What's this?  Did I miss where you mentioned your workplace is closing?  :o  Gee Howard...I hope all goes well with searching for a new job.

One of these days I'm going to have to pull an all-nighter.  I'm so sick of this damn insomnia, usually it lasts a month or two but it's going on almost 5 months now.

I don't want to use alcohol as a sleep aid, Unisom doesn't even work anymore, and I feel like I'm always running on a second wind.  (Second winds are good for keeping you functional, but it doesn't compare to being truly rested)

I think maybe if I just stay up all night and drag my a$$ through the next day, maybe by the next night I'll be tired enough to fall asleep and get back on something resembling a normal sleep schedule.

My husband will complain that he can't sleep if he's been awake in bed for 10 minutes.  That's a long time for him.  What I wouldn't give to have his problems.  >:(

Actually the point is- find out if they will pay out your vacation time when the job ends. Then you don't have to take time off and you still get your money. It works out better for you this way Howard.

Have you ever tried Reverse tie-dye?  You use bleach on a dark colored shirt.  I've don't it a few times an it looks cool.

That's interesting.  I tried St. John's Wart and that's how it affected me but Melatonin apparently works well enough for me.  I also tried Valerian (Root? maybe) (I think it was called) and I did sleep but I had such awful nightmares every time I took it that I decided I'd rather just stay awake and deal.  :D

Had a nice time at the barbecue. Food was good as always and I did get to see a few people who I haven't seen in a while-including a teacher who left the school a long time ago. We got our drinks and placed them at a table and when we went to sit down with our food, she was sitting at our table. One the first things she said to me was, "I'm glad that I ran into you because I was thinking about you when I heard about (yadda, yadda,) macular degeneration." I told her that I didn't have macular degeneration. She said, "I KNOW that but it says that it could work with retinitis pigmentosa." I have NOT seen this woman for at least 15 years or so. She also told me that she has had some treatment for something in her brain and yet she remembered that I have RP?  :o :o :o :o  This was the same woman I made the mistake when I was an undergraduate as a way of saying hello, I asked her, "How ya doing?" because for about 15 minutes, she told me. So, you would think I would have learn my lesson because today I asked her, "So, how have you been?" Well, she didn't go into too much detail (which I am grateful).

I later found out that no one wanted to come talk to us because of her. Another person we saw later told me that the woman scares her. I said that I can handle her. She is a flake to say the least and I am used to handling flakes because I deal with my mother.  :D ;D ;D ;D  Carlos went to talk to another dear friend who wouldn't even come to say hello because of the woman we were sitting with. Carlos just told me, "She sends her love." I would have gone to say hello but she left by then.  :\'( :\'( :\'(

The Golden Princess left the dock about 15 minutes ago and it's heading towards Juneau. I have the Bridgecam opened in another browser window so I'm checking up on it every couple minutes.

Been stuck in the house all day because they repaved our street.  At least three times I thought to go somewhere and then remembered I can't even back out of the driveway.

I had a great time at the show. I won a tote bag and a coffee mug- I gave the tote bag to my friend because I felt bad that she got nothing... then she got the tote bag autographed and I was mad I didn't give her the coffee mug  ;D

Melissa McCarthy - who was Sookie on Gilmore Girls- remembered me from when I was there at the pilot. We had a conversation then about the new series and when I saw her tonight she said "You were right!" Then she signed my 8x10  'To TQ So nice to see you again. Cheers! Melissa McCarthy" I felt slightly better about giving up my tote bag  ;D

A string of baaaaaaaad juju ...  We have been treating him for 2 weeks when we found him with a 106 Fever (normal is 101.5).  He has had 3 vet visits, numerous vet consults and lots of injections of anti-biotics.  He is just a yearling, good news is he got all but 1 of our cows bred this year, so we have 9 little ones on the way come Feb-May. 

If anyone has any good luck charms, I could seriously use them.

I went to an event at Paley.
CBS was screening the pilots of crap my dad says, the defenders, and mike & Molly

I was at the taping for the m& m pilot last spring and they played it at the taping I went to last night.  I didn't watch the other two shows b/c Jerry oconnell and Jim belushi were there and I was busy getting autographs. I was this close to getting a pic with the two of them but I let a 7yr old girl take my turn. After her they said no more.  :\'(

Oh yeah. I ran into the real Joe Dubois we had a nice chat while the real Alison Dubois was in the bathroom.
He kinda remembered me from last year so that was cool. I was the only one who recognized them.  8)

Got my hair cut this afternoon. I was overdue for it.

