All I get to do, as far as my garden is concerned, is look out my bedroom window.  This is it though, I've been watching the suns movement and I'm going to put my potted plants  in the best places I can.  I have Lupine sprouts I planted a while ago and my dad has some pea and pepper sprouts in a near by area.  A little more weeding, ground some plants, and plant those seeds I got for Christmas.  The seeds are a bird/ butterfly mix.

Elizabeth and I helped out a the GS cookie booth this morning. 
James is at a party until 2.30.

Dai has been booking accomodation for our trip to Califonia in the summer.

This afternoon we are probably going to call and see our friends new baby.

Ok, so far, not off to a good start.

My full time part time person has been out since Feb 12.  She will be out this week at least, maybe longer...doctors don't know what's wrong/how to treat.  So far nothing has worked.

Just found out today that my part-time person was offered another job that she applied for.  So I will be losing her, but hopefully not before my other person comes back.  At least my bosses know I can't run this office alone and that I have to be able to take vacation days to take care of my parents......we just don't know where we are going to find a replacement (2 if the other person also gets hired elsewhere).

I have been on hold and transfered 5 times with Verizon trying to find out why they show an arrears on my bill.  They have the worst customer service anywhere.  That is why I refuse to get FIOS. 

FINALLY.  It took me 29minutes and 3 seconds, 28 of which were being transferred and on hold, but the problem is resolved.  Then, of course she asked me about FIOS, and I said not until they resolved the customer service problem.  She said, well we don't work on weekends so Mondays are backed up.  So what happens if I have a problem on Saturday??  Later, dudette....

thanks everyone..I really appreciate the love from all of you. Today was her funeral service..it was very beautiful...rather bitter sweet. It's going to be quite lonely at work without her. The world will be missing quite an amazing woman now.

This afternoon I am going to a wake for my next door neighbour. She was a lovely lady but has been very very ill for a long time so it's  been a relief really that she is no longer suffering. We are just a little worried that her husband will get lonely on his own now, they had been married for 61 years!

My car needs about $1400 worth of work and mechanic says not worth it.  That's great, but a) it's my dad's car and I think he is still making payments and b) I don't have any way to buy a car and insurance!  Plus it is a 2 day job and it is bloody cold out.  :\'(  Did I mention that I finally saved up the $480 I owe the IRS and have nothing left over?

I do NOT want to have to tell my dad.  He never handles this stuff well.

My car needs about $1400 worth of work and mechanic says not worth it.  That's great, but a) it's my dad's car and I think he is still making payments and b) I don't have any way to buy a car and insurance!  Plus it is a 2 day job and it is bloody cold out.  :\'(  Did I mention that I finally saved up the $480 I owe the IRS and have nothing left over?

I do NOT want to have to tell my dad.  He never handles this stuff well.
Hope things get better for you as well.  I know how my mom gets when things go wrong, she thinks the world is out to get her :-[  I just want to help.

I had an enjoyable haircut last night. my 37 year old stylist just wanted to talk about 70's rock bands & any excessive partying experiences I may have had.  this is the 2nd time that she's trimmed my friggin eye brows when all done doing my hair. it's funny and yet, it makes me feel old  :-\\

I'm just chilling with a glass of wine, it's been a long day. Yesterdays wake went really well, a lovely celebration of Betty's life. We also got to meet some more people from our street which was nice. I then went and had my hair done.I got persuaded to have it cut into a bob which I like thankfully!  ;D

Well, I've been to the urologist today. Everything seems to be in order, although I have to wait for the results of my urine test (to see if there really is no more blood in it). From what I could see, it looked alright - but I'm not a doctor.

Spent well over an hour in hospital...

..spent about five minutes with the urologist, told him I was feeling fine, no more pain...
...urologist wasn't entirely satisfied when I told him I hadn't actually SEEN anything leave my body...
so he sent me to radiology to have a photo taken...
back to urology - photo showed a kidney stone...or maybe not... :-\\...no probably not, just a false echo
well, you know...let's take a sample of your urine, see if there's any blood (to be on the safe side)...
...And what about the MRI? I asked.
Well, he couldn't tell - not for sure, anyway. Looked okay, but...
So he suggested I make an appointment with the surgeon who ordered it (Grmbl...should've thought of doing that myself... >:( :-[)

Off I went to take a leak...
...thank goodness I didn't have any problems peeing... ::)

Elizabeth's teacher last year told a story to the class about being required to bring a stool sample to be tested.  He had to drop the sample at the doctor's office.  Somehow he went to the wrong office and tried to hand the sample to another non-medical receptionist!

