Subject: Today is 8-9-10!
Written By: ChuckyG on 08/09/10 at 1:03 pm
At least if you're in a proper country like America... in Europe it's 9-8-10 which makes no sense at all. NONE! at least for another four weeks, and then it'll be 9-8-10 there as well, or as I prefer to think of it, 10-9-8 because I generally write my dates out with the year first so they sort properly, so 2010-09-08.
argh! dates dates dates... I want a fig myself.

How I write dates like this:
9 Aug 10 -or- 9 Aug 2010 -or- 9 August 2010
Well, you get the gist and there is no confusion from either side of the pond.

I sometimes like to write 'em from largest to smallest, so that the format looks like YYYY-MM-DD (utilizing leading zeroes as placeholders for single-digit numbers, so for today it would be 2010-08-09); that is often helpful for me when organizing things. Still, by default I write month/day/year, as that is used on most computer applications, especially databases. I usually only use dd Month Year (9 August 2010 for today) when writing letters.

True...when organizing in folders (or anything electronic) I use year first....but never when writing/typing emails or letters etc.

Yeah; year-month-day, so that when sorted, it gives the dates chronologically. Otherwise all of the same corresponding dates of each year (example, all the August 9ths) would get clustered together, and all the September dates from whatever year would appear later in the list!

And if you put the time first, which no one does... you could make it 05:06:07 08/09/10