Best of all, I drove myself to and from the place...on the freeway! My confidence level at driving on the freeway is at an all time high. However, I did have to pass through a couple of construction zones, which caused the traffic to slow down a bit, but it was no biggy.

Yep, they've been doing construction projects on it for several years now! I haven't gone on it in quite a while, except for the portion of it between the 101 (in Sherman Oaks) and the 118 (in Granada Hills) about a month or so ago. I knew that route very well when I was growing up, cuz I used to live in the Valley.

Probably some sort of virus.  He had a fever and was breathing hard for a couple of weeks.  We were treating him with some of the best drugs available,  they just did not work I guess.

I don't normally share a lot of personal information on here, but dammit, I need some hugs right now.

As many of you know, my husband and I have been having issuses for a long time now and have been going back and forth.  Well we finally decided to separate for good and I moved in with one of my best friends and her three year old son.  She recently got out of a long relationship too, so it worked out kind of perfectly for both of us.

One of my biggest issues was finding a place to live where I could take my dogs.  They are like my kids and I really do love them more than anything.  Inititially she was hesitant to have me bring them here because she had a German Shepard mix and a Chow/Pit Bull Mix, and I have a Min Pin and and Akita.  All are breeds with very strong personalities.  But she finally relented and decided to let me bring them.  We were very careful about bringing the dogs together, but it ended up being just fine.  All four dogs got along beautifully.  At first.

But then we noticed that my Akita Jasmine would get really jealous if she saw me petting the Pit mix, Bently.  She has always been incredibly protective of me and very territorial of me.  She went after him a couple times, but we were able to separate them, and we chalked it up to growing pains, and figured that the two just needed to get used to each other.

On top of that, the German Shepard mix had a massive stroke Wednesday night.  I rushed her to the vet, and she lapsed into a coma.  Cicily, my friend, had to put her to sleep on Thursday afternoon.  I came home from work on Thursday just so sad, and went outside to play with the other three dogs.  I was sitting on the deck, just sort of absently petting Bently, the pit, and I guess it rubbed Jasmine the wrong way, because out of nowhere she just attacked him.  It was so horrible.  They got into a huge fight, and I could not separate them.  I tried everything - throwing water, screaming, hitting - I totally pulled my arm muscle out of the socket trying to pull them apart.  Cicily and her ex Amy came home about ten minutes later to find me in between the two of them, covered in blood, screaming and sobbing.  I don't think I'll ever recover.


We rushed both dogs to the vet, and Bently had the worst injuries by far.  Almost his entire body is wrapped up.  Jasmine had her ear almost ripped off.  But she is a lot bigger than he is - she weighs 128 pounds, he weighs only 75.  I still can't believe it happened.  But I think the very worst part is that I can't keep her.  I certainly can't bring her back here.  What if it would have been my friends son she would have gotten jealous of?  Or my 2 year old nephew?  I can't take that chance.  The vet is willing to keep her and try to place her into a different home, and I am so grateful to them for that but I am just heartbroken.  No matter what she did, I still love her with all my heart.  She will always be my dog.  I don't know what happened to her that day.  I miss her so much.  I feel so guilty for her hurting Bently.  And on top of all of that Cicily's other dog died.  I don't even know what she must be feeling.  I offered to move out and don't blame her if she wants me to but she is amazing and doesn't blame me.  It's just been awful though.

We rushed both dogs to the vet, and Bently had the worst injuries by far.  Almost his entire body is wrapped up.  Jasmine had her ear almost ripped off.  But she is a lot bigger than he is - she weighs 128 pounds, he weighs only 75.  I still can't believe it happened.  But I think the very worst part is that I can't keep her.  I certainly can't bring her back here.  What if it would have been my friends son she would have gotten jealous of?  Or my 2 year old nephew?  I can't take that chance.  The vet is willing to keep her and try to place her into a different home, and I am so grateful to them for that but I am just heartbroken.  No matter what she did, I still love her with all my heart.  She will always be my dog.  I don't know what happened to her that day.  I miss her so much.  I feel so guilty for her hurting Bently.  And on top of all of that Cicily's other dog died.  I don't even know what she must be feeling.  I offered to move out and don't blame her if she wants me to but she is amazing and doesn't blame me.  It's just been awful though.

