he sure is and possibly the best player to ever play the game. when Cal broke Lou Gehrig's consecutive game record, he was given a special gift by pitcher Jim Gott. Gott's first victory  in the majors was with the Toronto Blue Jays and also happened to be the first game of Cal's incredible streak. during the ceremony at Camden Yards to honor Cal, Jim walked on the field to present Cal with that game ball, his first win as a MLB pitcher.  Cal couldn't believe it because he knew what "firsts" mean to a baseball player. He told Jim that he shouldn't do that, but Gott said it was an honor to be a part of what Ripken had accomplished.

The very first international cricket match was between United States of America v Canada in 1844. The match took place between 25 and 27 September 1844 at the St George's Cricket Club, Bloomingdale Park in New York. Canada won by 23 runs. The game was watched by between 10,000 and 20,000 spectators and around $120,000 worth of bets were placed.

good job Canada, being involved in the streak. I went out drinking with 2 Toronto Blue Jay pitchers one night after they played  the Oakland A's and interestingly enough, the one pitcher, Mark Eichorn was with the Orioles when Ripken passed Gehrig and was at the ceremony.  by the way, the pitchers paid for all the drinks  ;)

So far I've had a lazy day, I decided not to go to either of the free concerts today, which leads me to ask.
Does anyone else get free concerts on the 4th? The two here are Foghat and The Marshall Tucker Band

Jess is at the ER now.  Boy and I are watching Independence Day.

Jess should be okay, just have to get something looked at...hopefully minor, but just to be safe...