Youngest has been 24 hours without a fever and she has ate us out of house and home today!!!!  She played soccer outside some tonight (it was warm 60 degrees and Sunny) and rode her bike.  I am so excited, we are over the worst.

Unfortunately their elementary school is not they have had to report to the state the last 3 days that more than 10% of their students have been out ill :P  Flu Fliers are posted everywhere, and when and when not to send your child to school (they had to send home 47 students yesterday and there was already 30+ out).  Crazy sick going on around here.  Hope we are through :-[

Today my hubby was diagnosed with Macular Degenerative, which is unusual for a man his age.  Usually people are alot older when/if they get it.  Hubby said they had told him he was starting to develop it 15 years ago (when he was examined in the Navy.)  Today, apparently it's worse, although they haven't really told us much.  They are supposed to prescribe him some vitamins with Lutene? which I think I've read occurs in tomatos.  Apparently it helps eyesight problems.  Hubby is naturally upset and grim, but has accepted that this is happening, and I've told him that whatever we have to do to make life easier for him, we'll do.

I just had my random phone call again.  I decided to listen to the whole message today and it told me nothing useful.  So I think I know who is calling and what its about but they still haven't told me.  I think they are trying to recover costs from my mums visit to the emergency room when she was here last summer.  Which means her insurance company didn't pay the bill I sent to them.  More phone calls to sort it out.  >:(

My car problems keep growing.  Don't have it back yet.  Micah called Curt yesterday and he said that he won't even start it because there is something (he explained it but I can't) leaking/wrong so that if you try to start it, the engine will explode.  They are having major bad luck trying to find this part.  I tried calling him on his cell last night, went to voice mail and he didn't call back.  I know he has been at the shop almost 3 hrs this morning and no word.  Can't be a good sign.  I'm thinking we aren't going to be able to go over and check on my parents......I am trying not to think about how much this is going to cost. 

Got news....car's fixed.  Curt is eating as much of the expense as he can.  This job that would have been over $1,000 is costing me $393.80 including tax.  He felt bad charging that much, I feel bad for him charging me so little....don't get me wrong, words can't express how much I appreciate it, but I still feel horrible that he is eating so much of it.

I just phoned the insurance company.  They are still processing the claim but have been in contact with the hospital about it.  I was told just to ignore the calls asking about it.  I did just e-mail patient accounts confirming that I knew the account was being processed.


I took the kids to school this morning.  We were a bit late getting ready for the school bus, and Elizabeth had to take her violin in anyway so I gave them a lift.  Then I went to Curves to do my half hour (plus some because I lost track of time!)

I am sorry about this. I understand completely because a few years ago, I was declared legally blind-which is kind of strange since I can still see. However, there is a chance that I can lose my sight totally-so I REALLY understand.

We were told that the only meds she is on are the meds she was taking at home. But, now she is slurring her words and such which is not like her. Our theory is the fact that the meds had made her sick so at home, when the meds started making her sick, she stopped taking them until the side affects subsided and then went back on them until the side effects bothered her. But, in the hospital, they didn't stop them-just kept giving them to her-which is probably making her slur her words.

As for her stomach being bloated, that was from a urinary tract infection which antibiotics are clearing up.

Now, my sisters & I are trying to figure out what to do with her because it is getting more & more apparent that she really can't live alone. She doesn't eat right, she really isn't taking care of herself, etc. etc. She doesn't want to move which I can understand (she loves her home) but she doesn't have the $$$ for in-home care. My sisters are closest (not including my brother but that is a different story  ::)  >:( >:( ) which is 2 hours away. We are about 3 & a half hours away. My sisters want to move her to Conn. to be closer to them but she doesn't want to go. So, we are in a BIG dilemma.

Good question. I haven't the foggiest idea. The matter really needs to be looked into. I was hoping that Medicare/Medicaid would pay. I looked into it briefly the other day but I'm still not too sure.

My car problems keep growing.  Don't have it back yet.  Micah called Curt yesterday and he said that he won't even start it because there is something (he explained it but I can't) leaking/wrong so that if you try to start it, the engine will explode.  They are having major bad luck trying to find this part.  I tried calling him on his cell last night, went to voice mail and he didn't call back.  I know he has been at the shop almost 3 hrs this morning and no word.  Can't be a good sign.  I'm thinking we aren't going to be able to go over and check on my parents......I am trying not to think about how much this is going to cost. 

Got news....car's fixed.  Curt is eating as much of the expense as he can.  This job that would have been over $1,000 is costing me $393.80 including tax.  He felt bad charging that much, I feel bad for him charging me so little....don't get me wrong, words can't express how much I appreciate it, but I still feel horrible that he is eating so much of it.
good news on getting your car fixed Amy and that you don't have to pay as much.  don't feel too bad that you weren't charged more. he'll be blessed in some other way for treating you right. karma my friend.