Yesterday was my dads 70th birthday.  Not that we did anything special because he is away for the weekend playing bowls.  Instead we went orienteering, then shopping in IKEA and Decathlon, then round a friends house.

Today is our 18th wedding anniversary.  Again we didn't do anything special (I never got round to buying a card  :-[ ).  We just did stuff round the house and garden (like cutting shrubs back to make it look less like a jungle)

I don't normally share a lot of personal information on here, but dammit, I need some hugs right now.

As many of you know, my husband and I have been having issuses for a long time now and have been going back and forth.  Well we finally decided to separate for good and I moved in with one of my best friends and her three year old son.  She recently got out of a long relationship too, so it worked out kind of perfectly for both of us.

One of my biggest issues was finding a place to live where I could take my dogs.  They are like my kids and I really do love them more than anything.  Inititially she was hesitant to have me bring them here because she had a German Shepard mix and a Chow/Pit Bull Mix, and I have a Min Pin and and Akita.  All are breeds with very strong personalities.  But she finally relented and decided to let me bring them.  We were very careful about bringing the dogs together, but it ended up being just fine.  All four dogs got along beautifully.  At first.

But then we noticed that my Akita Jasmine would get really jealous if she saw me petting the Pit mix, Bently.  She has always been incredibly protective of me and very territorial of me.  She went after him a couple times, but we were able to separate them, and we chalked it up to growing pains, and figured that the two just needed to get used to each other.

On top of that, the German Shepard mix had a massive stroke Wednesday night.  I rushed her to the vet, and she lapsed into a coma.  Cicily, my friend, had to put her to sleep on Thursday afternoon.  I came home from work on Thursday just so sad, and went outside to play with the other three dogs.  I was sitting on the deck, just sort of absently petting Bently, the pit, and I guess it rubbed Jasmine the wrong way, because out of nowhere she just attacked him.  It was so horrible.  They got into a huge fight, and I could not separate them.  I tried everything - throwing water, screaming, hitting - I totally pulled my arm muscle out of the socket trying to pull them apart.  Cicily and her ex Amy came home about ten minutes later to find me in between the two of them, covered in blood, screaming and sobbing.  I don't think I'll ever recover.

Wow Ash... :o  That's a whole lot of sadness to deal with in such a short period. I am so sorry that you had to give up your dog (Jasmine). It's just an awful situation...but you made the only choice you could.  :\'(

I also wanted to mention that my parents got back from their week-long trip last night. They took hundreds of pictures on their cruise, and after it was over, spent time with my mom's cousin who lives in Seattle (where the ship had set sail from). And then in the evening, they flew back to L.A. and got back home just before midnight. They said they had a wonderful time.

Thanks you guys.  I REALLY wish we were all going to Vegas next weekend.  I would love to see you all right now.   :\'(

Today, we have to take a trip to visit our booth to restock it.

Then we have to:

-Start packing.
-Make sure that all is set with the house/cat sitter.
-Cancel the paper.
-Put a hold on the mail.
-Transfer files from this computer to the laptop.
-Wash my hair.
-Change the cat boxes.


All of that has be done in a little over 24 hours. We leave HERE about 2:30-3:00 tomorrow afternoon. Then we go up north and spend the night with the kids and then fly out EARLY Wednesday morning.

I've had a similar situation with one of my dogs and a new dog we adopted... I ended up getting bitten trying to break them up, and I had to get rid of one.  I know how that feels, I think I cried more that day than I ever have in my life.  *hug*

We set the cell phone alarm for 5 a.m. The phone woke us up this morning and we started getting ready to go. The phone rang and it was an automated call from the airline-our flight was canceled. We called and they got us on an earlier flight. Here we thought that it was 5 but instead it was 4:00a.m.!!!!  :o :o :o  So, we got on an prop-jobber at 5:30 a.m. and headed for LaGuadia and then another prop-jobber to Philly and caught up with our second flight we were originally scheduled for. All three flights were smooth sailing. With the exception of the canceled flight, it was uneventful. So, we got here on-time-in fact, a few minutes early-and our luggage arrived with us.  :o :o :o

Just as soon as we got to my SIL's house when my cat sitter finally called. She is all set to take care of them for the next two weeks. What an ease off my mind. Now, I am exhausted. I will probably crash real early tonight.

