says I can get whatever I can make work for me.

Went to see Petula Clark in concert last night. She still has a great voice (especially for her age). The program stated that she is 78 year old. The way she was moving on that stage ... I thought she would pop a hip!!  I also didn't realise that she was so proficient on piano... and accompanied herself a few times (with no other instrumental backup).

Hits like...Don't Sleep In the Subway, Down Town, I Know A Place and Colour My World were wonderful...and she sang a couple of tunes in French as well. She had a large career in France and Germany as well as crossing the Atlantic (with the British invasion).

Sounds great. I always loved her. I thought she was great in Finnian's Rainbow. VERY talented but IMO very underrated.

Beautiful fall day here, high of 80 degrees (F), sunny and great.  Jason took the day off, we drove to Living History Farms (something we have been wanting to do for 2 years now).  I got to eat at one of my favorite restaurants and then we went to Bass Pro Shop.  Great day, just got home.  We are great!

I feel like I'm missing something...which article did you write?

I started my new job today and it was awesome!  I really think I'm going to like it!  Everyone was so nice, and I was able to catch on pretty easily to the work.  I still have a ton to learn, but there is so much that I've already done that I don't think it will be that difficult.  I'm really excited and positive about everything.  On top of that, I found out I was given an 8% pay increase!  I was NOT expecting that!  The minimum pay for the position was more than I was already making, but they credited me with the four years I've already been with the district and moved me up into new pay class.  SO COOL.

Sometimes I think you worry too much.

I'm not saying that in a bad way - just saying that sometimes you have to relax and take things one step at a time.  If you over analyze something enough, it can completely immobilize you.  Stop thinking and start doing!  :)

Tomorrow we have another wedding to go to.  It is an outdoor wedding in a park in a small town in Western Pennsylvania.  It should be nice, I hope the weather remains nice for it and our allergies don't kill us.  We started our married life in a nearby-to-there town, so maybe we'll cruisr around and reminisce.  It should take about a hour to get there unless the road construction that keeps popping up around the city re-routes us.

I've been reading it, but haven't posted anything.  I'm a terrible reviewer.  I swear that Dexter could be my husband if he actually went out and killed people.  :-\\  My hubby didn't like the series at first, but then I asked him to give it another try from the very beginning and he started liking it.  lol

thanks      I needed to see that ADD stuff.  The type of brain tumor I had was new and at the time and people with ADD were just given drugs.  My brain works in some of those ways and it's only going to work in some of those ways because I haven't been able to change the way I work over the years and have wondered what's wrong with me.  The answer is nothing.  I think I''m done analyzing, don't see a need to be.  I have some better ideas on how to work with my brain.  Yes incourage me to keep doing.

No time for me to be sick, the little on has had a cough for the past couple of days... this morning she has a fever and a soar throat, and she looks swollen :P  So to the pediatricians for her this morning.  She wanted me to take her, but dad did not want to get stuck at home, and have to do the Princess Hair...  SO he is taking her to pediatricians, so I have plenty of time to do the Princess hair.  AND hopefully we all are well enough, that we can go watch the parade.  IT is BEAUTIFUL weather here in Iowa, record breaking temps of 80 degrees and sunshiney.  ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS and I cannot even see keeping the sick one inside today, I do not think going outside in this wonderful weather and catching some candy is going to threaten her in any way....  Oh being a mom and these critical decisions ::)

Ash is right Ann.  and if you're truly done analyzing then that's great!  The truth is you got dealt a bad hand. You're deaf and you had a brain tumor..... that sucks--- but---- you can't change any of that so now is the time for you to move forward and be the best you you can be... make the most of the life you have rather than dwelling in regret for the life you'll never have. Think of all the people with obstacles who overcame and succeeded....  Hell- Helen Keller couldn't see, hear or speak yet she went to college, became a writer, and an inspiration to millions......