I, too, am very sorry to hear about your friend, Mike.  I hope you all are able to bring some happiness....sometimes you just need some light amid all the despair.  It will be nice for him to take his mind off of it for a short time.  I'm glad you are taking the tapes over.  Try to have fun!!  And karma back to you!

I did my good deed today.  My neighbor accidentally left her keys in the front door, so I knocked and told her.  She was so grateful that she rewarded me with some awesome Mary Kay products.  These are not sample sizes. :o  I love Mary Kay stuff (especially their facial cleansers....they're the only ones that ever eliminated my acne), but I'm never able to afford it, so this just makes me happy.

We went skiing today - perhaps the last chance for this winter.  I skied for about an hour and a half and then met the others for lunch (I'd had a lesson voucher to use up).  I was so tired!  I skied once more after lunch and then gave up and had a cup of tea and a cookie!

it sure does suck and we had a really good time so I think his spirits was lifted and he had a good time visiting with his old buddies.

...so there were about 6 of us guys that used to be on the softball team back in the 80's & early 90's and a few other guys there to support our friend. we had a great time looking at old picture albums, watching a documentary on steroid use in America and then we watched Abbot & Costello meet Frankenstein. Our friend Randy has lost some weight, but he still sounds great. he's still doing his DJ job at the radio station he works at, but he has to be driven to work, so I gave my number for him to call for a ride if one of his regulars can't make it. anyways we ate lots of food and there were about 6 boxes of Girl Scout cookies and we munched on those. It was like a mini reunion of sorts since we don't see each other too much anymore, but back in the day we used to be a closely knit fellowship of guys. our team started back in 1980 and there are only 2 original players left that still play. me & my friend Brian who is the current coach. It was funny looking at pictures of us from 1984. I was lean and my hair was solid black  ;D  oh well, life goes on and hopefullly Randy's life will go longer than expected. thanks all for your thoughts and hugs and prayers. it means a lot to me.

Sorted out the kids clothes today - what still fits etc.  A charity called on Friday and they will collect the clothes I have sorted on Tuesday.

We are going to watch Speed Racer this afternoon.  Other than that - no plans

Day just turned sucky, it was already grey and raining (with flash flood warnings - as it has rained for the past 2 days).

Now my inlaws called me - as I worked at a vet. clinic for 3 years - I am the "resident" vet. >:( (plus the vet. on call is at church till 3:00 and so he will not be available for emergencies - what is the point of having an emergency vet on call - if they are unavailable >:( >:().  Inlaws dog, is bleeding out.  It possibly got into mouse poison 2 weeks ago - they never called anyone after this possibility - they watched the dog for signs of illness (not sure what signs they were looking for).  Woke up this morning, the dog is bleeding out of his penis - poison overdose.  UGGGGHHHH - (they could have given it vitamin K for a week - if they would have asked.  Dog would have been fine).  Now quite questionable???  They just left me know, well he did it last year and he was alright, never did this before.  Well he halfway shot his kidneys the first time around, now they are completely gone ::)  Wonder how many times the dog has done it, that they didn't know?

So frustrated, so preventable, so needless, could have been a simple fix - 2 weeks ago.  I am trying to be nice here.  Take the dog to the vet, or CALL ME WHEN I CAN DO SOME GOOD.

Shower stuff and hair crap... so much to pack! And I have to find a bog around here I want to use when we go out. I don't plan on lugging my purse around with me, so all my ID and crap will be easy. But if we shop I want to have my recycle bag with me, and I want to have a bag large enough to carry a constant bottle of water and other trivial things. ;)

My purse is a single should strap leather thing, and it gets on my nerves sometimes when we just go to the mall. I might actually use my mini cargo bag. It slings over my shoulder and neck, so it might be a bit better. I had a purse, ugly as all heck, that I bought the last time we were in DC. I didn't have a body sling purse and we were going downtown DC! :o But my baby sister liked it a lot so I gave it to her. I am going to keep working out the bag situation for sure! 8)

Looks like my handbag!

Purses come in varied sizes, personally I carry the biggest thing I can find (and subsequently have back and shoulder problems, and my hubby will carry it for me if we're out too long - isn't he awesome?   :) ) I also carry a mid-size shaving tote (I got it free buying razors several years ago) to carry all my medicines and insulin and needles.  I also carry at least one camera (usually two).  