But, we are here safe & sound.

The house needs just a few minor things like a refridge, stove, a bed, a table, chairs, etc. etc. We will only be here for 2 weeks. We probably won't be staying there at all this trip because we are mainly giving my SIL a break from babysitting my FIL. He is getting more & more frail and he doesn't hear much.  :-\\

Last night I was so tired when I wrote the post about our adventures that I didn't mention the fact that apparently Carlos & I must look like unsavory characters. When we got to the airport at Burlington and going through security (at 5a.m. no less), we were informed they were doing extra screening. First, they swabbed Carlos' hand for remnants of explosives. Then when I was going through the metal detector, I was told not to go through where you normally go through but through a different way. Yup, that's right, I was padded down. How nice. She felt a lump and I said that was the underwire to my bra, she said, "Don't leave home without it." lol. I just think it is kind of funny that we BOTH got nabbed for the extra screening. Like I said, we must look like unsavory characters. lol.

I had extra screening in the UK when I was flying back to the US after going home to my grandfathers funeral and then had an extra bag search in the US customs area.

Went to the house today. The work is pretty much done. The place looks GREAT! Hardly looks like the same place we saw last winter. We met up with a guy by the name of...are you ready for this?...Don Carlos. No sh!t! His name IS Carlos and because of his age, you add the "Don" as respect. He wants to be our gardener. He will start on Saturday. It needs a lot of work. Most of the trees need pruning. The avocado tree isn't producing anything-considering last year there were a lot. We don't know if it is because of the exterminator (who got rid of the termites last winter) or maybe it is just too old to produce fruit. We are thinking about cutting down the breadfruit tree. My SIL tried the fruit and said it wasn't that great. We haven't tried it yet. If we don't like the fruit-we just may cut down the tree. It is kind of a shame because the tree is healthy but it is right in the middle of the back yard and the mess it makes it's unbelievable.  

Before we left, we checked the mailbox not really expecting anything thing. But, there was a flier for a furniture store that was having a sale. We decided to check it out. When we got there, the guy asked what we were looking for. We said EVERYTHING!!! It was kind of funny because he had I don't know how many buildings some on one side of the street, some on the other. One just had stoves & refrigerators, the next one just mattresses, etc. etc. Since we were buying so much, he gave us a great deal on EVERYTHING!!! So, we just bought a new stove, refridge, bedroom set-that includes a headboard, dresser with a mirror, & a night stand, a bed frame, mattress, a dinning room table & chairs. My wonderful husband made it so easy that he couldn't use his credit card (because he didn't have enough credit) so he gave it to me to pay.  ::) I don't have my usual credit card because there may have been some fraud on it so I had them sent me a new card which didn't come yet. The other card that I usually use (Discover) he didn't take. So, I first tried to use a card that I haven't used in a while-denied. Then I tried a card that I haven't used at all-denied. Great. So, Carlos has me call the credit union (where the new card is from). I couldn't hear at first but went into the building will all the mattresses so it was quiet and I could hear. It was all straighten out and back and ran the card through again and it worked. As we were leaving, there was a rocking chair that my FIL was sitting on. The guy said that he would give it us at a deal. Carlos went into his wallet and paid in cash. Unfortunately, there wasn't any living room furniture (besides the rocking chair) we had in mind (a futon that can be used as a bed if need be). All the furniture will be delivered tomorrow.


Now, I'm wondering how many of you are still reading. lol.

We met up with a guy by the name of...are you ready for this?...Don Carlos. No sh!t! His name IS Carlos and because of his age, you add the "Don" as respect. He wants to be our gardener. He will start on Saturday. It needs a lot of work. Most of the trees need pruning. The avocado tree isn't producing anything-considering last year there were a lot. We don't know if it is because of the exterminator (who got rid of the termites last winter) or maybe it is just too old to produce fruit. We are thinking about cutting down the breadfruit tree. My SIL tried the fruit and said it wasn't that great. We haven't tried it yet. If we don't like the fruit-we just may cut down the tree. It is kind of a shame because the tree is healthy but it is right in the middle of the back yard and the mess it makes it's unbelievable.  