It's so good.... but Tam does a really good job of breaking the scenes down so it's almost like watching it!  :)

I'm not trying to whine about having the brain tumor nor being deaf.  I have tried  to say that I wish I would have been treated as a child with hearing loss/ deafness as a child.  That wasn't my exact wording at the time so maybethat sounded a lot more whiny.  This "bad hand" has left me gifted in certain areas.  I have a brain that only works a certian ways and now I got a much better understanding of how my head works.  I can improve myself in ways that my brain will allow me to improve instead of trying to do something and fail because I cant figure it out and then get feeling all bad and worse getting worse.  All I'm trying to say is I know why I can't figure out stuff now and I can better myself now in ways that wont get me in bad to worse feelings.  

Thank you maybe I cant communicate or whatever, but anyway you care I care and no doubt I need to take action now.  Yes I hope I'm done analyzing and thank you again.  

Once again we were planning to go out on the boat but this time it is the wind-17 mph with gusts up to 20 mph.  :o :o :o  Maybe tomorrow. Tomorrow is the only day we can do it because we have a busy week coming up.  Poor Carlos. The season is coming to end soon and he so wants to get out there. We only got to go out twice this year (just like last year). He is talking about selling the Big Dog. I don't want him to because I know how much he loves it.

I didn't say you whine about it... you do mention it a lot tho and it seems like you use often it as an excuse.

The same, however, goes for how you were treated as a child.  Unless they build a time machine or something you can't change that.
You don't have to like how you were treated but it's time to let it go and start working on what you can change about your situation. It's good that you are understanding how your brain works. That's a big step.  Yeah sometimes it might take you a couple of times to learn something and that's okay. If you fail you still learn something - but if you keep trying that's the best way to over come the obstacle.


think of it this way... everyone fails- if people stopped trying the first time they failed we'd all be crawling around because no one learns to walk on the first try...  I wish you the best of luck Ann. I hope truly can start focusing on the stuff you can control in your life rather than the stuff you can't.

Well...we didn't make it to the wedding.   :( I really kinda wanted to go, as I actually love getting dressed up and weddings are sappy and romantic... and I know guys generally don't like to go to them. (I haven't met a guy yet that does.)  Maybe that's why I watch all those silly wedding shows like "My fair wedding with David Tutura" and "4 weddings" (on TLC), to get my fix of weddings and not have to drag my husband somewhere he'd be uncomfortable and grumpy.  He and I just got married in front of the traffic court judge (no witnesses) so it was a nice, quick, somewhat antiseptic ceremony.  The end result is the same, I'm married... I just don't have all the pomp and circumstance.  Oh well, it's for the best really.  Those things can get to be really expensive if you don't watch what you are doing.  I guess it's a weird quirk in my personality that I really want to have one day of being pretty... in high school, it was all about homecoming and prom (formal dances) where you go to get your hair done and get a pretty dress and meet your friends and go out to eat and dance.  I never went to any of mine.
So then, I said to myself, well there is always when you get married... same deal... except you don't go out to eat.   ;D  I guess being as large as I am, getting a gown wasn't realistic anyways, but it would have been nice to have one picture of me dressed up.  lol  Oh well, I guess it's not meant to be.
I hope that the couple that got married today had a nice ceremony and a loving marriage.  It's alot of work sometimes, and it's not always fun, but it's definately something I'm glad I did.  Someone to deal with me and my quirks as much as I deal with his is nice to have, even if it isn't all violins and roses.  At least it's practical.

I hear ya. The first time I got married was in front of a JP with two witnesses that were HIS friends. I didn't even have a maid-of-honor. All of it was my ex's idea. I allowed him to dictate everything. My dress was the same dress I wore for my 16th birthday & for my high school graduation-and I had to fight for that. (At least it was white).  ::)  Yup-that was how the marriage went to. It actually lasted for 6 years because I was such a glutton for punishment.

The second time I got married I made sure that I had the wedding of my dreams. There were a few things that I wish was a bit different but overall, EVERYTHING was GREAT and I would do it all over again in heartbeat! It was truly the best day of my life.