I never really thought about all the walking we're gonna be doing, so I guess I'd better pare down alot of the junk I carry to make it as light as possible.  And get some comfy shoes.  

  Was having a dream early this morning that I was asleep on the floor of a dark, damp cave.  My pillow was wet.  Felt like I was going to drown.  Woke-up to find my nose was running.  WTF!? I says to myself, I don't have a cold.  I feel fine!  Turned on the light and my pillow and my face are covered in blood.  Tasted it in my mouth - coppery sweet.  Had a bad nosebleed while I was sleeping.  I NEVER get nosebleeds...

That's what has been going on with my sinuses.
My allergies are starting up, and so my right sinus is clogged. I have been doing my neti-pot thing, and warm compresses - because I don't want my ear to get clogged. No fun but at least it moisturizes my nose. I can't use nasal sprays because they dry out my sinuses and I end up WITH nosebleeds.

I've done some laundry and cleaned our shower cubicle.  Intend to go to the gym at some point today, though my calves still ache from skiing on Saturday.

bought some books at lunchtime, now i have two that i really want to read for my flight. Result!  8)

Past couple of days I've put most of my plants in the ground and planted my seeds.  I'm going to buy a new computer today.  No more busted screen laptop.  No more laptops because I don't want to end up with another busted screen.

I went out and bought some fat jeans (with the stretchy sides which I hate but that was the only kind they had that weren't over $30).  :-[ :-[ >:( >:(  However, when I put on my jeans to go and buy fat jeans-they didn't feel as tight as they did the last time I wore them (last week) and they just came out of the dryer, too. So, I am going to keep going with my workout regiment and see how the old jeans fit by this weekend. If they seem looser, then I will wear the old jeans and next week take the new ones back to the store.

It looks like the week is going to be nice, weather-wise, so that is a plus.
The Son has a field trip tomorrow to the local college - should be interesting for him.

Himself has just gone off to see The Great Escape at the cinema. He was trying to get me to go too but I have seen that film far too many times in my lifetime already!  ;D

My brother is typing that I just got a new computer.

Technically, it's used, but that doesn't really matter.  It's not a top of the line gamer PC;  it's a P4 2.4ghz, 512MB of RAM, and onboard video.  Old, but it was cheap at a new computer store from just up the street.  Soon, I and/or my/our dad will upgrade it with a faster processor (either a 2.66ghz P4 sitting in the garage or Ann's old laptop's 3.2ghz), a real video card (my old ATI Radeon 9800 Pro 128mb AGP), and more RAM.

Yes, I'm a nerd.  No, Ann has no idea of what I just typed.

I haven't been too successful myself in finding employment yesterday, although when I met with my job coach yesterday I was able to find a couple of places to apply to, so I sent in my resume to those companies and am currently awaiting a reply.

Cleaned most of downstairs this morning.  Took all the rubbish and recycling to the tip.  Picked up some groceries (never shop just before lunch, you buy too much junk!). pegged out washing

Aw crap! Here I have been going around the house today, singing a happy tune, thinking about this weekend and not paying much attention to anything.... I decided to check and see if Lost is a rerun like they said last week - come to find out it is only TUESDAY! Here I thought it was Wednesday! I'm just sort of down on their McNuggets now.  They taste like crap and they never give you enough dipping sauce, unless you pay 10 cents extra for each container.

I will say though that their cheeseburgers (I was a good girl and bought myself a Happy Meal yesterday so I didn't eat a lot) taste THE SAME as I remember them from my childhood.  That is not a bad thing.  Fries were okay, just a bit too salty.  Shamrock shake definitely gets the seal of approval.  Tasted like mint ice cream.

Two things of interest last night.

1. We were watching t.v. when Elvira came into the living room carrying something. At first I thought it was Frederico, her fake ferret that she is always dropping at my feet-or should I saw WHAT IS LEFT of Frederico.  ;D ;D ;D  She put this thing down and it moved.  :o :o :o  I then discovered that it was a mouse. Not a FAKE mouse but a REAL mouse!  :o :o :o :o I screamed. The mouse took off and Elvira took off after the mouse and Carlos took off after Elvira taking off after the mouse. She didn't find it. Carlos thinks that I scared her when I screamed (which she put it down BEFORE I screamed). I laughed at myself with the "Eek, a mouse" routine but it just startled me so-which is why I screamed-not because I am afraid of them. We never had mice before and we both find it strange to have them especially at this time of year. If we were to have them, they would come in at the BEGINNING of winter-not the end. Hopefully, both Elvira & Electra will earn their keep.