Before we left, we checked the mailbox not really expecting anything thing. But, there was a flier for a furniture store that was having a sale. We decided to check it out. When we got there, the guy asked what we were looking for. We said EVERYTHING!!! It was kind of funny because he had I don't know how many buildings some on one side of the street, some on the other. One just had stoves & refrigerators, the next one just mattresses, etc. etc. Since we were buying so much, he gave us a great deal on EVERYTHING!!! So, we just bought a new stove, refridge, bedroom set-that includes a headboard, dresser with a mirror, & a night stand, a bed frame, mattress, a dinning room table & chairs. My wonderful husband made it so easy that he couldn't use his credit card (because he didn't have enough credit) so he gave it to me to pay.  ::) I don't have my usual credit card because there may have been some fraud on it so I had them sent me a new card which didn't come yet. The other card that I usually use (Discover) he didn't take. So, I first tried to use a card that I haven't used in a while-denied. Then I tried a card that I haven't used at all-denied. Great. So, Carlos has me call the credit union (where the new card is from). I couldn't hear at first but went into the building will all the mattresses so it was quiet and I could hear. It was all straighten out and back and ran the card through again and it worked. As we were leaving, there was a rocking chair that my FIL was sitting on. The guy said that he would give it us at a deal. Carlos went into his wallet and paid in cash. Unfortunately, there wasn't any living room furniture (besides the rocking chair) we had in mind (a futon that can be used as a bed if need be). All the furniture will be delivered tomorrow.


Now, I'm wondering how many of you are still reading. lol.

Wow,I'm glad I made it home,wicked winds,showers and heavy gusty thunderstorms whipped through our area a few hours ago causing 3 inches in less than a half hour,plus many trees fell down.  :o

I think it was because of the changes.  It sends up a red flag.

When my mother was sick I flew to NY to see her, stayed a few days and scheduled my flight back.  I had to call and cancel that flight because she passed away.  When I was getting ready to fly back I had to do the extra screening, me and my 5 year old and my 2 year old.  My daughter was terrified.

I was thinking about getting a VCO TTY for my room.  I have found a TTY Celphone that texts and VCO's  I just got to find where and how to get it if I want it.  These newer phones let you put put bluetooth devices in them too, which could help me hear.  I'll see what's at the mall and what I can get my hands on.

Well, it's not FREE but it is a monthly charge for unlimited (or a certain amount of) calling. We have that with our cell (Sprint) & our home phone (Comcast). 

My mother had Vonage and she had an awful time with it. At first, she wasn't getting ANY of her calls. Every time someone called her, it all went into her email account. She also couldn't call out. When we got a hold of Vonage to tell them she wasn't getting any of her calls nor could she call out, they told her that she had to call FROM the phone. But she couldn't call out!!! Oy vey! When she finally was able to call out and calls could come in, every time I talked to her, I couldn't understand her because she kept breaking up. I haven't had any problems with vonage...the only time I have a problem is if my modem goes down but that's an issue with my cable company not vonage. I've been with vonage about 6 yrs.

I don't normally share a lot of personal information on here, but dammit, I need some hugs right now.

As many of you know, my husband and I have been having issuses for a long time now and have been going back and forth.  Well we finally decided to separate for good and I moved in with one of my best friends and her three year old son.  She recently got out of a long relationship too, so it worked out kind of perfectly for both of us.

One of my biggest issues was finding a place to live where I could take my dogs.  They are like my kids and I really do love them more than anything.  Inititially she was hesitant to have me bring them here because she had a German Shepard mix and a Chow/Pit Bull Mix, and I have a Min Pin and and Akita.  All are breeds with very strong personalities.  But she finally relented and decided to let me bring them.  We were very careful about bringing the dogs together, but it ended up being just fine.  All four dogs got along beautifully.  At first.

