What is the best thing that has ever happened to you?  Or some of the best things that have ever happened to you?

hmmm great question.... I have had many- I have to think about it.

finally finishing up 15 years of therapy,now I'm a free man.  :)

I'm not sure what the best thing that has ever happened to me is either.  There are a lot of great ones.  It's something that makes you think...

I was born on a Friday 13th and it shows, nothing good ever happens to me. Not even the Luck of the Irish
can break that 13th spell so I keep slogging through life working extra hard for everything I have.

Finding this place is probably the best thing that has happened to me.

As of few years ago,I finally rid myself of vocational programs and now I can focus on work and making money.

So I was thinking about this when I was driving home from work today, and you know, I really think that going into therapy was the best thing that ever happened to me.  Is that crazy or what?  (No pun intended!)

I mean, obviously, finding my husband was a wonderful thing to have happen.  I think that everyone looks for that one special person to spend their life with.  But at the end of the day, I can't be a good partner to him if I'm not complete in myself.

I was able to find a therapist that is helping me become the person I want to be.  And really, what could possibly be better than that?  Since I have been seeing her, I feel like I have shed SO much baggage.  I've learned so much about myself and other people, and every single relationship in my life has improved, especially my marriage. 

I'm certainly not finished - in fact I have a ways to go.  But I would say that taking the step to really take control of my life and who I am is the best thing I have ever done.

Backpacking around America was an amazing experience and taught me a lot about myself.

My Nan is probably one of, if not the best thing that ever happened in my life. I still miss her but not in a sad way, I'm honoured to have known and loved her.

At the moment my nephew is a big happiness in my life.

The best thing that happened to me was in December 1990 when my dad, my brother and I moved in with my nan, grandad and uncle. It was so wonderful to live in a situation where the people I loved were all around me. My dad, brother and I had to move out December the following year but 1991 was mainly my bit of paradise.

As far as recently? I'd have to say quitting smoking almost 2 years ago.  :)

When I acquired my current job.  It's the longest job I've ever had and have met some awesome people in my time there.

Excellent to hear on the quitting smoking front, AL-B. I am very fortunate not to have smoked in my life but my mates are finding it difficult to give up so can understand your sense of achievement. Well done.

For me, I'm hoping the best is yet to come! So far, though, one of the coolest things I've ever won (I didn't realize it at the time) was a chance to play with the Harlem Globetrotters in the 5th grade. (The Harlem Globetrotters are basically a basketball team that play exhibition games--not for serious competition like in the NBA--and showcase tricks and comedy during their games). Two kids from each grade at my school got chosen by raffle to play a game with them in our town's high school's gymnasium. I made 2 points in that game and I recently discovered that my dad had video-taped it! 8) Another really amazing opportunity I had was to intern at an architecture firm a few summers ago. It was my first real job, and taught me a lot about myself and what I would potentially want in a career (though I still have no idea what I want to do with my life!).

For me, I'm hoping the best is yet to come! A December Sunday afternoon a long time ago.  "M" wants a place to crash after working a graveyard shift at the nursing home, the dorm is to noisy to sleep.  No problem, she takes my bed and falls asleep almost immediately.  She looks so pretty, snuggled underneath those blankets, I can't believe this angel has come into my life.  I spend the afternoon trying to read my book, "Lonesome Dove", sitting in a chair in that bedroom, my attention drawn away from the book constantly, just watching "M" sleep.  She wakes late afternoon, sees me sitting there and gives me this smile that melts my heart.  If I wasn't sure before that smile, I was after, I was in love with this woman.

Best day ever  :)

One day I was in a film class (it was like Inside the Actor's Studio where people who work in various aspects of film come and talk about their jobs).

Anyway the prof of that class stopped me and said are you Tq? (there were 200 people in the class so i didn't expect her to know me.  
So the conversation goes as follows....  

HER: I'm teaching script writing next quarter- you're taking my class right?  

ME: um- I hadn't planned on it.

HER: Oh you have to take my class! I was at dinner with Connie (the then film chair), Joseph Bottoms and Scott Frank and she was talking about what a talented writer you are.

anyway- fast forward a couple of weeks, I couldn't get in the class cuz it was limited to 15 students... .I see her in the hallway and

she says: Will I see you this afternoon?

ME: Its full I couldn't get in.

I go to the class- there are 30 people trying to crash it.  She says- if you are not in the class I cannot add you there is no room so please leave....well she said it nicer than that but you get the point....but the look she gave me was pretty much- "don't you dare move"

I sat thru the class and after everyone left she gave me the only add code... .

I ended up writing a script that won me $1500  and met my good friend who is working in the industry so if I ever get off my duff.......