2. Yesterday, Carlos' ex sent us a DVD of Carlos' son's performances over the years. You can really see the evolution of his dancing ability. The earlier ones he had a hard time doing a single pirouette (a turn for those of you who do not know the term). Then he was struggling with a double pirouette. By the last few performances, he was doing quadruple pirouettes.  :o :o :o  Damn! He is good. And I don't say that just as a proud step-mom (which I am  ;) ) but as a former student of ballet. And there are a few of you who have seen a video of him in action and I think you will agree with me that he is DAMN GOOD!!!!

PTO workgroup this morning.  I was chopping pieces of craft paper to size for the art teacher.  Some year group is going to be making Chinese lanterns apparently.  We also had loads of laminating to do but the laminator ran out of film.  Next week's jobs sorted then!

Then I met with some friends at Barnes and Noble for a coffee/tea/hot chocolate.  Quick lunch and post here and then I have to meet Elizabeth from school.  It's her parent teacher conference this afternoon at about the time the school bus would arrive!  James is going around a friends house for the afternoon.

She is a preemie - about 4 weeks early. C-Section. Mom couldn't get her sugars down, so they had to do an emergency delivery. Both are doing fine. Baby is in the NICU and mom is well. Apparently they both have diabetes now but it should go away?.....

Well I'm about to hit the road to the airport! See some of you tomorrow, the rest of you behave! The last couple of times I went away there was a massive drama on the boards and I missed it all!!!  >:(  ;D

Gestational diabetes is relatively common.  That's of the reasons they constantly test your pee throughout pregnancy.  Generally it goes away after the birth.  However, in a very few cases the mother is actually diabetic but it wasn't spotted until the extra stress of being pregnant.  Also some mothers who develop gestational diabetes go on to develop type 2 diabetes later in life.

I have mixed emotions right now. Carlos went to the hospital for his prep appointment. They said that it would take about 3 hours or so. They are lining him up, making sure everything will be in the right place, etc. etc. I think I am more scared about this than he is. As he is doing all that, I have a hair appointment. I am wearing the "tight" pants to see if I can last the day with them. If not, I will wear the new fat pants which look TOO baggy-but at least they will be comfortable. I don't know.  :-\\ :-\\  Decisions, decisions.


And I am TOTALLY EXCITED about tomorrow!!! YAY!!!

Yes, still have to pack, and do last minute stuff that you do before going away. I already called the "cat sitter" and she is good to go.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts and prayers!

Apparently they are doing great.
My girl friend didn't say that it was Gestational Diabetes, but she couldn't get her sugars below 240! :o They tried everything, including giving her shots and nothing worked. Now, I haven't talked to her yet - just a couple of texts, because she is obviously trying to spend as much time with the baby in the NICU. Her husband is of course a Soldier, and he is currently in Iraq. Don't know if they are going to send him home or make him wait until his regular leave. Who knows?

My only question now is will the baby have diabetes permanently or will this disappear as well?

It could just be an after-effect of the inbalance in blood sugar.  However, it looks as though the baby could have a slightly higher risk of developing diabetes.  Fingers crossed.

Ooh, Next time I end up with Mc D fries I'll try dipping them in blood.  My mom has me doing this painting of a fruit basket.  I was painting the basket and it didn't come out the shaped I wanted it to ( not looking at a picture).  It's perfect for a banana though, so I'm making a hidden banana fruit bowl.  Got to go help clean in the back yard.

They are going to be moving my mother to a convalescent/nursing home tomorrow who knows for how long. When I talked to her today she sounded bad but yet better. She has been doing a lot of coughing but she has been coughing sh!t up which is what she needs to do-and because of all the coughing, her voice sounded bad. But she said she can now hear (something that she wasn't able to do for a while) and she was talking all kinds of of sh!t which I have absolutely no interest in-in other words, she was herself.  :D ;D ;D

I am frustrated,  I got some glasses at JC Penney's and mom thought it would be a good idea to order a back up pair at Zenni Optical.  I'm trying to figure out my frame size and how they calculate that, but if I cant come up with the temple arm number on the glasses.  I have no Idea if I've got my frame width right?  Mom says there's nothing to measure.  I'm going to e-mail them and ask a bunch of questions before mom has me order something that doesn't fit me.  Has anyone ordered from Zenni Optical before?

All the people with three letters in their handle arrived safely.  I heard from Tam, Ash and Gis.  Oh wait, I don't know if Cat got there yet, so I guess there is still one three-letter person on their way.  ;D

Silly Q.  Guess what I had for lunch?  Yep, McD fries, no mayo though.  Also had a sip of Shamrock Shake.  It was ok, but glad I didn't buy my own (I can only do Mint Choc Chip ice cream in small doses)