But then we noticed that my Akita Jasmine would get really jealous if she saw me petting the Pit mix, Bently.  She has always been incredibly protective of me and very territorial of me.  She went after him a couple times, but we were able to separate them, and we chalked it up to growing pains, and figured that the two just needed to get used to each other.

On top of that, the German Shepard mix had a massive stroke Wednesday night.  I rushed her to the vet, and she lapsed into a coma.  Cicily, my friend, had to put her to sleep on Thursday afternoon.  I came home from work on Thursday just so sad, and went outside to play with the other three dogs.  I was sitting on the deck, just sort of absently petting Bently, the pit, and I guess it rubbed Jasmine the wrong way, because out of nowhere she just attacked him.  It was so horrible.  They got into a huge fight, and I could not separate them.  I tried everything - throwing water, screaming, hitting - I totally pulled my arm muscle out of the socket trying to pull them apart.  Cicily and her ex Amy came home about ten minutes later to find me in between the two of them, covered in blood, screaming and sobbing.  I don't think I'll ever recover.


We rushed both dogs to the vet, and Bently had the worst injuries by far.  Almost his entire body is wrapped up.  Jasmine had her ear almost ripped off.  But she is a lot bigger than he is - she weighs 128 pounds, he weighs only 75.  I still can't believe it happened.  But I think the very worst part is that I can't keep her.  I certainly can't bring her back here.  What if it would have been my friends son she would have gotten jealous of?  Or my 2 year old nephew?  I can't take that chance.  The vet is willing to keep her and try to place her into a different home, and I am so grateful to them for that but I am just heartbroken.  No matter what she did, I still love her with all my heart.  She will always be my dog.  I don't know what happened to her that day.  I miss her so much.  I feel so guilty for her hurting Bently.  And on top of all of that Cicily's other dog died.  I don't even know what she must be feeling.  I offered to move out and don't blame her if she wants me to but she is amazing and doesn't blame me.  It's just been awful though.

Congratulations to Cat with the house decorating and I am feeling for poor Ash at the moment, I understand how she is feeling.  :(

As for me, typical crap girl encounters. Not entirely what I said/not said here because I had been away for quite a while. It all fits in with the same topic so it won't hurt one more time...

1. Met a girl called Maria at a party a few months ago, we had an amazing time. I told her I really liked her and Maria told me she saw me as a friend and hoped we could be. Then I got a text message from my friend Sharad telling me he needed to talk with me at work lunchtime. I was confused so I asked him what was up just before work. He told me Maria and he started seeing each other and that she showed him my text message. I swallowed my pride, felt embarrassed and said congratulations. I told him if I knew they were together I wouldn't have pursued it. The poor sod felt quite guilty but I told him what was meant to be was meant to be. :)

2. I was getting tired of being around my attached mates who were talking about couple stuff and so I wanted to be around someone single and just have a good time. Most of my male friends have their own routines but I had a friend on another team called Gemma and texted her on a whim asking her if she would like to go out for a drink. I only saw her as a friend but she is good for a laugh, straight-forward and was proud of her honesty. She said because of child-minding arrangements would I like to go out Sunday or next week as she didn't have the children. I texted back saying the week after as we were getting paid then and she could make better plans for her children. Anyhow, a couple of days later in the week I texted her to make arrangements but she didn't respond. I thought okay maybe she was busy so I went around to see her and asked her if she recieved my text. She said she did and asked if I recieved hers. I didn't so I believed her phone was at fault. I phoned her the next day instead of texting and she recieved my phonecall. We arranged everything for the Saturday. Gemma's phone decided to 'work' as I recieved a text a couple of minutes to midnight the day before telling me she thought going out would be a bad idea. I texted back why and she didn't reply. I had work next day and phoned her twice but to no avail so I thought Gemma didn't want to speak to me. I twigged what was going on as soon as she sent the text but because she decided not to speak to me I couldn't sort things out before going back to work Monday...