Well we made it through the parade, and the youngest has nothing more than a cold....  So I left her be in the car helping her sister throw candy  :D  It was 93 degree's and it would be such a waste to ruin a day like this by having a cold.  The girls and dad are now hiking through the forest looking for spots for their deerstand...  ::)

I am SOOOOO sleepy. I guess my workout is catching up to me. Tomorrow is going to be my day off.

I spent a small fortune... some of my socks are the good ones with the support and stuff--- those are the ones I continue to wear. the cheap socks (the ones I got 12 in a bag - buy one get one 1/2 off at kmart so I bought 10 bags or more....) those are the ones in the drawer.  Its funny I used to like crew socks then I hated them.. now I'm all about the quarter sock and/or ankle sock.

Tuesday we have to clean out the lockers and the rest of the week not much going on.

I should go get myself some lunch.  I been looking through my brain tumor, stroke, I've got the ADD symptoms, but I was just looking possibly to go see a psychiatrist or something, but I might not need to.  Need to plan my next  action.  Also been writing a parody over the weekend.  Parodies are my weekend project if I get an idea for completing a whole one.  I've been working on a mask, and working on my garden.  off to lunch.

Youngone and I are going to catch the 10AM $6 matinee of "Wall Street" at the mall, then do some shopping and eating.

Busy day. Went to see my lawyer about my SSDI appeal. That took a bit longer than expected because he had to go to the SS office to get the paperwork. He said he tried yesterday but they were closed. HELLO!!! You KNEW about this for about a month.  ::) After filling out the paperwork, we went to the bank. We were coming out of the building that the bank was in when we ran into our congressman.  :o :o :o  A bit of a surprise. He looked as if he recognized Carlos-I sure he did but just doesn't know from WHERE. We exchanged pleasantries for a moment, shook hands and he went his way and we went ours-to lunch. After lunch, we went to the local co-op. From there, we took the scenic route to our chiropractor's office since we had some time to spare. I took some shots of the beautiful fall foliage and then it was to get some relief for my back. After that, we went to the farm to get our produce and then to the store.

My husband was reading the board minutes from last month (school), where my FFA Nat'l Convention trip was discussed.  The motion passed, but the board suggested that there should be another adult present.... Hmmmm no one ever mentioned this to me (and I have 7 students planning on going, rooms booked, etc....).  I am not sure if I should play stupid, or question the administration....  I feel like I am being set up for a fail.  :-\\  I am sooo uncomfortable right now.  I am tired of feeling like I am always the last to know, and feeling like I always need to change something.  :P

Another busy day. Went to Small Claims court. The guy we sued didn't show up. The judge is going to give him one more shot. Pay up, show up on Dec. 2nd or go to jail. It is as simple as that.

Then we went to the mall, and went to another antique mall to check out moving our booth. The one we have now isn't paying off and it is so far from us. This one is cheaper & closer so it may work out. There is also a consignment shop in the mall. Carlos thinks it would be cheaper but I don't. We have some decisions to make.

This afternoon I'm getting my hair done. Gotta get rid of those grays.

I finally got a letter from my housing company today! I'm cordially invited to their offices (at 10:00 this Monday) to select the apartment of my choice in their latest project.

But that's where the good news ends...

Of the 34 apartments, as much as 27 are already taken. That limits the choice to... exactly seven. Of those seven, at least four are way above my budget (with rents at least 3 times what I pay now!). Which means there are only three apartments left that I may or may not decide to take. Oddly, the cheapest of the three has three bedrooms (while the other two have only two). :-\\
There are a few minuses, though: it's on the first floor (or second floor, for you Americans), and I was hoping to maybe find one on the 4th or 5th floor. And I don't have the building plans at hand, so I'm not sure just how big it is (obviously, I want a bigger apartment than the one I'm currently renting! ::) ).
But most importantly: there are STILL 4 people in line ahead of me. :( The chances of me getting that particular apartment are slim.
I'm hoping one or two people might bail out. You never know...

I know: you can't always get what you want, but I can't help but feeling disappointed.

I woke up with a headache, so I thought it would be a good day to wipe my furnature with a Pledge wipe and do a little vaccuuming.  Cool, I can't spell right now.  Stuff isn't put away.  I can decide if I want to keep all my stuff and if I'd like to get some shelves for my little vase and stuff.

