I've always liked wearing the cutoff jean shorts in the summer and have been doing so for the last 15 years. And now that it's nice out I can finally go outside wearing shorts again. However, I've seen posts here and there around the web from college-age kids who refer to them as "jorts" and make derisive comments about them, saying that they're only for rednecks, douchey frat-boys and sleazy Joey Buttafuoco types. So I'm really starting to wonder about them now.

Are cutoff jean shorts as ridiculous in 2010 as bell bottom jeans were in 1987?

Should I keep on wearing them or should I give them all to Goodwill and buy a bunch of khakis?

Or are they still all right?

TJ Maxx are selling denim shorts at the moment  :-\\  They're not cut-offs though.

I say wear what you feel comfortable wearing.

You don't have to switch to khakis you can still get denim shorts - I think it is just the "cut off frayed" jeans that some are opposed to... 

And it is what you are comfortable with (as long as they are long enough to cover you whooo hoo's when it is warm out and you have that hanging low type of feelin ;))! 

Wear whatever you want to wear, but if you decide to retire them you could make a cool pocketbook...

I say wear what you want to wear.  I plan on taking all of Jason's old jeans that are too short (but still fit him in the waist) and turning them into jorts this summer.  I'm cheap like that, and he doesn't give a crap about fashion (yet). :D

I said wear what you want to. Carlos wears cutoffs all the time. The problem is, he doesn't take the time to make sure when he cuts that they are even so he usually walks around with uneven pant legs.  :-\\

I voted "wear whatever you want"  I'm not a slave to trends so I tend to wear clothes that I like even if they're "passe".  Besides I would almost consider cut-off jeans as timeless as long as they're not in those funky colours (90s jeans).