...The next few days I accidentally bumped into Gemma but she didn't give me eye-contact. She looked indignantly at me one day and I just stood there puzzled. I didn't see the point in discussing the issue as she made it clear she didn't want to talk with me. Anyhow, today I was getting my lunch from the work's canteen (yes, glamorous life I lead, lol) and we happened to be alone in the canteen. She sat at one table and I thought; "she doesn't want to talk I will just sit somewhere else". She beckoned for me to sit next to her and so thought this was an opportunity to discuss what was going on. She said she panicked because she thought I wanted more from her and didn't want to risk losing a friend. Inside my mind exploded but didn't show it. She knew we were friends and I felt offended that she even thought I had any feelings for her in that way. Of course, I kept that to myself as I hurried my chips and hotdog while she was talking at an unnerving high speed, presumably to avoid the added discomfort of an even more awkward silence. I felt really uncomfortable and quite miserable after that.

Anyhow, I've perked myself up and feel a bit better now. :)

Ha ha, not all women are ridiculous and I will never resort to women-bashing. In fact, I find 99% to be pleasant and sensitive when they are rejecting me (when I did ask them out, lol). This is why I do urge shy men to do go out and meet women because they feel just as vulnerable (if not moreso) as men do. I think men worry they will get ridiculed and insulted if they ask a woman out. Most are very flattered provided it's done in a respectful way and only a horrible woman would 'kick a man in the nuts' when he is being respectful...In which case, she has probably done him a favour already by showing him how horrible she is.

What upset me the most was I thought if there was any woman capable of maturity it would have been my friend Gemma. Still...Nevermind...True colours and all that.

LONG @$$ day. We went back to that furniture place and bought more. lol. They had a chest of drawers that I wanted which we are going to use for sheets & towels. They had a headboard like the one we just bought that we know my SIL just loved and wanted to get a set like ours. So, we were going to buy it but they only had just the headboard instead of the whole bedroom set. So, we bought a different bedroom set and are going to give my SIL the one we bought a few days ago.

Then we went over the house to check on Carlos (the gardener). Man, he is doing an outstanding job. It still needs a lot of work. He did prune some of the trees but others still need to go. It really is a massive job and we knew it would take awhile. We offered to pay him and he wouldn't take it. He said, "No, no. When I am done."

We then went to the mall in Mayaguez (about 30 miles away or so). We walked all over the place looking for one of our favorite places to eat. Unfortunately, when we first got there, we took the wrong turn. So, we went back to where we started from. When we finally got to the place, it was super crowded so we went somewhere else. Then we walked around looking for furniture. There wasn't much in the way of furniture (except for Sears that is so expensive).

We got to the end of the mall and there was the store people had mentioned. We went in and yes, they did have futons. I told Charlie that we WEREN'T getting tweed, leather, faux leather, vinyl, or anything like that because if anyone has ever sat in anything like that when it is super-hot, you know what I mean. We found one that looked very nice and felt very soft-almost like a suede/fleece type material. It was a blueish gray color-very nice. We decided on that. There was a sign on it that said it came in assorted colors. When we asked about what colors it comes in, the woman said, "Gray." Ok, I get it, you can have it in any color you want as long as it is gray. That's ok. We both like the color. We bought TWO of them!  :o :o Charlie wasn't going to ask if they deliver-he was going to try to get it into (or on top of) his sister's SUV that we were using. I told him to just ask. He did and yes, they deliver-TODAY!!!  :o :o :o 

We had some time before they were going to deliver it so we went to KMart-bought pillows, dishes, glasses, a trash bin, and all sorts of stuff like that. Went back to the house and waited until they delivered the futons. They are still in the box and need to be put together but after they were delivered, Charlie said, "Let's go."

Tomorrow will just be a quiet day-doing laundry.  ::)  My SIL will be flying out tomorrow so we will be "babysitting." I am nervous about that because today wasn't a good day for him. He kept having "spells". Monday they are delivering the NEW bedroom set. The only other furniture we will probably need are some end tables & a coffee table. Otherwise, most of the furniture is BOUGHT!!! YAY!!!!!  I don't know exactly when I will get the photos up but they will be up so please be patient (those of you who are interested-and those of you who are still reading. lol)

Just had a lovely Mexican style meal with housemates eating fajitas, tortillas with homemade salsa and guacamole, drinking tequila and margarita. I don't feel that drunk but I did have a stomach ache so called it a night. I'm a bit of a lightweight, lol.

A couple of days ago I was looking up phones and I wanted to show my mom what I found.  She decided to tell me what I needed.  Something about a pager.  She didn't even say I'd like to see what you found at any time.  She went golfing I played with Joel on the Wii.  So I haven't really enjoyed today.  Maybe tomorrow I can get my mom to look at what I have and tell me why they might not be good ideas.  