Thanks Patty. :) Though I'm afraid it'll all be in vain. I've done some calculations yesterday and today, and it turns out even the cheapest apartment they're offering is too expensive for me. :( Well, on the bright side: it wasn't what I was really looking for anyway.

I had some eye problems and could barely see without my eyes streaming. I went to an eye infirmary and they have given me eyedrops to take for two weeks but the good news is my sight has massively improved since.  :)

What am I doing?  I have no idea.  I think my mind is doing all kinds of wandering around and I still have a cold like thing.  Nothing bad though, just keep the sinuses well circulated and stay away from too much sugar.

It was a nice lunch. Unfortunately, we got a late start so we were "fashionably late." When we walked in, the paparazzi began.  :D ;D ;D We arrived as everyone was eating/finishing their salads, so we weren't TOO late. But, all the GOOD seats were taken so we got to sit with all of my mother's friends. My mother was sitting across from us so I talked to her for a bit. I really wanted to sit with my sisters (who were at the other end of the table).  :\'( :\'( :\'(  As I was trying to eat, the paparazzi kept coming around. "Dawg" came over after she was done eating and wanted me to hurry up eating so we could talk but every time I tried to put food in my mouth, the paparazzi would be back around. (That is the problem when you have a family full of shutterbugs.  :D ;D ;D ) "Dawg" & I got to talk for just a bit-but not much.

I really didn't get a chance to talk with my two other sisters, my brother, or my dad. The funny thing was, it was my mother's birthday and everyone was giving ME stuff.  :o :o :o My brother gave me a disc that has photos, "Dawg" gave me some coins & some ceramic cats. I fired up my laptop and transferred some files that "Dawg" had on a flashdrive. She called my mother over and there was an old movie of my step-father (who died back in 1992). My sister looked at my mother and said, "Happy Birthday." I don't know if my mother was crying or not. But, she was so happy to see those old movies-which no one knew existed. Oh yeah, I'm in them, too.  :o :o :o :o

When it was time to take pics, we did several of them. The waitresses took a lot of photos for us. When it came time for family pics, there was one where we left a seat empty for my sister.  :\'( :\'( :\'(  Haven't really looked at any for the photos yet (the old & new). I will within the next 24 hours.

Next month I may be driving to Thousand Oaks for a retreat with fellow young adults, to spend a day of "unwinding". In which case I would need to drive a challenging part of hwy 101 (over the Conejo Grade, which is uphill and curvy at the same time; the other direction is downhill and curvy at the same time). I drove this part in both directions last year to and from the dentist's office (at the east end of Thousand Oaks), but I had my mom in the car to give me tips on how to easily manage the situation.

Going to take youngone and a buddy to the Museum of Science.  They like it, but it drives me nuts that any museum could, in all conscience, charge 21 dollars per person for anyone over the age of 12 and still keeps its tax exemption.  WTF!  I get a membership for $110 dollars because Jake likes it so much, that gets us 2 admissions all year long, and I make sure we get our moneys worth.  But hat only gets you into the exhibit halls.  You have to pay for "extras"  like the planetarium, butterfly "garden"(room really), or IMAX show.  It is just wrong.

What am I doing?  I have no idea.  I think my mind is doing all kinds of wandering around and I still have a cold like thing.  Nothing bad though, just keep the sinuses well circulated and stay away from too much sugar.

Ok, I am going to try and decipher this.  What Q is asking.  IF, people keep passing you (or your parents) on the right, then that means you are in the left lane (that is reserved for people driving faster), so why don't you (or your parents) move to the right lane.  People could then pass you on the left, as they should.  Obviously people are going faster than you (or your parents) and they should be able to pass, if they do not this can create a potential accident behind you.    Which was why the right lane is reserved for slow moving traffic, to avoid accidents as people are merging on and off and for slower vehicles.  Lanes to the left are for faster vehicles (they are trying to get to where they are going, not merging, and not having to slow down) i.e. LIFE in the fastlane.  If you (or your parents) chose middle lanes - then you (or your parents) are going to be passed on the right. OR rear ended - you choose.

