Tales From The Darkside: The Movie

This week, it is Tales from the Darkside: The Movie, directed by John Harrison, and starring Deborah Harry, Johannsen, Matthew Lawrence, Christian Slater, Steve Buscemi,
Julianne Moore, and Rae Dawn Chong.

Tales from the Darkside is a 1990 movie directed by John Harrison based on the anthology television series Tales from the Darkside. The film, shot in anthology style, depicts a kidnapped paperboy who tells three stories of horror to the suburban witch who is preparing to eat him, à la Hansel and Gretel.

Paramount Pictures' (which distributed this movie) television division would later gain distribution rights to the Tales from the Darkside TV series.

The original basis of this film was to be at one point the 2nd sequel in the Creepshow franchise. It did not come to be, and with the popularity of the Tales From the Darkside television series, producers opted to add the title of that show to the film. However, Tom Savini has been quoted as saying that this film is the real "Creepshow 3".

Film #  2

Bad Santa

One of my favorite Christmas films, it was also one of John Ritter and Bernie Mac's final films. And also one of the best Coen brother films, that they didn't direct themselves.

Flowers In The Attic

Next week's pick, is earlier, because I am on vacation, so for a depressing holiday treat, the cult classic film, Flowers In The Attic.

The film is based on the book, by V.C. Andrews, who has her books ghost written by Andrew Neiderman, currently.

If abandonment and creepiness are something you like, then maybe it will be wayyyyyyy up your alley.

By the way, the movie is not for those easily weirded out.

Apparently, there might even be a remake, in the works.

Gate

Before he was in Blade, World Trade Center, and Cecil B. Demented, Stephen Dorff, was in a fun but cheesy film, in which some kids make the mistake, of releasing demons, by playing a heavy metal record, backwards.

Baddddddd idea.

;D

By the way, a remake is about to be made soon, by none other than, Bill S. Preston, Esq., himself, Alec Winters.

All I know, is that the movie, can't suck worse than The Gate II.  Now that is a bad film!

To round out this month, I decided to pick.....

Piranha II: The Spawning

"The Spawning is the finest flying killer fish movie ever made."  And also the second film, James Cameron made.

Too bad no other flying killer fish movies, were made!

2010: The Year We Make Contact

All though, I doubt that we will see giant monoliths, or twin suns any time soon!

;D

It's not as great, as the first one, but it's still a pretty good film.

This week's movie of the day is.....

The Great Mouse Detective

A vastly underated Disney film, from the 80's. Vincent Prince as Ratigan is one of my favorite parts, of the film.

I dig Great Mouse Detective! I bought the VHS in 1992. Basil of Baker Street is my favorite character, and I thought he was handsome! LOL!! I figured Little Olivia had a crush on him from the way she clung to him while they rode Toby.

This week's movie of the week, is Red Dawn

The controversial film, about Russians invading America (namely Colorado). Apparently, there will be a remake petty, soon.

I wonder, whatever became of C. Thomas Howell?

Red Dawn is a wicked movie.  I usually fool people with this ...

Name a movie starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey:  Dirty Dancing?  No, Red Dawn!

Name a movie starrng Charlie Sheen and Jennifer Grey:  Ferris Bueller?  No, Red Dawn!

This week's movie of the week is...

The ******* cult classic film......

Slap Shot

Starring Paul Newman, as an alcoholic ex Hockey player, who has to coach, a group of anti social misfits, who can't play to save their lives.

I love some of the dialogue in the film....

Jim Carr: Ned, what's a young man of your background still doing playing professional hockey?

Ned Braden: I hate my father.

Jim Carr: Is that right?

Ned Braden: That's what I said, isn't it?

Reggie Dunlop: I am personally placing a hundred-dollar bounty on the head of Tim McCracken. He's the head coach and chief punk on that Syracuse team.

Jim Carr: A bounty?

Reggie Dunlop: Yeah, a hundred bucks of my own money for the first of my guys who really nails that creep.

Jim Carr:  Here's a name for you nostalgia fans: Clarence "Screaming Buffalo" Swamptown. I'll never forget an exclusive interview in which Swamptown revealed that he calls his hockey stick the "Big Tomahawk," and he usually refers to the opposing players as "the little scalps".

McGrath: Are you nuts? A bounty? We could all end up in the clinker for this. You can't put a bounty on a man's head.

Reggie Dunlop: ******. I just did