Went to Kecksburg, Pennsylvania Fireman's Festival and UFO Days today... yes you read that right... Fireman's Festival (lol) (UFO Days).
In 1965, a meteor about 8 feet tall (and unusually shaped like a mettalic acorn (with hieroglyphic characters on the side) streaked thru the sky as a big fireball which happened to land in Kecksburg (about a half hour west of Pittsburgh.)  The first responders were the volunteer fire department (which is how we know what it looked like.)  The Army came in soon after, cordinned the area off for a day and a half, put whatever it was on a flat bed truck (under a tarp) and said nothing was up there.  hmmmm...

So now, the town has a festival celebrating each year.  My hubby has a friend on the volunteer ambulance squad so we went out for the day to help raise money for the department.  Had UFO Dogs (hot dogs with sweet relish, black olives and black bean chili) and funnel cake.  Yummy.
The weather was nice but the sun was hot on my head, hubby said "You need a hat or you'll get sick) I sat down at a picnic table while he went and bought me a hat.  I said "I'll wear whatever" meaning whatever the baseball cap said (whether it be Kecksburg VFD or I believe or whatever).  What he came back with... was this:

I thought I told people here that I was once research asst. For the pron prof. at UCSB. She's like famous and shyt. Anyway. I wasn't supposed to work on her pron project -we were doing a melrose place project- but her pron asst sucked so I had to help out. (yeah that was an intentional pun  :P )

Went to see Stephen Fry last night doing a reading from his new book and just talking about stuff. He was very funny. Got to say hello at the end when he was signing books and he gave me a sherbet lemon! ;D

He did pronounce my name wrong. I have just spent the previous 2 weeks at court where they also got it wrong, I don't even bother to correct people now. However it DOES irritate me when people mispronounce it, which is funny because I grew up hating my name and being really embarrassed of it. Mostly because people never knew how to pronounce it, yet I never changed it, too lazy really and never found anything I loved enough to change it to I guess. So you would think it wouldn't bother me but it does, that doesn't really make any sense does it!  ;D 

Went to see Stephen Fry last night doing a reading from his new book and just talking about stuff. He was very funny. Got to say hello at the end when he was signing books and he gave me a sherbet lemon! ;D

Right now we are at the house-I'm sitting at our new dinning room table and listening to the chickens-that's right-the chickens. We have chickens running all over the place here. I'm not too sure if they actually belong to anyone. Yup-stray chickens.  :D ;D ;D ;D  And chickens don't know what a fence means. The other day we were here and there was a chicken in a tree-NO JOKE-a chicken in a tree. We are waiting for the new-new bedroom set to be delivered as well as the gas company to come and hook up the stove. This place is just about habitable now. The only things we still need are sheets/towels (that my SIL says that she has plenty to give us), pots/pans, & food. (We brought sandwiches with us today.) Unfortunately, we won't be able to stay here at all this trip. But next trip...

Just had a weird evening

We are looking to replace some of our windows so we are getting some quotes in.  As some of you might know I now work for a double glazing company (they will be quoting us last).  So imagine my surprise when I open the door tonight to find one of our reps here to quote for a different company!  He gave Dai the impression he had recently left whilst he was chatting to us.  And then as he left he said to me "see you soon and I trust you to be discrete"  So Dai asked me what he meant.  He was shocked when he heard the guy was still working with us.  After a bit of talking I decided to call one of my bosses to tell her.  It was a hard phone call to make - I was so nervous!

Anyway tomorrow should be fun at work.  She did say they wouldn't sack him straight out but take it slower.  They had been suspicious of him but had no evidence until tonight

When I worked for Toys R Us I found out a couple of friends were selling bikes out the back door. I was sad that my friends would do something like that. It was hard to go to management because I liked my buddies but I didn't like what they were doing. Plus- if anyone knew that I knew and said nothing I'd be canned too!

He seems either foolish or desperate to try it on with his rival company's employee, lol. I doubt you will get too much recognition for your loyalty to the business but you did the right thing and if you get positive kharma as a result of it, a great bonus indeed.  8)