It is legal... (even in the state of California - which below is taken from)

V C Section 21754 Passing on the Right
Passing on the Right

21754.  The driver of a motor vehicle may overtake and pass to the right of another vehicle only under the following conditions:

(a) When the vehicle overtaken is making or about to make a left turn.

just revisiting the overtaking/undetaking discussion.  Sometimes I end up in the outside lane because I am passing traffic moving slower than I am but, as I go to move back into the centre lane, the faster moving driver behind me moves over into the lane/space I was going to move into.  Maybe I am a little overcautious about making sure I really have passed the car and there is room for me to move back rather than dodging and weaving about the lanes like some drivers do.

I still feel crummy.  Made the call to call in sick :-\\  So I made lesson plans for the sub...  Problem 1, my Ag 1 class has presentations to give.  I am not sure what tomorrow will bring, and I leave for National Convention (Wed-Friday)...  I really do not think I can postpone them for 1 solid week...  My sub can't believe that I would leave such a thing for a sub to do.  I am not sure what I can leave - I just want to cry, I am soo upset with soo many things.

that happens. I may have done it myself sometimes

my question tho was specifically about people who drive in the far left lane even tho there's no traffic in the middle lane and even tho they can see that there is a driver approaching who's going faster they refuse to move over. I don't automatically pass on the right. I adjust my speed and follow them to see if they will yield to faster moving traffic... they never do. If we've gone a minute or more and they won't move then I will pass on the right. It's annoying.

Well,I got the go to start at The Pathmark Of Ozone Park this Thursday The 21st.The Customer Service person Dawn called this afternoon at 230pm.These are better hours much better than the hours they gave me at the Garden City Park one,I have Thursday 1-6,Friday 1-7 and Saturday 2-7,these are the hours to start,I will find out more when I get there.Right Now I have to call my Union Rep to let him that Ozone Park gave me the go to start working.

I just filled in a job application on-line.  I had 5000 characters to use to tell them what my nationality was.  The mind boggles as to what answers they are expecting! 

Another interesting point was that they only accepted on-line applications and then ask if you have access to a computer and the internet to do the job!  I suppose you might just go round a friends house for the purpose.  :-\\

When we arrived at the restaurant, the owner saw us when we walked in and said, "Anniversary time again?" We ordered dinner & one of those small bottles of champagne. While we were eating, the owner came over with another bottle, opened it for us. Yup. Every year she gives us one. This year to our surprise, after we ate, she came over again and said that she was going to buy us dessert and handed us the dessert menu.  :o :o :o When we got home, we were so uncomfortable full.  :P But, it was very nice-as always.

My dad had me put in a job application online for him since that was the only way they were accepting applications (and he knows nothing about computers or the internet.)  Funny this is, he called me long-distance to do it over the phone rather then go to the library and have them help him.  Anytime he needs something looked up online, he calls me.  ;D

We went to the states last week ( NW Washington States). One of the places we visited was the Seattle Zoo (woodland park zoo), and one of the members there decided to pay for us, and show us around the zoo. Amazing hospitality!
It's one of the best zoos I have seen, where you can really get up close to the animals.

I went to a taping of The Big Bang Theory tonight! I had an amazing time...
my friend won an autographed pic and she gave it to me!!! I tried to tell her to keep it but she insisted so YAY!!!!

Oh!!! and!!! ELIZA DUSHKU WAS A GUEST STAR!!!!!  for those of you losers who just said WHO??  ::)  Eliza Dushku was Faith in Buffy the Vampire Layer Slayer... and Angel.  She was Tru in Tru Calling and she was the main doll in Dollhouse!!!  Basically she's Joss Whedon's go to girl so YAY!!!!!! and... I got to talk to her... it was brief but it was enough!!!! and I got an autograph... no pics because they don't allow cameras at TV show tapings...


needless to say I had a fabulous time!!! 8)

I remember going to the Wild Animal Park in San Diego. and they had a tram that goes into the section where they have all the animals.  This hippo just came and walked right up to the tram to see everybody.

A little after 9 last night, Carlos was on the porch (smoking his pipe). I stuck my head out the door to say something to him and out ran Elvira. I didn't want to go running after her so I figured I would get her later and left her out there. Maybe 15 minutes or so, I went outside and called her. She was walking around but it was clear that she was not ready to come in. Carlos came out and the two of us tried to corner her but she escape. We finally went to bed with her still outside. I was so worried last night. What if she ran out into the street when a car went by? What if she met up with some kind of animal and got into a fight? What if she met up with another cat who has feline leukemia (which she is not vaccinated for)? etc. etc. This morning when we went out on the porch for the paper, I was hoping that she would be sitting right there waiting for us. She wasn't. I went out and started calling her. She didn't show herself. I was afraid that she wasn't in the vicinity. Carlos suggested that I go out on the back porch so I did. I called for her and she came down the back porch steps. She must have spent the night on the upstairs back porch (a good hidey hole for kitties. We caught a few cats there when it gets cold-and it was cold last night.)  After giving me some hugs & kisses, she went to the food dish. I figured she was hungry after not eating all night. She is on my lap right now. I just hope that she has learned her lesson about not going out.



Oh, and this afternoon, we are going to the boat to get her ready to come out of the water.

I'm soooo glad you got her back Cat!!!  a couple of weeks ago the Effster ran past me. It was at 2100 hrs and I had to be at work at 2130. It was pitch black- there are no street lightis in my neighborhood... well not on our block.. .our street is two blocks long basically in the shape of a backwards B and we live in the lower B bubble... the only lights are in the hump of the Upper B... anyway---- she ran out and I could her dark shadow streak past me and up the driveway. I ran to the car that was parked on the street and turned on my headlights and got some treats out the back---to lure her cuz she still won't come when called... I'm trying but for some reason that's the one lesson she refuses to obey outside. I was all stressed because it was night and she's little and what if her dumb ass ran in front of a car.  so I go walking the block but I can't see a damn thing. so I go back home to get my flash light... stupid head somehow got back to the mailbox on the corner - I swear I saw her run up the street. anyway I managed to catch her in the driveway and put her back in the house... I was only 30 minutes late for work.

I woke up late today 9.  Went to bed at 10.  I had one of my weird stupid dreams.  I seem to enjoy them and have wondered where they went.  Okay, in this dream, I was trying to use a public restroom and people kept looking over the door and stuff.  It seemed to be the thing to do, everyone was behaving like that except me.  The doors at one point ended up opening, and a few seconds later, I found myself in an open room like an office with people trying to look at me.

the only fudge(s) was the Coke machine right now only accepts quarters and the way the parking lot is made.

I'm home from work,today was pretty interesting.The parking lot was very huge,little bigger than the Garden City Park one but the only problem I had today was this silly looking cartkey that is shaped like a remote control,the red button is to lock it and the green button lets it free and you're supposed to point it in the front to unlock the red stopper metal thing.But overall,I had a good day,people were very nice,welcomed me with open arms but today I was so hungry,that I didn't have a thing to eat except to drink a can of soda and that was it,I was too excited to work but tomorrow I should eat something to give myself the energy I need.I'll have to go back to using my routine again.

Having some friends over for dinner tonight. He is one of the people who takes care of the cats while we are in PR. Haven't seen him since Spring Fling and we haven't seen his wife in I don't know how long. (She couldn't make it to Spring Fling because she was working.) They are great people and I'm looking forward to seeing them.

I went back to my old routine and it felt good.

Another interesting day,really enjoyable,the things that was very weird is that the parking lot is quite tremendous so it took me an hour and a half to get up ALL the wagons but I'm not too crazy about the parking lot is built on a slant so when you're pushing wagons you feel most of the wagons will disconnect from each other so you have to be very careful.And I also got back into my routine of having lunch before starting work which felt quite good and it gave me the energy to work hard but overall I had a good day I will see those guys tomorrow. :)
